The face of the league is one of those things, "You can't define it but you'll know it when you see it."

JT is a system type of player.
When he is on the court you might not notice him but when he sits, you can notice that the team doesn't function as usual.
He is special because he can do everything that you ask him to and one of the things is to take the back seat.
Jason tatum is very unique. And the media can't aknowledge for what he is and does.

Hes actually not a system player. That's quite possibly what he's least like. He's a iso-guy (kobe adulation) that has reformed his game to THIS team.

He’s a hooper. Period. Just laces up, goes out, and balls out. But doesn’t quite have the charisma or standout personality to carry a league yet. He could end up best player in the world, but probably won’t ever be face of league. Think Tim Duncan.

why does it matter if hes the face of the NBA? Cs are best team in bball if they keep winning who cares. Hes still young, not at his prime. Hes done what team needed to win, guarded 5s against mavs. He might get better next few years. Anyway if theyre like 2000s Pistons that were winning without a superstar, theyre still best.
JT chose winning over all, and thats much more important. they managed to put their egos aside this year, with all-start starting lineup that worked as 1. Nobody cried about his shots, about role, about packing order. With 5 guys like that you cant play like Luka or Lebron. Wouldnt work, those guys are not just spot-up shooters. They used KP in the middle as a hub and he either distributed or finished over guys , when he was with Luka it just didnt work. Also JB had a ball a lot, White had a ball a lot, they even used old man Al down low to mix it up, a little postups. Thats why (with KP healthy) its a coin toss between those 3 who would be a series MVP, depending on matchup.
As for US team - you should ask Steve Kerr what theyre doing, cause nobody else actually knows.. it doesnt look good.

These two just gave a horrible comparison between the face of baseball and the face of basketball. You can’t logically compare the two. For example, unlike basketball, a single star or individual in baseball and other sports cannot carry a below average team (talent-wise), to the championship or deep into the playoffs. It’s more of a team effort. For example, what would be the equivalent in baseball or football, to that first Cleveland Cavaliers team Lebron took to the Finals? It’s not going to happen in baseball, football or soccer, no matter how good a star on that team is.

They need to stop with this face of the league garbage. You have multiple faces, why not use them all? That way you don’t look like a league that jumps ship every other season.

@@MarvelMadness2003 Brady is a tested legend. The NBA keeps trying to make whoever is the best player that wins the NBA finals the face or some young talent. That’s why they keep changing. Just embrace a few players. If any of them rise and stay consistent, then make that person the face.

Lebron James is still the face of the league and will be until he retires or really regresses as a basketball player. he still has the biggest aura, he still is the main attraction in terms of how much the player is talked about, he has the most clout and power, and he is still one of the best players in the nba. Lebron is also still the most polarizing figure in the league its pretty clear he is still the face and always will be

As a casual, Tatum comes off as a generic player from this era. Big guy with handles who prefers shooting 3s. He doesn’t seem aggressive & nothing stands out; if he didn’t play for Boston he wouldn’t be in the convo as the face

I really don't think Melo or anybody go be saying that after season. The unwarranted Media pressure put on not just Jayson, but Jaylen. Don't drag ANT do that same BS. See this is back what I said about MJ,Kobe,Duncan,,,etc( none of this kind of pressure was put upon him at age 23,24,25,26,27). U just let him play into a Superstar. Lebron,Kareem is they exception, they came in the league with all the pressure in the world.
