Jack Frost is my boy. That face never changes, he looks so out of place, he's adorable. I love it. Plus the puns are just amazing. Hee-Ho, it's time for you to go.
Metatron is one of my favorite demons, because I like his design and it became one of my best units on my second run in SMT IV . IT has also an interesting background story.
Moh Shivuu never fails to carry me through the early game in all her appearances. Good movelist which can be flexible thanks to her slightly balanced stats. Slightly biased on this because in Raidou vs Soulless Army, she comes early with wind spells, healing and has the Fly detective skill
One of my favorite Demons(or Personas becuase i have only played P4 and P5) is Shiki-Ouji. I think the design of this paper mache man is really damn cool, with him being white on one side, and red on the other. Also, in P5, his resistances are SUPER good for where you get him. Nulls Phys, Gun, Bless, AND, Curse? Yes please!
As a Hindu boi myself, I love the representation of our deities in SMT games. Fun fact:- Keeping Pralaya exclusive to Shiva is probably a reference to him being the Destroyer as he brings Pralaya(destruction).
Ahh, mine's Mother Harlot, has to be the design, and being the Queen of Fiends in most games kinda, i think, sadly i don't think i've ever got her in SMT because she's always so high level or i simply didn't find her, she's kinda on the weaker side on Persona like mostly every Fiend there feels like, always do my best to make her strong though and use her in my final party. Next would be Ongyo-Ki, he looks absolutely sick, and he's the boss of the 3 other Onis i think, i already like the other 3 Oni as it is, i think they are all really strong demons at the point they appear, but fuse them together and the guy becomes Ongyo-Ki some ultimate black demon that can now make copies of himself, think he is almost always crazy strong in any game, also love his quote whenever you fuse him in most games "Oh so you can see me?" Referring to his ability. Pretty much those two, just a fair mention i go apeshit whenever i see Loa for some reason, certainly did when he even got added in Royal, i just can't explain Loa at all cause im confused about it myself.
About the Fiends, you might be correct in regards to them as a whole but I always thought that at least Trumpeter was pretty consistently good, well maybe not so much in P3 as Hama and Mudo kinda suck in that game, though P4-5 he certainly was. I guess similarly Alice and Daisoujou since they're the only ones with Die For Me and Samsara respectively.
Maria just has to be my favorite Demon along with many others in MegaTen. I mean, we’re literally summoning Jesus’s mom! What’s not to like?! She also has been appearing more recently with SJR and P5R (coincidentally ends with R...) which more people know how cool her design is.
Y'know, I'm surprised you didn't mention the connection between Satanael and Satan in the megami tensei lore, as I think it's one of the most fascinating and compelling things about both of those demons. The angel cast out of heaven for defying a corrupt false-god and giving humanity freedom, choosing to serve under the true gods eternal enemy, Lucifer. It's great stuff, and I hope that in future games that lore is fleshed out more
Mt favorite has to be Thanatos, specifically the persona 3 design. He was the first Persona i ever saw and he introduced me to the franchise as a whole.
Ancient of Days is one of those demons I hope we get to see someday. God's aspects representation is always welcome because it helps to keep the YHVH concept fresh and this specific demon did a great job in that regard. The design also has this Kaneko style prevalent in most higher rank demons.
Great vid. A note on Abaddon for you, (pro. Aba-don) he has a giant mouth in his design because before he was named an angel in revelations, in the Torah he was not so much an entity but a endless bottomless pit in Sheol.
I'd say my top 3 demons would be Alice (because they have an interesting backstory, and are probably the best mudo demons in the series), Nebiros (cool design, nice magic-focused demon and persona, also ties in with Alice's backstory), and Girimehkala for similar reasons to Nyarly (great resistances, great choice in almost every game they're in, etc)
Pixie has always been one of my favorites but Maria has overtaken that. I love her design and healing abilities. They developers really stuck to her mythology.
The only way I can imagine people being scared of the “people with halos and wings” interpretation of angels would be if they suddenly appeared via flash bang. Like the shepherds in the middle of the night suddenly surprised by a great flash of light.
All solid choices, but for me, Mother Harlot and Jezebel are top tier. Harlot as a representative of the whole Fiends and Jezebel as of the Bel race.... such cool concepts for demons in the Megaten lore! Also, Ongyo-Ki is a must have in all my playthroughs in which he appear. I love the evil Oni so much!
I'd love to see more, but as a very new player of the games... I was looking for a kinda... Guide to help with the overwhelming amount of stuff the games throw at you, so maybe something like a "guide to SMT, fusion and gameplay mindset" or something?
An important rule of SMT you need to use the buffs, Sukukaja, tarukaja, makakaja and Rakukaja, in some games like SMT Nocturne or Strange Journey can make the battles easy, and fuse the demons with good skills in mind, and use a lot of magic to hit elemental weakness.
It kinda just depends what your doing. If you're taking out a boss. Stock up on his weaknesses and try to get demons that at the very least aren't weak to it's moves. And say if a boss or enemy that spams darkness or light have somebody with tetraja. Stuff like that. And try to pass on the best skills from previous demons (if possible) and keep buffs just in general
I think my top 10 probably looks something like: 10) Mem Aleph 9) Mothman 8) Maria 7) Daisoujou 6) Seraph 5) Belberith 4) Jezebel 3) Jack Frost 2) Mermaid 1) SMT 4 Michael And that doesn't even include other favorites like Chemtrail, Yoshitsune, David, Vouivre, Pandora, Sarasvati, Mara, Lailah and Tlaltecuhtli.
Amazing video honey! I love that you covered such a large range of demons throughout the series' entirety. Your transitions in your videos are improving so much lately and I adore it ❤
Masakado is probably my favorite demon in the mainline series. Each alignment has a representative. Law has YHVH and the angels, Chaos has Lucifer, and for Neutral, it's Masakado. While not usable in every game in the series, and not having as much importance to the story in some of them, when he is, he makes his presence known. In SMT 2, he helps Aleph out after being resurrected. In Nocturne, he gives the best Magatama in the game, leaving the future of Tokyo in Demi-Fiend's hands. In SMT IV, he was part of the reason why Tokyo wasn't atomized. That's not even getting into the DLC. As a party member, he's not OP, but he's no push-over either. He's pretty great in SMT IV, not bad in Strange Journey, and a cool boss in Imagine. While his common design (a ronin with blue hair wearing kabuki makeup) is great, I love his look in SMT IV: a floating head with piercing red eyes, looking like it was made of concrete. It's awesome.
Personally I like Kikuri-Hime buuuuut I think that might be because she was my first really good healer/protector that constantly saved my ass both in battle and during dungeon crawling. Like, I know other demons like Hariti and Isis can get the job done a hell of a lot better, but I owe that gorgeous, ganguro-esque girl my _life_ man!
My favorites are def Siegfired because I love his design and he's an absolute BEAST and my other favorite is Obreon he design is sick and in Persona 3 he was with me since the Lovers boss and carried all the way through the game until the final full moon shadow he was amazing and it hurt when I had to get rid of him
@@fujinyumi5632 obviously. I am just surprised he finds any kind of beauty in the design. He can like whatever he wants of course, but "Abaddon has a great design"? I cannot comprehend it.
Glad to see Seth on this list. He was my main persona for the tail end of persona 3, my first SMT/Persona game. Since then, he's become one of my two all time favorite demons.
Definitely wouldn't mind seeing more top ten list. Also when it comes to amazing demons you can't forget the Fiends! Easily my favorite designs in the series. They even have a baller theme.
I have a few favourites. Some are obligations, like the Hee-home boy Jack Frost. Some have always served me well, like Alice. Especially Alice. But I have two that I have stories for. Okuninushi is probably my favourite Demon solely because DeSu Overclocked was my first game in the series and he was my first final boss. He made an impression, not just as a real tough opponent but as my first power trip when running through New Game+. The other odd one is Cherubim. Or more over the whole Angel line. Cause I used a Cherubim in my first SMTIV run. He started as an Angel and just kept evolving and never really failed me even in the final hours. When I was using an angel to fight an entire level of angels because Chaos route.
I’m honestly wondering how the hell ive ever completed an SMT/persona game with the demons I use 🤣 I’ve learned so much from these videos, and honestly, my latest p4 run has been the easiest ever 🤣🤣 pre ordered Nocturne for my switch today too, and I’ve never ever played it, can’t wait! And I’ve you to thank for it. I always loved SMT and I had so many opportunities to get it and never did, and some people want silly prices online.... but I took the plunge and it’s out in 10 days! Thank you so much!!!
Abaddon's old design is kinda straight forward: as the angel of the Abyss that huge mouth (that can even devour parts of a city in SMT2!) *is* the Abyss. Edit: If I'd have to pick some favorite demon/persona, I'd probably go with Uriel from original Persona 3 (the first SMT I ever played): seeing a blue-skinned Archangel in the Tower Arcana that is used for calamity and destruction was something I never forget. The few Persian demons/personas, like Armaiti, are also great fun. (A "waifu" would be Yakshini.)
100% with you on your number 1 pick. Satan's (and to a lesser extent, Lucifer's) role in SMT got me interested in Judeo-Christian religions as a mythology. My next picks, in no particular order, would be Mastema, Metatron and Demiurge/Yaldabaoth for similar reasons. I'm generally a sucker for Law-aligned demons/angels.
One of my favorite demons has got to be Byakko. I mean... It's a white tiger with piercing ice cold blue eyes to match it's attacks! I more so love it for it's design than attacks though.
Though even as an attacker, Byakko in most games is no slouch. In Devil Survivor 2, I got so much use use out of Byakko's Multi-Strike and Physical Amps. Also Madness nail in SMT IV is badassed.
I started watching your content because I started playing persona 5 to see it's differences to smt and you've made me so interested in smt that I'm thinking on getting a switch just to try out the upcoming smt 3 and smt 5
Just wanna throw this out there, the "fear" they use in the English translation of the Bible means more along the lines of reverent respect. Typically because of how holy and powerful something is and not something that's terrifying.
I think Abaddon's design is supposed to be based on "Hellmouth", an artisitc choice in the medieval ages where the entrance to hell is depicted as the mouth of a beast.
I'd certainly be interested in seeing more Top Tens. Anyhow, my personal favorite demon is Alice. I love how her design is somewhat bland, which helps make the fact that she has the best version of Mudo in DIE FOR ME! More surprising. She has a weird sort of cool factor for me because of it.
I'm not really that fond of any demons, or more like I get fond of the ones I happen to use during a playthrough, but the one that actually pops into my head is Kikuri-Hime. There's just something nice about the red and green color-scheme, and she was really useful in my first few Megaten games and getting used to the combat systems in the games, so I have a soft spot for her.
I really enjoy all of the archangels, and Metatron. But Baal is my favorite out of all of the demons, my favorite thing about him (other than his design) is his hand gestures, and how he holds his chalice out. Some lower level demons I also like are Principality, Power, Baphomet, and Nidhogger.
One demon I’ve always had a love for is Orthrus, the two headed dog. The big reason why I love him is that I love Greek mythology and find it so interesting, with Orthrus being a guard dog for Geryon’s red cattle only to be killed by Hercules during his 12 labors. This does extend to Cerberus since Orthrus and him are brothers but I wish Cerberus had three heads like Koromaru’s version. Anyways getting back on track, Orthrus also has a design that I just adore. It’s kinda simple compared to other demons, but with that it doesn’t have anything over the top. A two headed dog that usually breathes fire (idk what Persona 5 Strikers was doing giving it nuke but whatever) with a snake tail. Sure he’s usually middle of pack when it comes to overall performance and skills, I mean he’s almost always able to be recruited at the midpoint of the games, but I still love him.
White Rider is one of my favorites, not only for his signature God’s Bow Ability, but because he seems to push for a much stronger connection with Demi-Fiend than the other horsemen (heck, even the other fiends) and it just made it all the better to summon him and have the two fight alongside each other all the way to the end.
So many cool Demons, but let's be honest... Uberpixie is the coolest. She stuck with Demifiend throughout the entire game... Its heartwarming and an amazing internal lore boost. The fact that they even added her in a speaking role during the smt5 Demifiend cinematic is just proof. My all time favorite demon is Cleopatra followed by Mara, but Uberpixie goes above and beyond that.
Glad to see some love for Samael (even if he did not make your list). He's one of my favourite ones with how creative and unusual his design is, and he was one of my best buddies in SMT: imagine~

My favourite Demon is Jack "Hee Ho" Frost
My Steam name is “Jack “Hee Ho” Frost”!
hell ya jack frost is like my favorite too, he's so cool.
In Mexico Jack Frost is occasionally translated as Juanito Escarcha so ever since i learned that, that is all i refer to him as from now on.
H E E H O
I really like Fafnir's design in P5R. Asterius, Satan, and Baphomet are all great too.
I realy hope to see a mega ten or persona game with all 3 of the jack brothers, I mean Jack Frost, Pyro Jack (Jack - o - Lantern) and Jack the Reaper
@illegal Fan I din't know that
Jack Bros: HEE HO
Forgets about Raiho, Strawberry Frost, the Frost Five...pathetic
@@potatistatis6709 THERE'S A JACK BROS T W O ???
@@卵-n6e Completely forgot Lucifroz and Demonee-ho.
Yes please!
I love Cybele(she was my strongest demon in persona 3) There is Yoshitsune, Amaterasu, Trumpter, Daisoujou, Anant and Okininushi
I love all the Jacks. I even have a Jack Frost Nendoroid that looks absolutely *perfect.*
It's great stuff, and I hope that in future games that lore is fleshed out more
I really like hell biker! He's kinda like Ghost Rider in marvel and I always thought he was pretty cool too.
With SMT V and Nocturne remastered coming next year, I think your channel will grow tremendously. Keep it up, dude!
My favourites are Ame-no-Uzume and Baal. Love how Kaneko captured their grace and power with their designs
Another fantastic video, and pretty dang inciteful on some of their mythos! Great work!
Hello, didn’t think I’d see you here (:
I've always liked Succubus, making her op as fuck in the Persona games and having her for a little too long in the SMT games
He’s in SMT IV DLC? Or do you mean outside of that DLC?
@@shadexvii3975 He's part of a DLC quest. When defeated you unlock its fusion. I'm referring to getting to see this demon on future SMT releases.
Great vid. A note on Abaddon for you, (pro. Aba-don) he has a giant mouth in his design because before he was named an angel in revelations, in the Torah he was not so much an entity but a endless bottomless pit in Sheol.
Shoutout to ose for carrying me through persona 4 from rises dungeon to izanami
And if you’re wondering how skill cards.
Some of my favorites are Alice, Surt, Seigfried, Beelzebub, Metatron, and Scathach.
God...this is the channel I really really need. thanks man. truly.
I love how SMT can send you down rabbit holes of mytholigical lore. Its intereating how most depictions of Satan are actually depictions of Abaddon
Shiva is not just a great demon, but in SMT V he's easily my favourite bonus boss ever. He just summons his family to beat you up while he dances.
Pixie has always been one of my favorites but Maria has overtaken that. I love her design and healing abilities. They developers really stuck to her mythology.
Nice list.
Oh and great that there is only Kaneko representation here. Man of true taste.
I love Odin in 4 apocalpyse design. I loved the short time i used him before i benched him.
My favorite Demon is Thor he saved my ass the first time i played persona 3. And now i try to get him in every game he is in.
@@blaze45ful wow that's a great start already. Thanks! I honestly expected people to look down on the new guy XD
@@breukle We were all the new guy once. xp
I think my top 10 probably looks something like:
10) Mem Aleph
9) Mothman
8) Maria
7) Daisoujou
6) Seraph
5) Belberith
4) Jezebel
3) Jack Frost
2) Mermaid
1) SMT 4 Michael
And that doesn't even include other favorites like Chemtrail, Yoshitsune, David, Vouivre, Pandora, Sarasvati, Mara, Lailah and Tlaltecuhtli.
mothman! mothman! MOTHMAN!
Amazing video honey! I love that you covered such a large range of demons throughout the series' entirety. Your transitions in your videos are improving so much lately and I adore it ❤
My number one is Metatron by far! Great vid!
Man I really love Mot because of Beast eye
Kaneko is the best designer. The way he draws demons is incredible
In SMT 2 all he did was move a boulder so you can save amatsu race.
My favorites are def Siegfired because I love his design and he's an absolute BEAST and my other favorite is Obreon he design is sick and in Persona 3 he was with me since the Lovers boss and carried all the way through the game until the final full moon shadow he was amazing and it hurt when I had to get rid of him
"Abaddon has a great design."
*clears glasses and looks again*
...
...
...
Beauty in the eye of the beholder...? I guess...?
He’s not saying it looks good, he’s admiring the creativity of the design.
Mine's always been Black Frost. He's so adorable.
hell ya jack frost is like my favorite, he's so cool.
@@minin1152 Yes all the frost brothers tbh but Black Frost is my fave because he's "evil" haha
You sir have good taste
Demonee-ho is better
Persona fan here haven't touched a mainline SMT game before, but still enjoyed the video!
Every time I see Abaddon I imagine he's yelling like Dave Chapelle's parody of Lil' Jon.
I like Jack Frost
Byakko was basically my most powerful persona when I got P4G's true ending lol
I started watching your content because I started playing persona 5 to see it's differences to smt and you've made me so interested in smt that I'm thinking on getting a switch just to try out the upcoming smt 3 and smt 5
i always love the archangels’ designs because they really just exude... power.
and of course, metatron is my favorite among all of them lol
Just wanna throw this out there, the "fear" they use in the English translation of the Bible means more along the lines of reverent respect. Typically because of how holy and powerful something is and not something that's terrifying.
Using Shiva in SMT5 took a bit longer than you probably expected but yeah you could say he’s good hahaha
Melchizedek enjoyers, anyone?
Based
I think Abaddon's design is supposed to be based on "Hellmouth", an artisitc choice in the medieval ages where the entrance to hell is depicted as the mouth of a beast.
Using a concentrated ragnarok amplified by fire boost + amp, along with a max magic stat always feels so impressive in P3
My favorite demon in Megaten is Alice. She kinda owned my first SMT 4 run....which was an accidental Neutral run
Dude. I really like your content!
I really got interested in the lore of the megaten series since smt4 😎 thanks for doing this kinds of videos!
Nyarly: Pixie is the first demon you get in every game.
SMT IV with Centaur: Am I a joke to you?!
Lilim, beelzibub, and odin are my favorites.
Everyone loves Frosty, The warrior Of love and rage
