1) why do you constantly press left and right at the same time while jumping ? 2) why do you constantly die ? 3) do the timer splits automatically or there's something you're doing manually ? 4) why do you sometimes spin in the air ? 5) there are many times where you fall into a hole or so yet somehow you manage to jump again ? Also, congratulations!!
1) This is a movement technique called zigzag. It saves lots of time throughout the run and allows for jumps to be cleared that otherwise couldn't. It's only effective in the air. 2) Dying after a checkpoint on the North American version of the game makes the cutscene in which the number of boxes missed fall on Crash's head not load. In Hog Wild, it is faster to miss one box rather than death abuse. 3) I split manually. Usually only games ran on PC have auto-splitters but it can be done for console games - though most people don't have the technical skills to set one up. 4) Spinning gives you a bit of speed in this game. However, there's a catch with the "spin timer" - where if you spin too many times (5/6) you cannot spin for 2s for each spin to recharge. Spins save the most time when you time it so that it connects to the ground and then jump again immediately to continue the zigzag technique. Sometimes you are forced to only do spins in the air based on the level section, usually due to platforms that eat jumps frequently. 5) The "submarine jump" or "subjump" technique is awesome. If you spin before falling off a ledge, you have 10 frames after the spin finishes to get a midair jump. Thank you!
@@Tebt_W In PAL version you miss the after level screen if you die in the main level. If getting a checkpoint causes the screen not loading, does it mean you can get the gem if you die before activating the first checkpoint?
Awesome run, highly respectable time! Congrats Tebt! Though, I'm wondering when you'd be satisfied with your time in this category... You can definitely shave off some more seconds. A 39:2x would be fitting for you, and I hope you can manage ways to make it easier to happen, it seems really narrow actually.
I've taken a break from 100% runs of this game due to burnout. Any% is drastically different enough to run even though I'm burnt out on hundo. I'll be back at some point but I'll likely be running some other things before then. Crash 1 Hundo is still my favourite, though. :^)
Is Game Over Abuse viable in the Japanese version of Slippery Climb, which is in the same location as English Sunset Vista and also saves at Kong? (I'm aware that it's a slower version overall; I'm just curious)
@@Tebt_W I've already documented all the save locations in NTSC-J. Changes from NTSC-U are as follows: The Lost City saves to itself instead of Temple Ruins. Temple Ruins saves to Road to Nowhere. Road to Nowhere has no Bonus. Slippery Climb has a Bonus instead of Sunset Vista. Both levels save to Koala Kong. Cortex Power saves to itself. Castle Machinery saves to Dr. Nitrus Brio. However, using the Green Gem Path is still much faster.

Grats on new PB, Tebt!
WOAH! Congratulations!
Great job Adam, glad for your next world record. Your fan is from Russia.)
The hitbox on Hulk N. Brio is surprisingly small. But I guess it was easier on the devs to use N. Brio's normal hitbox for Hulk N. Brio
Like from Naritsa!

Nice!
Any luck on the 100% runs? I'm really looking forward to seeing some improvement in your WR.

Yes, makes alot of sense. Hopefully you will be back soon.
I remember it’s possible to do the ceiling glitch at the end of sunset vista. Is it slower now?
With how the cycles line up when going for the Tawna bonus tokens (for the game over skip), it becomes slower yeah.
Gg

Come to think of it, I have not tested the unique Japanese bonus locations.
I'll have to do so at some point.
