Sounds great! I picked up an 07 S8 with 80k a few months ago.. So far I've had to replace the Nav screen carriage, Tail Light, 4 front upper control arms, both sway bar links and both sway bar bushings. Still need to do front pads and rotors, hood struts and its throwing a code for the bank 4 o2 sensor. That being said I absolutely love the car! I can do 90% of the work myself so its not really that big of a deal. It should be back to its former glory by summer. I drive 150 miles roundtrip to work everyday, I didnt buy this as a daily commuter (that would be crazy) but I enjoy driving it so much I take it to work 3 or 4 days a week.
Brian Baroo That’s awesome! I’m glad you’re enjoying the S8. I just hit 80k as well. It is such a comfortable car! Mine rides slightly stiffer after lowering it, but still very smooth! Thanks for subscribing!
2 years in. Did the front control arms and bushings. 4 new tires. Both front air struts. HVAC blower and motor. Also had a B&O tweeter go bad. Oh yeah the rear trunk strut too. Still love the car!
I'm truly glad I stumbled across your Channel I'm getting ready to pick up a 2008 S8 V10 I'm very excited hopefully I get more hints from you on the do's and don'ts keep up the good work looking forward to watching more and learning👍🍻
Great exhaust mod, and commentary. She sounds absolutely beastly gorgeous!!! I'm truly stuck chosing between 2008 Audi S8 V10, 2013 Cadillac ATS+4 2.0L Turbo performance, and 2012 Audi A4
Nice car. Rare. Have only seen one of that gen ever. After owning two European turbocharged cars most recently. It sure is nice to have the ability to add 40% more power with a few easy bolt ons and a software remap. None the less. Displacement over forced induction is cool in it's own sense. Really wanna try out that supercharged 3.0 liter Audi motor. Several Audi techs have told me it's the best around for reliability and power.
TBH this sounds better than a lambo gallardo v10 imo. Sounds very grunty at low rpms almost like a v8 then sings beautifully up top but still growly i mean what more do you need. Sounds super unique
Tbh i still want a v10 big audi sedan ever since like 06. I love turbo bmws and all but you just cant beat a beautiful mid late 2000s audi with a wonderful v10. V10 and v12 is an experience i must have. In 2018 im really starting to miss NA engines starting to have more respect for previous generation e92 bmw v8 and e60 v10. Turbos are great but there is definetly personality and chracter missing these days
Nice video, great car, like you I’m passionate about these cars. I’m in NZ I had one 2 years ago a 2007 with 88k Kilometers on and removed the rear resonator and gave it a remap. I sold that car and wanted to search for a face lift 2008 model. Here in NZ they are around NZ$245k new without the options. I wanted to find one with most of good options and low mileage, FSH. Which I know is a hard call I know, but I think Ive done it and the wife approved after a bit of loving. So today I’m flying up to collect and drive her back to my home town, she is a late model 2008 car with 52K (32k miles) on with 2 owners, up graded Bang Bang stereo, rear DVD package, upgraded wheels, Miltek exhaust (so that will be interesting to look at), FSH. This car retailed here for around NZ$280K which I can’t afford, and gas here is more expensive than in the US, so it will be my special ride…..maybe my funeral ride, I jest of course, We have some great roads here especially at night that you can drive this baby. I will follow your channel with interest, I will also up load more later when I start to enhance this one, I can’t wait I’m like a kid with a new toy!!! Carpe Diem
David Middleton Thanks, David! That's exciting! Congrats on the new ride! That Miltek exhaust is going to sound awesome! You'll have to let me know how it sounds after you pick it up. Thanks for the support!
Hassaan Zafar Go for it! It's a very impressive car. Just try to find one that has a spotless maintenance record. I looked at a few bad ones before I found mine.
Thanks, man! This is my first Audi, but all I can say is make sure there are meticulous maintenance records. These cars are getting cheap enough now that younger people can start to afford the initial purchase price, but have let some of the maintenance slip in an attempt to save money. The oil change on my car takes 11 quarts of full-synthetic, so you could see where someone might let something like that slide for a while because of cost. I know the A8L is a different motor, and I don't know if you're looking at a V8 or a W12, but you get the idea. Parts aren't cheap, so make sure they've been maintained.
This is awesome man. Going to be buying one of these S8's soon when I move into my new house. Always loved these cars and the unique engine they have in them. I'm finally moving to the USA in November and will be able pick one up in August on a trip. How reliable has this been, I'm not expecting reliability by any means, I own an old German car now I know what to expect, but just how expensive. What would you recommend to make an exhaust louder than stock, but not so bad it drones on the highway? Thanks
Thanks, man! Welcome to the U.S. in advance! I only drive mine on the weekends and to make videos, so I don't put a lot of miles on it, but there are a few things to look out for when buying one. 1) Since these have direct injection, you will want to make sure that the carbon cleaning has been done on the intake valves sometime in the last 60k miles. It will cost you about $1,500-$2,000 to have this done at a shop and probably double that at the dealer. 2) The air suspension can be prone to failure and will be relatively expensive to replace/repair the air struts if needed. 3) Just make sure the car has been well maintained and there is paperwork to prove it. It is great value for the amount of car you get, but if you pick one up and the engine or transmission ends up needing to be replaced, then the car is basically totaled. As for slightly louder with no drone, I would stick with deleting the resonators and leaving the stock mufflers so you still have the butterfly valves. Almost no sound difference inside the car at any speed, but quite a bit louder from the outside when those butterfly valves open. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!
Auto Detour thanks for the advice, appreciate it. I will only be using it occasionally when I want to have fun as I am planning on buying another car to use as a daily, so as you do probably only weekend miles. I will certainly check those things you have said because the last thing I want to end up with is a lemon that everything needs replacing on.
So I hit a speed bump in my A8L and there was a bolt sticking out of it and it caught my flex pipe right after the manifold. Scared the crap out of me did not expect my super quiet luxury card to sound like a monster it did. Actually had a hard time fixing it because I didn't want to lol
Honestly one of the greatest videos ive seen regarding the D3 S8. I cannot wait till I pick mine up. This was the first video of yours that I watched and I must say that after seeing you go in depth with everything. Videoing underneath the car, Definitely hit that subscribe button. I cannot wait to see some more videos ! Although I have to ask! If you were to do the muffler deletes. What would you do with those butterfly flaps in the mufflers? Do you have to hook up VAG-COM and slap a relay or something so it doesnt trip the CEL on? Thanks man!
MaxxRussia Thanks buddy! I appreciate the positive feedback! The butterfly valves appear to be vacuum actuated and not electrical. I assume I can just plug the vacuum hose. We will see!
I left the stock mufflers, but had the 4 resonators removed and replaced with straight pipe. I would be interested to hear what a W12 sounds like with modified exhaust.
Thank you for the reply!, do you have a picture of the exhaust you can share? you can email it to firas500@yahoo.com, I will do a video for that when I modify the exhaust
she screams when you floor it and when you hold her on the corners she roars as you back off she drops through the notes beefy and throaty down to a horse rumble music to ones ears
Perhaps it sounds like a Lamborghini, is that Audi and Lamborghini share that specific 5.2L V10. And perhaps it was originaly designed as a 5.0L V10 for the Gallardo.
I have both, I gave up on trying to decide. Only owner of an 08 RS4 with stage III from APR. I just bought a 13 S8 and it’s at my mechanic in line for stage II from APR. They are the best Audi tuners IMO.

Michael yates I know of a beautiful white one for sale with 60,000 miles on it for 15 000 Canadian dollars I know it's a journey but it's a really really nice car reasonable price for the miles it's 110000 kilometers on it so 60 and some change on miles
Personally if I owned an older S8 it would have to be a one owner low miles with impeccable dealer maintenance records always garaged and flawless… I would leave everything stock and continue to service it as required by Audi at a dealer… Oh and the earth is unequivocally a Stationary Plane not a Planet… Santa was not the last lie the Globe is … Peace on the Plane Brothers and Sisters…
0-60 in the 5 second range is not bad for a sedan and an s8 does not go like a volkswagen. Also a few upgrades and you can push 500+ HP and get 0-60 in the mid 4 seconds range. Not bad I would say for a luxury sedan weighing over 4000 pounds.
Actually as well Audi as Lamborghini belong to Volkswagen. The V10 Engine of the S8 is based on Audi‘s V8 FSI Engine. Later it was built in some tuned version of the Lamborghini Gallardo.
First, why did we not get a review under the car after the work was done? And finally, no one will confuse that with a Lambo, Ricer, yes. I think you can do better.
Tomek Ziętek it’s not a Lamborghini engine it’s an 5.2L V10 Audi made engine that Audi shares with Lamborghini gallardo and huracan. Dumb people who can’t do research before making an idiot off them self.

VW owns audi too

the s8 engine is sourced from lamborghini that's why
because it has a lambo engine ! look at a4 a4 2005 climate control and look at galardo climate control. lambo and audi S line are together
