im really intrested to see what the gov has done with the children. they've hinted that everything happend around 4-6 years ago, so people still remeber their kids. but what did they do with their kids? who took them? why did they take them? are they still alive? can they truly get them back?
I guess the government is getting them brainwashed similar to the dystopian book "Brave New World"
Sadly cant be worse than what our real world Governments are doing to chil dren. :/
We don't know too much about this setting, but it seems the government has their children hostage and anyone that steps out of line is pretty much forced to watch a live feed of their kids committing suicide. I don't know if they the children are like machurian agents or something.

so tbh i got into this series cuz of all the damn ads and i gotta be honest this series is wild af lmao ty for the summary cuz i got lost halfway through the first series the second on is looking to be pretty good cannot wait to see how this wraps up that mayor chick is scary btw

A big hole in the story is if all kids were taken and had to pretend to be fine and never see them everyone would go to war. They might kill your kids but would letting them be prisoner and done who knows what to forever. You make sacrifice for the greater good and future you might feel immense lose but those actions make sure other parents never have to feel that again

Okay I'm late, fucking duh but this has been bugging me. Every charter we meet has at least one kid. So where are the people who don't have kids or child free people? Like we know not everyone is your "seroptipical" (i know I spelled that wrong don't come for me) couple. I.E Charlie as a single dad with a wife who has passed. Or (small season two spoiler if you haven't seen it) the lesbian couple we see in Lakeview. So we know that there are all kinds of parents who are forced into this but we only see parents. How is the gov controling people who don't have kids? Are they holding someone else hostage that they care about? Or is it only parents forced into this 'perfect' life while child free people are somewhere else. Or worse. Killed off as they aren't able to control. Also what about people who don't care for there kids? Like abusive parents? They couldn't give a fuck about those kids. So are they just on red statues but still acting normal?
Idk I've been thinking to much into this. Any ideas anyone might have please share it to me!! I need answers cause this has been bothering me for a minute.

We don't know anything about him other than that he's most likely a red statues citizen. As much as I want to see him again as like a new member of the rebellion or something, he may have died when the neighborhood got scorched. Early artwork of him has him wearing a Nirvana shirt though which is probably the closest we'll get to knowing his personality.

Damn this series is really good I read all of them and I'm waiting for seasons 3 to come out is crazy that this series fit awhile had this truman show vibe to this hunger game survival thing going on I love it I wished this became an animated series

What does it mean when their eye turns red
When it's only one eye I guess it's like a warning from the government for their actions or words. When it's both eyes, it means they're in "red-status", red status is where the individual appears to suffer immense torture of reliving their worst memories and are deemed to be a rebel conspiring to "undermine the optimal functions of society" and thus are taken away

as trixx said, one eye is just a warning/maybe showing the characters the fact their children could die anytime(?). and both eyes is when the children get killed/kill themselves (like bob and lindas children jumped off a building)
One red eye: The government or whatever is probably on to them and they're probablhly shown their children being held hostage.
Two red eyes: They're forced to watch a live feed of their children committing suicide. Possibly brainwashed or something.
