Nice tips, using most of them, but good to refresh. And those BW presets are excellent, the slide show on your blog (mother with the baby) really shows the subtle nuances. I don´t use any presets, ever, but these are too tempting.. I will sleep on it.
Thanks, this was the motivation I needed to finish adjusting my X100VI settings to my liking. Ended up doing another pass over my other cameras too to normalize everything lol
Thank you Kevin, all good points. I also focus then compose and have been using single point M focus and back button AF-S ON and found much improved accuracy. Would love to know more about why 117 vs. 425 points is more accurate. Thanks again, GB
Great video. I set my camera like this as well, however I notice when I put the AF switch in manual, the button assigned for face detection doesn’t work. Did I miss something in the set up? Thank you
That's right. Face Detection won't work in this way. You can explore the Instant AF Options in the menu to assign AF-C to the rear command dial which will then give you face detection. But not in manual focus mode.
Hi Kevin. You didnt mention ISO Auto Settings. On my X100V, I have a button set up to give me the 3 Auto ISO modes to select a preferred range, depending on lighting conditions. What is your method to select and control ISO? Also, since you have set your rear command dial for back button focusing, does that mean the AEL/AEF button is available for something else, like Auto ISO for example?
I only use one Auto ISO option. Min Shutter speed 1/125. Then the lowest and highest ISO. Yep, you can reprogram the AEL/AFL Button to something else :-)
Mine finally showed up today. I ordered on launch day from B&H. My delivery date that I was first told was December 13 so, two months early? I’m glad I at least have it for all the up coming holidays, events, changing seasons etc. It seems like it came just in time despite the long wait. Hopefully they get things sorted for all the other orders still waiting.
Defiantly agree re turning off the screen options I got VERY wound up a couple of weeks ago when my focus point kept jumping about every time I put it the X100V to my eye. I couldn’t work out what was wrong and eventually spotted that the Screen focus was turned on and so my nose was changing the focus
I’ve set my T3 with this set-up. After years of trying back - button, it finally makes practical sense. It’s so simple and effective. Cheers, Kevin😊

I’m still rocking the 100V and I love it. Thanks for this, Kevin.
Glad to hear it!
Thanks for the great tutorial. I finally got my X100VI after 8 months waiting (black one).
Enjoy :-)

What auto ISO setting would you recommend

The 117 points are phase detection pixels. The rest are not - so less sensitive and more likely to miss focus.
@@kevin_mullins Thanks Kevin, very interesting detail.
Very useful and clear, thanks 🙏🏼
Glad you found it helpful :-)

Hi Kevin. Thanks for your ready to shoot settings. Which program mode do you use? M with Auto-ISO?
Auto everything, in most cases. P mode, or A mode as it's called in Fujiland.
@@kevin_mullins Thanks Kevin
Wow!
Very good video, Kevin, but had to laugh at your Excel analogy. Rather revealing about your maths skills!
🤓
The only thing more impressive than this is that he owns an x100vi... that's like Charlie getting the golden ticket.
I know loads of people who have one now. :-)

@@marcusineson Its a default setting in fujifilm cameras that can be annoying if you're aware its default position is on.
Good timing for me… been having some issues
Hope its useful.
