I visit the stunning El Retiro Park, which houses the Palacio de Cristal (Crystal Palace). Walk for free around the gardens of the Royal Palace of Madrid, and see the only Egyptian temple outside of Egypt, Temple of Debod,
We have 8 hours to explore but you can still do a lot with less time, just get out of the airport and see some of the wonders of Madrid.

Any tips regarding pickpockets and what to watch out for?
How long did it take you to get to the train station from your terminal? And how long was the process when arriving back to the airport to catch your flight? We will have 8 hrs as well.
From memory it was just a 10 min walk down to the station. You should still get back to the airport 2 hours before departure, don’t recall any issues but that can change daily.
