    Thank you. As a Yank I always wondered how you Brits found enough shells to shoot a double at four. Never occurred to me that you didn't do a station 8. Even though the shots at station 8 in the U.S. (essentially almost under the birds in the middle) are a bit of a trick shot, they are a lot of fun. Good video!!

      Those targets drop quickly at times at Bywell, once my goto range. Here in Australia now we do station 8 as in Usa, I believe target speed may be faster too compared to English Skeet. Funny how I actually used to shoot well in windy Bywell weather (Northumberland skeet doubles champion once in the 90s) I put it down to better concentration. Until one day a squad member pointed out why: the other 4 shooters missed the high bird on station 6 pair, I killed it. I simply put it down to my target didnt drop as much as there's. Until the guy pointed out it didn't drop as much because I shot before it started dropping, simply I shot quicker. It never dawned on me until that day.

    Enjoyed that! After 40yrs of shotgunning I’ve recently got into clay shooting. Didn’t really see the appeal but after some coaching I’ve become addicted to Skeet. I’m a lot closer to being 70 than 60 so I’ve come to it a bit late but twice a week I’m at the clay ground. I shoot on my own and find I become totally absorbed in every aspect of the discipline. After 100 cartridges and more focus and attention than I give anything else in my life I’m ready for home - but I’m back 2 days later. I wonder if there’s a cure for this?

      Hi Graham, really great to hear your story. As a youngster I used to shoot ISU skeet with Joe Neville in Tansley, Derbyshire. Joe was a left-hander with a mount smooth as silk and he was the English champion. But the book I read that helped me tremendously was "Skeet Shooting" by D Lee Braun. Like you, he came to skeet in his mature years, but became a great champion in USA. Remarkable story which proves the point that it ain't necessarily a young man's sport. I'm 60 now and getting back to skeet after a gap of 45 years or more. Eyesight ain't what it used to be, but the fun remains. Enjoy your sport for many years to come, my friend! ATB. Neil

    • @lloydyp
      @lloydyp  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks George, I specifically didn't speak about lead as the way I shoot skeet isn't necessarily the right, or teachable way to shoot it. I shoot skeet as a swing through bird, and as a result I shoot them a good few yards later than most "good" skeet shots and my lead is a function of gun speed and acceleration rather than measured lead.

      You're right

    • @payres48
      @payres48 5 лет назад +1

      In Australia we shoot the American style with singles on station eight instead of the pair on station four. If a shooter is clean after shooting high eight he/she then shoots two low eights to finish. Skeet is generally shot from a gun up position but it is optional. I also shoot sporting which is shot gun down here so I prefer to shoot skeet the same way for consistency of gun mount.

      American skeet has 8 stations. The eighth station is in the middle of the course between the high and low house if you were to walk straight between the two houses. The shooting order is the same as English, except there is no double on station 4. Those two shots are taken on station 8. Also station 8 is two pads connected, on one side you shoot a high house then turn around and shoot a low house. If you finish the round without missing then your last shot (25th) is a low bird on station 8.
