the tribesmen in native fortress are honestly the bane of my life, there’ve been far too many times I’ve had a near flawless run and then been buggered by them
I did okay with the tribesman. The bane for me was jumping the bouncing crates just right and not hitting the spikes and bouncy fire pits just right. Took me over 5 hours of play just to gold this one, what a nightmare😂.
One thing they never managed to get right is the consistency of time trial requirement. There's always a few levels that require near-perfection, while some you can easily beat with a lot of time to spare. It's been like this from the original Crash 3 to the developer times in CTR and Crash 4.
@@modrozelenaalga9607 indeed, i beat a dev time by 15 seconds in that level, while attempting plat times.. no clue why its so lenient, then the lab comes along and Dev time is only 2 seconds faster than plat.. so you almost have to a dev to even get the relic..
@@modrozelenaalga9607 I got Sunset Vista with at least 15 seconds to spare, despite falling down right near the end and having to climb all the way up again. I suppose there are a lot of fairly difficult cycle skips you can do that they give you the leeway to wait for.
For the native fortress type of levels, there's one thing you could've done to make it even faster. Those wooden platforms you have to attack in the vertical sections... you can actually turn them around AND jump onto the next platform with only 1 jump, there's no need to do 2 jumps. However it's pretty dang precise to do, but it does save a few seconds. That said, I hate the trials in these levels...
That is a good comparison. Yeah, that level definitely felt like a Crash 4 level. Although, Crash 4 probably would have hidden a few crates in some obscure location so you would miss the Gem by a few boxes. 😋
In Stormy Asccent there is a MASIVE skip when you reach the first stairs to acces the second half of the level, you only need to sacrifice an aku aku but in exhange you save up to 40 seconds or more. Doing this will help you taking your time in that last half of the level.
Oh yes, Fumbling in the Dark! For Stormy Ascent, at least you know that every death is fair and the level is pretty fun, while FITD is just an unfair ordeal.
Stormy Ascent may be super hard to get the platinum relic but when you get it after failing so many times (especially at that top section), it’s so satisfying
Thanks for doing this series, it’s been very enjoyable and got me to pick the trilogy back up and I’ve now got all the trophies for all 3 games. Stormy Ascent gold relic being the single most difficult part of achieving that, never mind the platinum relic
My personal top 5 of hardest platinum relics in crash 1?! Hmm... #5 - The Lab (Its only 5th given i took few hours on it trying to figure it out myself, but ended up looking it up only to win in few tries.) #4 - Generator Room (Took a little while to get the cycle. Even longer than the lab after looking it up.) #3 - Heavy Machinery (I recall getting a gold first for very sloppy performance.) #2 - Native Fortress (Jankiness kills this level.) #1 - Stormy Ascent (I dont need to explain that one.) As for Crash 2... little foreshadowing I guess. #5 - Crash Dash/Crash Crush/Un-Bearable (All boulder levels. You must hit time crates, while Speed Shoes and Slide Jumping. You have even less time to react to obstacles.) #4 - Totally Bear (Darkness + Bear Dashing = trial and error. Lots of forced restarts) #3 - Sewer Or Later/Hangin' Out (Very tight times and the first one requires triple aku. Got gold first time and couple more times.) #2 - Piston It Away (Very annoying level design on top of jank. Got gold the first time again.) #1 - Cold Hard Crash (Long ice level. Inconsistent level cycles.) Hope that small bit of foreshadowing may guide you a bit Lewis. I've seen that most did not struggled with Cold Hard Crash. I guess long levels are a pet peeve.
I’m pretty certain I got the platinum in fumbling in the dark while just aiming for the golds, so I’d swap that out for The High Road which had me seething
I like the relics in crash 1 more than in 2 and 3 specifically because there’s only one speed crash can move at. In the hog levels you’ll likely get platinum just by hitting every time crate and getting to the end, in crash 2 polar levels you have to work out where to charge and not charge for the entire level. Same with the chase levels - in crash 1 a good run will be enough, in Crash 2 you have to dash so fast you can barely react to obstacles. If you CAN move faster, then you HAVE to move faster - and it just makes the relics more annoying to get
yep i agree. i managed to get all gold relics in crash 3 bc it's required but getting a platinum? dash+rotate+speed shoes? not on my list. absolutely not lmao
I can really get behind what you said about Generator room, and The Lab. On Th Lab I actually found myself a fairly consistent cycle and got it in like 20-30 minutes after that, with very little inconsistencies. I also had some fun on Generator room, but I had no good beginning cycle on it, sadly. BUt funnily enough, I also had fun rushing Stormy Ascent, yet it still took an overall 2-3 hours and was by far the hardest, so I guess enjoying it doesn't mean much...
Been doing a live Platinum Relic run on my streams and boi oh boi, Road to Nowhere took me 3 hours and almost 200+ retries before I finally nailed the rope jump/walk strat from start to finish.. Good thing I wasn't stressed that much when I attempted this, now I think I only have 6 to 7 levels to go before I 100% CB1 in Steam..
I'm shocked that the High Road is no where on this list, easily the worst relic for me, but I was also surprised by how relatively quickly you moved through it so fair enough I guess
This series inspired me to try getting all the platinums too. I’ve been breezing through the whole game until I got to Sunset Vista. That level broke me.
Both bridge levels drove me insane and I only went for gold time. Became so mad that outsiders would call a therapist. I'm not been the same since then.
I beat both of them on gold just for the platinum trophy, and after 5 attemps easily, I finished the high road and the other bridge level with no rage.. 💀
9:23 Tbf, during the "going down section" near the middle of the level, you can save plenty of time, and it's honestly easier than going the actual route too - you did make it a bit harder for yourself than it needed to be by going the full route. You can also save yourself quite a bit of pain by training the different sections of the level with checkpoints (although I never really thought to do that either, so oh well). But either way, Stormy Ascent is definitely not an easy level to clear with no deaths, let alone doing it with reasonable speed too, so it's still a fair choice I think For me the worst level by far was The Lab, but I will admit that your strat for the level looks many times better than the strat I used. If I'd known that cycle, it probably wouldn't be my number one either (although that BS RNG beginning alone would definitely still land it in my top 5, and probably top 3 too)
My list: 5- Castle Machinery (those god damn robots with the saws were horrible and i died to them alot but other than that the level is fine i guess.) 4-Jaws of Darkness (pretty long level, lots of annoying jumps and hazards) 3-Native fortress (waiting for the spike poles and fire were the worst part of this level. Either i wait too long and miss the platinum or i try to rush it and die. And at the end i just barely got the platinum) 2- The Lab (this level really felt like luck to me depending on when i started the time trial. The electric gates were really bad and 90% of my deaths were probably on just those) 1- Stormy Ascent (nuff said. But i am proud that after all of that i got a time of 2:56 on it or something like that i don't remember exactly.)
In Generator room you can sacrifice mask in the end on hot battery and save some time The Lab . For me the most hard part was 3 TNT crates in the end , it's awful ..... Third place - Jaws of Darkness . You can sacrifice Aku mask on the second torch and rock blocks will be open . That was the key to victory for me I agree with others levels on the list .
my best the lab RUN ruclips.net/video/yW8vMu6DeYk/видео.html i did pass that cycle without waiting but if you can get it waiting thats good ruclips.net/video/Mx3Jv0Tn3M4/видео.html also my storm ascent run 3:01:55 if any is interested
For me, The Lab just was a complete pain to me. Crash 1 is a bit strange, though. I feel like (at least in the North American release), the level difficulty from one level to another can be all over the place. I mean, generally the levels get more difficult as you progress, but there are still odd cases where some levels just seem oddly placed as they are either too hard or too easy for their placement in the game.
And also the level that I hate the most so far for Plat Relic is the Great Gate... I hated the fact that the jumping blocks can decide your fate whether you pass or ultimately fail the run..
It's hard for me to make a top 5 here because, as much as I enjoyed this version of Crash 1 in particular, I'm not really a fan of how time trials are handled here for most of the game, at least compared to the other mainline adventures in the series. I guess not having a faster movement option to unlock can be a plus because it means you can try out those time trials as soon as they are available, but the rest of it... I have mixed feelings about time trials in Crash 1.
After having just finished all the platinum relics in Crash 1, my list is a bit different than yours. I didn't have any real trouble with Fumbling in the Dark. It took me less than an hour to platinum. I actually found Lost City harder to platinum than Sunset Vista and Native Fortress. My top 5 list is 5. Jaws of Darkness (pretty easy level, but hard time) 4. Stormy Ascent (I hated it, but not as bad as I thought it would be) 3. The High Road (insanely frustrating if you're not good at rope jumps) 2. The Lab (ridiculously unfair time and I HATE that first electric fence) 1. Generator Room (insanely hard time and certain cycles just seemed inconsistent, like The Lab)
I agree with your list but I'll swap thumbling in the dark for high road. That level got me cussing like mad. The rope decides whether to let you on or throw you off, the turtles sometimes kill you without touching you (like you said the hit boxes are fucked up) and the sneaky little gap at the end gets me as well! I've only stormy acsent to plat now but that'll take forever.
crash 1 is odd. i SMASHED dev times on my first attempts on some levels, yet only just scraped the plats in others. As you said, no clue why some of these times were as they were. Crash 1 isn't about speed or skill.. its about hitting the cycles. dont hit them? plats become impossible. hit them, and you almost just hold 1 button and jump a few times. For this reason i dont think crash 1 is the hardest of the 3 for plat relics because theres little "skill" compared to slide jumping and tornado skipping gaps.
IDK if its my screen settings or something but I could still see the hazards on the dark levels after losing Aku-Aku so it was pretty straightforward for me
Personally I didnt find stormy ascent that bad like whilst I was aimming just to get gold I got platinum I think how the mission was fun to play definitely helped All things being said great list lewis
Fumbling in the dark wasn’t too bad, I was only going for gold relics and half of my crash 1 relics ended up platinum, this was one of them. I actually really enjoyed this level, felt like the high road but actually fair and fun. The section where it’s basically scripted where your light goes out is a little annoying because the rats don’t always show up, but when they do, just slap them into the aku box, and wait until your light comes back and you’re good
Well done! I think the hardest one is done now (unless Crash 4 is even worse idk but at least it should have better performance and controls) so I'm excited to see 2 and 3. Last summer I played the trilogy and I was very close to the Crash 3 platinum (easy one except for the bike controls F THAT, I had only 3 or 4 time trials left) and then the game decided to say F YOU! because since this remastered is poorly done technically (controls, hitboxes and physics as well) my save file got randomly corrupted and I lost ALL of my progress on ALL 3 games. Seriously they should have patched the trouble with auto saving that can lead to this happening!!!! So now I'll wait a few years to let the steam cool down before attempting again to complete these games.
You could watch caddicarus talking about the hardest platinum relics to get a heads up on the more difficult since the ones from crash one made it on this video
I've got 3 platinums left to get. The second bridge one, Native Fortress and The Lab. Haven't found any of the others too diffucult yet. Generator Room probably took me the longest.
You know what, I'd swap Stormy Ascent with the Lab. Because I had more fun getting platinum on Stormy Ascent than The Lab. Jaws of Darkness wasn't that bad for me mainly because it's a game of choosing what hazard you'd sacrifice the Akus. So I think with my Top 5 worst level to platinum would be (1) The Lab; (2) Fumbling in the Dark; (3) Sunset Vista; (4) Stormy Ascent; (5) Native Fortress. Levels like Slippery Climb, The High Road, or Generator Room that were hyped to be a very hard Platinum turns out to be either very fun to play or I managed to snatch it on my very first run (like Slippery Climb). Also P.S. if you were attempting Platinum on Crash 2, if you're just using the running power up to play the time trials, you'd have a really bad time getting platinums because the times can get very, very tight. Doing some slide-jumping are slightly faster than only running, so doing slide-jumping on places you think are confident to execute while running can be really helpful. Also slide-jumpspin to get extra height than usual slide-jumping would actually help in some cases.
Stormy Ascent is ridiculously difficult but little of it feels unfair, most of the levels lines up nicely for you to just gun it and the time doesn’t demand perfection like it can for other levels. The hardest relic to get, but not the most infuriating
I think that's the terrible thing about crash 4 platinum times the levels are never on a cycle so one run you can get some moving platforms or enemies to be in a nice cycle then next run they are all over the shop not to mention that game is fucking frustrating as all hell to get the platinum
i think this is the second hardest game to platinum out of the trilogy (crash 2 being definitely the hardest), a lot of the levels i was dreading were rather easy, but the first level and the lab almost made me wanna pull my hair out, shaving off every millisecond in hopes of making it, the lab especially because you have to jump through the electricity bolts in the very beginning and the very end (i think my low end pc was guilty of misplacing the last electricity cycle but i still did it). though stormy ascent was hard, it's due to the level being hard, not the time trial aspect, after a while it worked purely off of muscle memory. besides that not much bothered me aside from the spinning ladder at the end of lost city and the robot cycles from castle machinery, some bullshit here and there.
Tbh for my personal, devtime for Crash trilogy is Harder than Crash 4 and CTRNF, And actually platinum relic too, currently i never get platinum relic in The labs
The lab is not in top 5? Come on. We all saw how you struggled. Figuring out the cycle is also hard. So it is just hart. Must be top 2. After stormy ascent.
the tribesmen in native fortress are honestly the bane of my life, there’ve been far too many times I’ve had a near flawless run and then been buggered by them
They are so glitchy aswel.
Anyone for pills?! XD
I never had problems with them. I just spin them right after jumping on top of them

Exactly! For example, the margin for error in Sunset Vista is so huge that you can slowly take your time wherever needed and still get platinum.
@@modrozelenaalga9607 indeed, i beat a dev time by 15 seconds in that level, while attempting plat times.. no clue why its so lenient, then the lab comes along and Dev time is only 2 seconds faster than plat.. so you almost have to a dev to even get the relic..

Minha maior dificuldade era conseguir contra o tempo na fase generator room mas graças a você eu consegui a plantinum branca muito obrigada 🎉
Hardest part of native fortress was the jump crates 😂
Are you going to be doing crash 2 and crash 3 platinum relics?
Stormy Ascent is ridiculously difficult but little of it feels unfair, most of the levels lines up nicely for you to just gun it and the time doesn’t demand perfection like it can for other levels.
The hardest relic to get, but not the most infuriating
Honestly I would do the Developer Time Trials all over again before I even consider Platinuming Crash 1
I think that's the terrible thing about crash 4 platinum times the levels are never on a cycle so one run you can get some moving platforms or enemies to be in a nice cycle then next run they are all over the shop not to mention that game is fucking frustrating as all hell to get the platinum
My time for Stormy was 2:58:78 it was hard
I struggled on:
Generator room
High road
Fumbling in the dark
Native fortress and could you believe…
N-Sanity beach 😂😂
Crash Bandicoot 1 is rediculusly difficult to even get all the gem and unlock the second ending.
i think this is the second hardest game to platinum out of the trilogy (crash 2 being definitely the hardest), a lot of the levels i was dreading were rather easy, but the first level and the lab almost made me wanna pull my hair out, shaving off every millisecond in hopes of making it, the lab especially because you have to jump through the electricity bolts in the very beginning and the very end (i think my low end pc was guilty of misplacing the last electricity cycle but i still did it). though stormy ascent was hard, it's due to the level being hard, not the time trial aspect, after a while it worked purely off of muscle memory. besides that not much bothered me aside from the spinning ladder at the end of lost city and the robot cycles from castle machinery, some bullshit here and there.
Tbh for my personal, devtime for Crash trilogy is Harder than Crash 4 and CTRNF,
And actually platinum relic too, currently i never get platinum relic in The labs
Now video for top 5 easiest platinum relics
Lewis I need some tips I only need 4 platinum relics for the lab, generator room, road to nowhere and the high road any tips please 😩
follow the cycle I did on The Lab and you shouldn't have an issue with it
@@WumpaLewis sounds good 😎
The only way I beated the generator room is because I did the shortcut and got 40sec although without it I thought it would take hours
Native Fortress can go fuck itself, and Stormy Ascent is so janky and incosistent, that I consider it a negative addition to the game.
The lab is not in top 5? Come on. We all saw how you struggled. Figuring out the cycle is also hard. So it is just hart. Must be top 2. After stormy ascent.
4:24 😂😂
Hi lewis
Please bring back the attempt counter.
Number 5 I get the platinum first try
I mean it’s not so bad to me at least
Wait so you need platinum not gold?
no relic is difficult enough to stop the lew
the dark levels weren't too bad for me.
Im lucky if i can get a blue relic let alone platinum
for me native fortress is by far the worst. took me like 5 days to get platinum relic lmao
Now try to beat the developer times
you never made a video like this for the dev times from nitro fueled
because they were a lot more difficult than these relics, and it wouldn't be a top 5, nearly every one of them was a pain
High road is not really that hard to plat ppl give it too much credit tbh
Platinums do not interest me 😂.
Golds good enough for the ps5 trophy
Here is my crash 1 top 5
1: Stormy Ascent
2: Jaws of Darkness
3: The Lab
4: Native Fortress
5: Generator Room
