Jesus Christ the amount of girls at Uni who harp on that adamant that they have anxiety but only when they’re slightly nervous or embarrassed or let down whilst screaming at another guy with severe depression to grow up. People are collecting and appropriating vague hard to pin down mental disorders like they’re top trumps and filling their insta bios with them.

From some responses I’ve heard in my life people think bipolar is just switching moods really fast but god its not even that, it’s so much more depending on what type and untreated can be debilitating. My mom and step dad are the only ones who really know and actually know about the disorder. I told my friends once but I swear it’s like they forget it’s apart of me and why I can’t do much with them. I’ve started treatment because one day I want to be able to live on my own.

Same case but for my case. I think like they don't really understand the pain and that we are not always responsible when hypomanic or manic. I've tried explaining to my mom and she just told me that's it's just some little things

I was diagnosed bipolar type 2 when I was 17 which was 4 years ago. And you know what I think I was always meant to be bipolar. Because the hypomania helped me to come out of my shell, I’ve made new friendships and had a lot of fun and exciting times since my diagnosis. But obviously there have been many, many, down periods, and I’m finally starting to realize that this isn’t something to get rid of guys, it’s a gift that lets you see both sides of the human condition too it’s fullest.

Whenever I tell people I’m bipolar, I stare down the ground and chuckle about it while saying it. But I don’t why I do that but feels like shame in a way.

I was in love with a woman who had severe depression. She was the same - she'd go 10 days without answering the phone, or calling. She had moments when she was so low she could barely move. But I loved her - more than anything on this planet. We never could make it work, and I still love her til this day. Sometimes I wish she could have trusted me enough to stay. I don't think she saw a future with us because of her illness. All I saw was someone I could love forever. I didn't care about the lows. I wanted to be there for all of it. It's an unfortunate thing to feel like no one can love you because of mental illness. It's just simply not true.

Not knowing I married a bipolar woman and it almost destroyed me, she was a liar, cheated constantly ,would scream hate and abuse at me ,later behave as if nothing had happened and didn't care that she was hurting people .I didn't find out she was bipolar till after the divorce. I soon realized life didn't have to be a constant battle .It may have not been her fault but I still hate that woman as much as any person can hate even though she died as a result of a bipolar aneurism.

@@mrchristiancea I am type 2 and I rapid cycle... without meds I can go through a high and a low within minutes. Bipolar 1 and 2 share similar traits but it manifests differently within everyone. We can't ever be too quick to make broad sweeping assumptions nor should we laugh, especially if we know all too well how difficult living with mental illness can be.

👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 Although I like the show I hated this episode. Is there any tv show/movie that really gets what bipolar is?? I dont get why they dont consultate the scenario to a proffessional. Bipolar disorder is not switching moods really fast, like i was depressed yesterday tonight i will be manic. I wish i can predict which mood state I will be in the future. Even people who dont have bipolar cant do that. Also depression lasts weeks to months and mania lasts weeks too. There are people who can switch very fast, its called ultradian cycling, but thats rare and not all psychiatrists agree with the phenomenon

I'm diagnosed Bipolar type 1, and I very much agree with this! When people say they switch moods several times a day, I'm reluctant to believe that is Bipolar and not another mental health disorder. My episodes usually last weeks or months, and I tend to need medical intervention to stop a manic episode.
