Frustrating that we didn’t get much of the distortion patches, because that weird digital distortion is something I want to get more samples of.
The distortion is the weakest part of the unit imho. Very thin, very digital. :(
Tearyoheadoff that sounds interesting fat/fluid, it's that roland doubling thang
It is!!! Its a cheap unit to buy now which is great :)
I had a loan of one of these from a mate, it had great sounds. Unfortunately his screen crapped out, I'm not sure If he fixed it.
I sell these on after I make a few vids with them. This one will go on the block soon :)
When the screen breaks down you can replace the memorie battery. After that you can control the contrast mode again. The screen should work properly again. You can also do a total factory reset. After al this the screen will pop up again for sure but your prests will be lost.
I need to find a replacement power button and I can't seem to locate one, any ideas?
@@techniqueswithtodd maybe at the roland service centre? 🤷🏻♂️
Are there lots of programmable parameters you can save or is it just presets?
Wads of programmable parameters!! I didn't go in to them in this vid, just running through presets :)
@@techniqueswithtodd There is a third party SW editor.
Can you link the third party editor? Love to try it!
I bought my go 16 back in the 90s but never really learned what to do with it Still have it but not sure if it is worth anything
They have been going up lately and seem to be around $150 or so. Great sounding unit imho!
@@techniqueswithtodd thanks. that is a fraction of what I paid in the day. lol
I know right? These are still cheap to buy. Seems like wads of old rack gear has been skyrocketing.
How do you love GP-16?...Something like no digital smell in sound?...Thanks.
It's a bit digital and retro after all it's a vintage rack unit :)
I like the time based effects (delay, chorus, reverb). Surprisingly there are a few overdrive preset patches that sound more than decent (Tube Singing etc).
@@techniqueswithtodd The doubling/Haas effect of that Roland generation is like no other! Shred!!!
@@bitcollector6285 I agree. The distortion is the weak bit.
@@reinout4872 It's the best part of the unit ;)
Can you place that in an amp’s effects loop?
Sure!! I'd turn off the distortion section in the rack unit first, then just patch it in and bam!! These are only like $100 on reverb.com
@@techniqueswithtodd With the gp-100 it was problematic
@@reinout4872 works ok on this one :) just avoid the distortion.
Cand I found the first effect in any pedal actually?
I don't know what y our asking?
@@techniqueswithtodd Wich is the name of the first effect...
Can be anyone of the 16 effects :) 12 at a time.
It sounds like a step filter set to random filter params each step. Bit of chorus and possibly ring modulation in there too.
You'd probably have more luck finding it as a plugin in a DAW.
Luv and Peace.
@@ianedmonds9191 very true :)
