    I have loved Crimson since I heard them on Discipline (I think it was 1987 for me), then I saw them on the Thrak tour-incredible! But somehow I missed this song, now my favorite, until I saw the film Mandy (which is a whole other rant). This song and lineup are brilliant. No slouches play drums for them ever, but Buford is the man!! Also agree with the earlier comment on Wetton’s voice, so perfect for this song. For me, this song hits me with the force of an emotional hurricane. Especially at 10:30 when it all comes back around.

    • @koredono
      @koredono Год назад +2

      I was lucky enough to stumble across them on the Discipline tour: they played my college gym when I was a freshman on Halloween, I bought a ticket with my roommate without knowing who they were at all, but we weren't invited to any parties and thought it'd be a good way to spend the evening; possibly the best $5 I've ever spent. I managed to miss the Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair tours - I think both times when they played the city I was in for college I was away (maybe at home for a break?), so I had to wait for Thrak to see them again with a (now) long-time friend and fellow Crimso. And since then, I've been lucky enough to have seen those four in all kinds of different configurations: Adrian solo (he also played my college twice, for the Lone Rhino and Twang Bar King tours, and pretty much every solo tour since), with The Bears, with David Bowie (Sound + Vision tour), and the Power Trio; Bill on the ABWH tour and the Yes Union tour; Tony with California Guitar Trio and ABWH; and Robert with the League Of Crafty Guitarists.
      While almost all KC albums are really good, I think Red is my favorite.

      @christopherjobin-official7440 3 месяца назад +2

      @@AP-sd1flThats a misconstruesion of why KC ended up having 3 drummers from 2013-2021. The history of having multiple drummers in KC predates Bruford's departure in the band. The early Larks' Tongues Line-up feature Bill and Jamie, the Discipline sometimes saw Adrian Belew on a drumkit alongside Bill, and the Double Trio era saw Bill and Pat as the drummers. The 2000-2003 era of band actually only had Pat Mastelotto on drums.
      Fripp didn't want 3 drummers to make up for the loss of Bruford, all of KC's drummer at that point were beyond qualified to play Bruford parts.

    • @christopherjobin-official7440

      Fun scenario. Clarification just incase anyone thinks the song "Starless and Bible Black" was ever in the King Crimson setlist, it was improvised live on stage, just another "improv". The reason it features on the album "Starless and Bible Black" is because one of the main parts of that album is that half of it was composed of improv recorded live on stage. The album "Starless and Bible Black" is atleast 4/5 a live album in disguise, not much of it was made in a studio.
