The Birdy 3-piece shaker is a masterpiece of Japanese craftsmanship and leading technology.
Birdy uses a 10-step process to precisely polish the inside of the shaker.
The Birdy shaker is finely polished to an ideal smoothness to within 0.2 microns.
Conventional shakers are machine polished to reduce jagged edges, but not to maximize efficiency or the production of air bubbles.
This ideal finish reduces stress on ice and helps you create cocktails that are more thoroughly blended and highly aerated.

I have to say that shaking is "Shaking'"...no matter how you do it. That said, it's best in my opinion to shake the shaker horizontal, not up and down. Shaking the "Japanese" way using too much shoulder stress is not good.

You say that and you'd be wrong. Different types of shaking give VASTLY different results. The best immersion actually involves a bit of a twisting action as well as the up and down motion.

Shoulder stress? That's nonsense. It's mostly forearm. You're not grazing against the joint. You're going in and out like how you're throwing a jab. No harm done.

@@FoieGras FoieGras, sorry to inform, it's literally been tested several times, even by Dave Arnold, that shaking method doesn't make a difference as long as you're shaking hard.

How to use a 3 Piece Cobbler Shaker:
Step 1: Throw the shaker in the trash.
Step 2: Grab a 30oz steel cup and a tempered pint glass.
Step 3: Use a metal on glass Boston Shaker because cobblers are over engineered garbage that are inferior in every way.
