It hosted the 2nd All African games in 1973 and kicked off FESTAC 77. I was opportune to be at both events. Used to go out there with friends. This stadium should be handed over to Lagos state government for rejuvenation. I still remember the feats of Valery Oloyede at this pool. Thanks for bringing back those good old memories. We should not forget to continue praying for the souls of the stampede victims at one of the gates in the early 80s. I barely missed being a part of the stampede as I went out that gate just before the match ended.

Lagos should commandeer this stadium complex !
It could be turned into a most lucrative entertainment center for the Lagos mainland!
Why they are "dulling" I'll never know!!
    👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!!

A lot of work needs to be done on it, but I think it's still redeemable.

It was built in the 70ts . At the time it was one of the best stadium in the world. The entire sports complex needs to be completely rebuild.

There's no enough law to deal with people incharge the public funds, that's why Nigeria dont have good infrastructure.
Anyway, now that the video has been made i hope lagos state govt will find solution to it .

It's a metaphor for the Nigerian state itself; a reference point for the excesses of public officers and 'national assets' in a dysfunctional Federal Government.
