I read this for the first time earlier this year (in that same penguin collection). Loved it, absolutely stellar. Been keeping an eye for a copy of the Ceremonies ever since.
The Ceremonies expands on it some interesting ways. The horror doesn’t quite sustain across the whole novel, but Klein’s stories are dynamite.
Great short fiction developed into the classic horror novel 'The Ceremonies', both are masterpieces, The Ceremonies is a top 10 all-time horror novel.
