Most people stuck in gold/plat can get to dia/masters just by improving their 'micro positioning' (idk the actual term for it). By micro positioning I mean more like cover usage. Once you choose a general part of the map to play in (positioning), micro is the exact spots you choose on the centimeter scale. How wide you stand, when to peek, how you move while shooting.
Imagine you're on a cheeky angle as Ashe, ana, whatever. Genji pushes you from the side of where you're looking. A low rank player will react to that enemy by moving backwards, panic strafing with no thought of how that exposes you to the other enemies you were just looking at. The best scenario is for you to slightly move so that genji is the ONLY enemy that sees you and multiple allies can see you/genji to assist. The next best case is you and genji are in a true 1v1. Nobody else on either team can see you two to assist. The worst case is you panicking and exposing yourself to everyone in the main fight while turned around tunneled on this genji. It's a common mistake I see even in my masters games. It's an easy skill to improve, just try to be conscious of who can see you and try to fight the urge to panick strafe/walk backwards without thinking
the whole thing about waiting for people to walk in your crosshairs only makes sense for bad players bc they dont change up their movement typically they just adad spam, or they spam jump. this happens a lot in lower ranks
All you can do for aim or ranking up is things you would normally do for any kind of competition. Have good gear (pc, mouse, pad), sleep well, eat well, learn about the thing ur doing and understand it, and arguably the most important PRACTICE A LOT!

I think my favorite is when people finally hit GM and realize how fucking miserable the game is. Meta slaves, cheaters que times, the same 50 ppl in any given block of time all knowing exactly how you play. be happy in masters / diamond there is a reason there are so many alt accounts down there. You can actually play the game.
@@dcruz3009 sure huffed right out of a fucking balloon my guy, i don't want to play in gm, shits not fun at all. if you are a grinder and love Adderall by all means wiggle dat ass right up in there. aint for me. Ill raise my hand and be proud about it.
ohhh you got me!!! and I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you medaling kids. grinded echo for 2 seasons 458 games to get to gm3 and asked myself why? I wasn't enjoying any of the matches, they killed the DC server and I just stopped giving a shit after that. When I hear ppl fantasize about playing high ranked I get it, I was there. You don't get a cookie there is always someone better than you, just play the game how you want and your rank will sort itself out in a place you can do that. If grinding meta is what you want then have at it.
Only thing people can give you on aiming is just general tips like focusing on crosshair placement, get used to actually moving your mouse a lot to get those muscles comfortable with fuckin aiming in the first place (a big problem i see is people going to super high sens because they are too damn lazy to just move their goddamn mouse), etc. Past those bare basics its literally just play the game and either aim will come or it wont, theres no tips to get better
8:43 That hurts me because it is true. I am in the top 5 % in kovaaks and still plat 5. And I keep saying that if I can aim better. one day I will be good.
The only tip I ever give to people for having better aim, other than not having ridiculous sensitivity, is having good positioning. This way, you can focus a little more on your aim and a little less on everything else. The only aim tip i think makes sense
ima keep it a stack. I used to be one of those players saying your teammates aren't holding you back it's you. And this was good I climbed from plat in ow1 to now mid masters in ow2. Trying my hardest to hit gm, but it seems like every game I'm the only one on my team even trying to win. not even coping I have so many replays and stat boards of me having so many kills and getting so much value, meanwhile my team does absolutely nothing. The biggest problem I have right now with the giga tanks patch is the enemy tank see's me doing this and they decide to just focus me and shut me down. And that's totally okay because that would allow my tank to freely get value, But that's the problem he does absolutely nothing and goes negative. I can't even fight the tanks how I used to before as a dps main you used to be able to counterplay, and outskill tanks. Now it's no more. If you 1v1 a tank you lose %99.99 percent of the time simply due to their role. The balance of the game is so messed up, but honestly I could care less about that I can work around it. But the matchmaking is like the cherry on top. I'm not even trying to cope like genuinely my games be a 1v9.
Ignore stats, stop dying to the enemy tank If you are not climbing given you are dedicating enough time to the game to climb, there is something fundamentally wrong with your play that needs to be adjusted.
@@pi-2627 well yeah obviously stats isn’t everything thats why i talk about value as well. But theres no reason my tank should be negative in a game like ow where u can do 1 dmg to someone and get an elim. That just shows they are not engaging the way they should be and basically spectating.
Ngl these guides r trash I’ve been playing since 2016 I’ve been thru all these videos. I hit top 500 every season overwatch 2 and in overwatch one I was always 3900. Legit all these guides now of days basically say aim train and give 2-4 tips at most for one character. Like when the game first came out u watch haksal and seagull to learn genji and he’d tell u how to interact with certain abilities and characters to combo. 💀 the guides now are a mere husk of what guides r supposed to be
And you CAN coach aim with aimtrainers, people with hundreds of hours in aimtrainers will have a diferent perspective in technique and should help you to play scenarios present in game and get a sense of progression
I disagree with you about "you cant coach aim". There is "theory" (fundamentals and concepts) for aiming, but these videos do not address that necessarily. They just talk about "quick fixes and personal experiences," like in the gym. "Oh, this worked for me. I watched a video talking about x secret". Yes, it takes thousands of hours WITH quality practice. A lot of people say "Just play the game". Guys, you can develop bad habits during those hours, and breaking them is super hard. It is like playing guitar: you can "play" for many years and still play like shit with bad technique and shitty habits. Knowing the fundamentals and technique are the first step before talking about grinding. Aiming, like any mechanical skill, has theory and needs technique and good quality practice (like playing guitar, singing, a forward pass in American football, throwing a jab in boxing, etc.). For example, I used to have a shitty shaky aim (I played with a lot of tension but didn't know it). With some pro coach advice in YT I fixed that (with a lot of practice of course). I had no idea about tension and how to fix my problem but knowing fundamentals helped a lot. Even we can talk about tracking targets with our eyes!!!! Nobody of those content creators talk about our eyes and how to improve our tracking (or where to look at... many people focus on the crosshair lol). Now... if we think those guides are shit I cant imagine how bad the tiktok content is loooooooooooool. Tiktok is just a big digital trashcan. This is why I only follow pro coaches for educational content. Streamers have no idea. Even pro players are not good explaining things sometimes. Cool video!
I watched a really good player from Xbox named hcpeful and took his tips I’ve went from plat to gm1/top 500 in all roles if anyone wants help learning the game he’s been rank 1 on Xbox and pc
That last sentence was perfect, was gonna say aiming is a lot like weight lifting aka the gym. In the way you use it sure u can't teach aim nor can u teach someone to lift x weight / do x reps BUT you can teach someone proper form just like with aim you can teach someone proper techniques. These techniques won't make u a good aimer just like proper form won't make u a good lifter but it will set you up so that if ur serious and you put in those thousands of hours you will become a good aimer/good weight lifter. Also metro is actual trash at aim, all kovaaks players know this just like all kovaaks players know good aim doesnt make you good at the game you play it just makes u good at aim.
I think a lot of factors come to together to build the concept of "aim" but the Pointing and clicking aspect isn't even that hard. most people just have wack hardware, environment and settings. shid posture, shid grip, shid mouse, shid computer, shid montior, shid mousepad, shid humidity (turn on the AC noob). People be playing on a post-it note and 5billion sensititivy. Learn to use a competitive cm/360, and lower your ingame sense to 0.01 (crank up your dpi as needed) to eliminate crosshair skipping. Trust 0.01 sense+100000 dpi is better than 100 ingame-sense 10 dpi. if ur dpi dont go that high. unlucky hardware gap. Not saying to dump a million dollars to get slightly better mechanics. but like I'm sure you can copy and paste a few settings, clean your desk, adjust your seat, turn on the ac, etc and have better aim instantly. My 9 y/o cousin can hit nasty shots on my setup and they never used anything other than a like an ipad. yeah sure they get their ankles broken by a tracer knowledge gap on crosshair placement/hitboxes, but they can point and click just fine.
Hydron, I lost respect for you on this one. Sure this coach is a fraud and giving some very ChatGBT advice... on improving... however Criticizing Coach Mills because he reacted to getting one-shot by a Widowmaker on stream isn’t fair. Mills is one of the humblest coaches out there; he openly admits he’s not the best at the game but excels at helping players understand it, much like Spilo. You're a great player and a cool guy, but you need to be more balanced in your critiques. There was so much miss information here.... like the not everyone can make it to GM... whats ironic is my friend is Masters but plays in a top 3 team in AU but cant hit GM because he isnt good at solo queing and he doesnt have the time outside of playing with the team to grind. You talked about how new players seek a “quick fix” for aiming improvement, but then you mentioned buying high-quality peripherals as a quick fix. Good peripherals like a 24-27 inch monitor with 240hz, and a mouse that fits your grip style (like a Death Adder for palm users or a Sora V2 for claw users), are important. Additionally, cloth mousepads generally provide better feedback and control than glass ones. Upgrading gear is similar to buying a better BMX bike-it improves performance to match the standard but doesn’t guarantee improvement. As you mentioned, OW2 requires thousands of hours of aim practice. It’s essential to train the right skills, such as vertical aim with Metro’s aerial targets. For lower ranks, warm-ups and 1v1s help with dueling mechanics and adapting to human movement. Aim improvement can also benefit from coaching. As an ex-CSGO pro, I found that feedback on my aim-like reducing sensitivity and improving crosshair placement-was crucial. Movement is indeed more important than aim, as it helps with avoiding damage and controlling recoil. And yes, Bogur outperformed Aspen-Bogur solo carried his team to the first World Final for Marvel Rivals and reached GM faster than anyone else. Sure that game isnt OW2 but it's a high skill ceiling game that is brand new so Bogur is someone that can pickup things instantly... the guy was a Software Engineer before he was an OW2 player... fairly sure Aspen has a masters degree in wearing Cat Ears and uWu'n
"there is no aim secret" I strongly disagree with that statement, at least when it comes to improvement. The best way to learn how to aim, as any mecanical skill requiering muscle memory is to do it well and slow before doing it well and fast. You start slow and bad untill you're slow and good and only there you train your rapidity in order to be good AND fast. I thing people that struggle with improving their aim (including me) don't take the time to aim well before aim fast. Also, having a consistent strafe pattern helps a lot not to screw it's own aim with it's own strafe
these videos are funny but i think u go too hard on the aim training its def not the most important and staying alive plays whatever tf u wanna say is better but aim training is def not the worst thing to do and it will help you get better, esp at a lower rank ur like a billionaire telling people not to save money or invest or someshit lol its not the worst thing and it does help
You lost me at 8:30 cause there are plenty of examples of people that aim train being nasty at the game(s) they play. Not just Tenz. But yeah, aim isn't everything. Still ly papito
@@pi-2627 Exactly, they're already good at aiming but they can see they can improve so they train it more and get even better. You don't see a guy that''s been going to the gym for a year and put on 5 lbs of muscle as a beginner during that time (which isn't much) all of a sudden become an IFBB pro, there's either something missing be it too much stress, too little sleep, bad diet etc... that can all be fixed but at the end of the day you might just not be genetically predisposed to having a good physique. Some people can hop on any game and be good mechanically but others just might not have that good hand eye coordination.

The best aim advice I got was not for aiming, mirroring enemy movement.

Exaggerated swagger moment
Can very easily coach aim. Simple example is how different heros have different movement with their models like bap leans and mercy doesn't so you're gonna aim for baps slight lean but then centre for mercy. Agree with you heavily on how you get higher ranks with better macro though
But you don't need coaching for that, you can get that easily with experience playing the game
@@LuigixD yeah like you shoot where there their model is no
we love hydron
I think my favorite is when people finally hit GM and realize how fucking miserable the game is. Meta slaves, cheaters que times, the same 50 ppl in any given block of time all knowing exactly how you play. be happy in masters / diamond there is a reason there are so many alt accounts down there. You can actually play the game.
massive cope comment alert
@@dcruz3009 sure huffed right out of a fucking balloon my guy, i don't want to play in gm, shits not fun at all. if you are a grinder and love Adderall by all means wiggle dat ass right up in there. aint for me. Ill raise my hand and be proud about it.
this reeks of a guy who never hit GM
@@dacr8928 "That’s why I never actually hit GM" type comment
ohhh you got me!!! and I would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for you medaling kids.
grinded echo for 2 seasons 458 games to get to gm3 and asked myself why?
I remember playing a gold game in OW1 console and being in the same lobby as a level diamond border player who had peaked in Masters
Aiming is blackpill
9:30 its so true
ima keep it a stack.
Kiting the tank is value, but u have to live/get a kill most fights to carry if you can’t rely on a teammate to do decent.
Ignore stats, stop dying to the enemy tank
If you are not climbing given you are dedicating enough time to the game to climb, there is something fundamentally wrong with your play that needs to be adjusted.
@@mickeyboy90 hard to kite a dva that can delete me in about .2 seconds even if i have perfect positioning. 👍🏾
@@pi-2627 well yeah obviously stats isn’t everything thats why i talk about value as well. But theres no reason my tank should be negative in a game like ow where u can do 1 dmg to someone and get an elim. That just shows they are not engaging the way they should be and basically spectating.
Yeah u got to ignore stats in this game. Whether or not the process is fun for you is for u to decide
Do mousepads actually matter for aiming?
Yes
Yeah they actually do, mouse also. If you're broke just order an aqua control they're like 20$ for a giant one
imo, yes. Control or fast mousepads can really optimise your aim, just gotta find the right one
💀 the guides now are a mere husk of what guides r supposed to be
Bro was speaking facts but also talking about himself in owl a bit ngl
these guys tryna keep the skill gap down lmao
And you CAN coach aim with aimtrainers, people with hundreds of hours in aimtrainers will have a diferent perspective in technique and should help you to play scenarios present in game and get a sense of progression
bro played my fav aimer in the end 🙏
Im also console top500 and have played like hundreds of games against/with him on my team, I never knew he had a youtube lol
“how to become a top 500 player in Overwatch! use code VAXTA in the game browser”
most people dont know what they are doing, even in top500 sadly
dawg where tf is part 2
That last sentence was perfect, was gonna say aiming is a lot like weight lifting aka the gym. In the way you use it sure u can't teach aim nor can u teach someone to lift x weight / do x reps BUT you can teach someone proper form just like with aim you can teach someone proper techniques. These techniques won't make u a good aimer just like proper form won't make u a good lifter but it will set you up so that if ur serious and you put in those thousands of hours you will become a good aimer/good weight lifter. Also metro is actual trash at aim, all kovaaks players know this just like all kovaaks players know good aim doesnt make you good at the game you play it just makes u good at aim.
ngl u were right on the first guy the second guy was spittin... maybe this is why team USA got touched.
true
love or hate hydron, he is still in the top 1% of players and unranked to gm guides are never truly gonna get you to top rank
10:42. So true hahah, there’s really not that much more to it
mechanics are quite litrally 99% of any game
omg, more of these vids pls
i love this kind of content
Agreed with most but MattyOw is top 500 and is the most known aim trainer.
But i will say ow is a game where aim alone is definitely not enough
me when I spread misinformation on the internet
More of this plzzz
Mr Hydron why don’t u make a 2 second video on how to rank up cuh
i fw this heavy
just play brig and smack people, my aim is ass except for whipshot so its all positioning and management and stuff
Hydron cooking

he needs a guide on how to pronounce those tricky one syllable words
I know metro because he yelled at me in a diamond ranked game
No one's reading all that bro, It's a video gam
"top 3 AU" doesn't mean shit there's like 50 ppl on the entire server
Yo this guy is best girl I like his video keep it up
I saw this video a couple days ago and thought the same shit lmao
What the flip hello Hydron
MY KING!!!!!!!!!!!
your bicep is distracting lowkey
Ok lol the coach mills clip hes a coach so his mechanics arent anything crazy 😂😂
good video
wronk
"there is no aim secret" I strongly disagree with that statement, at least when it comes to improvement. The best way to learn how to aim, as any mecanical skill requiering muscle memory is to do it well and slow before doing it well and fast. You start slow and bad untill you're slow and good and only there you train your rapidity in order to be good AND fast. I thing people that struggle with improving their aim (including me) don't take the time to aim well before aim fast.
Also, having a consistent strafe pattern helps a lot not to screw it's own aim with it's own strafe
sound mixing is awful. Youre way too loud compared to the videos

these videos are funny but i think u go too hard on the aim training its def not the most important and staying alive plays whatever tf u wanna say is better but aim training is def not the worst thing to do and it will help you get better, esp at a lower rank ur like a billionaire telling people not to save money or invest or someshit lol its not the worst thing and it does help
You lost me at 8:30 cause there are plenty of examples of people that aim train being nasty at the game(s) they play. Not just Tenz. But yeah, aim isn't everything. Still ly papito
These are individuals who already have good aim. If you have good aim, you will be good at fps games by default.
You microphone is absolutely terrible, can't watch.
100 percent hydron…. Thank you for speaking truth. God’s truth in my opinion.
