As an amazing player and 335 lover you will love this guy Bill Nelson from a 70,s UK band Bebop Deluxe ,check out Adventures in a Yorkshire landscape on the album Live in the air age, his 335 tone and playing will blow your hair back !
Another thing I’ll add is what this unit really shines at is rock and metal style rhythm and lead sounds that IMO are world class. There are sounds right out of the box that you can record album quality tones with that rival anything. The way they integrated the OD/Boost and DD style delay and compressor is truly fantastic in that it’s mostly analog with a lot of cool tech and chips. I am currently doing an album with a Strymon DIG and Iridium with a KOT and there are tones here that I prefer. The stereo chorus can get frigging 3D and huge as well. The wah and phaser are a little bit meh but the rest of the unit is absolutely world class. For the money they are maybe the best value out there.
Dope comment my dude, I have four of them lol. I’ve been using a Mesa studio pre and a torpedo live for most of my guitar recording lately. I need to slap a gp8 into my bedroom studio rack!
When the nurse handed him to his mum at the maternity hospital they must have her a bag of nappies and a strat to take home, insane skills for such a young dude !
Peak Drunk Schenker! Ha ha ha ha Well done demo. Just got one of these and I’m looking forward to doing overdubs on our latest album. It’s impressive. The fact you can get them for 100 bucks is insane
Roland's always manufactured pretty high quality stuff ... professional gear i guess ..but I could probably have fun with that in the comfort of my home ..good video 👍
Wicked stuff, as always. Have you ever come across a GP-6? I think you'd dig it. Would be interested to see how it compares to the GP-8. All the best from Wales.
Thanks for stopping by Paul, nice to hear from you over in the land where history comes from! I’m hoping to come across one in the Japanese thrift stores, I usually get pretty lucky and find interesting stuff.
That’s awesome! This is the one to have, out of the series. Just gotta think about it as a vintage Made in Japan Boss only pedalboard all shoved into a box, which is exactly what it is. If I remember correctly you can use it in 4 cable mode
They were the perfect, streamlined accessory for a 2 channel JCM800 rig with channel switching outs, separate analog and digital outs for putting the delay and chorus in the loop and the other stuff in front. I don’t know that stuff has actuality become any more streamlined.
RIP. I totally forgot about Tommy’s brother, I just went and checked him out. I’ve got GP8s, a twin and some strats so I guess I’ll set up that cool tone he had!
Duno how you heard that stereo chorus and failed to start paradise city 🎸🤟 Edit: the satch thing around 12:05 sounds like cassette tape came off the reels 2nd edit: just realized i’m listening at 1.25x speed 😅
Youre a really sick guitar player and any great guitar player can influence a sound out of a shoe box. The GP 8 is not a great unit but in the hands of Gilmour it would be. I had one when i had moderate skills and when i got rid of it ad got really good pedals i sounded at leasat decent. Cliffy youre a kid with obviously intelligence and probably your parent hooked you up and with you tube you learned really fast so no pffense kid but you had a head start in many ways from moola and time to learn as well as many things, You could make anything sound good because of you not the gp 8 lol Sht when i picked up a guitar i couldnt even afford tab books that were fd up and if i wanted to learn something i had to watch MTV all night or rent a vhs tape to watch where Alex Lifesons hands were and rewind the tape to the right part and wait aw hile till the section came on. That and get fd up info from the neighborhgood hack who was a little better than i was. You young punks dont know how good you have it lol just kidding fn whippersnappers. lol
Haha I’m 36! I actually learned guitar from Cassette tapes and vinyl my dad and grandpa gave me! It was cool when RUclips got big in my 20s though, definitely a game changer!
@@cliftonwright7081 you tube got big in my 40s lol i was screwed and can only imagine what i wouldve been like lol. I got stumped and got to a level and kinda quit cause i couldnt find one teacher that could figure out hemipheres by Rush or how Angus or Gilmour were phrasing so well. Im just getting good now took me like 30 years and you blow me away.
@@cliftonwright7081 you had cds broooo lol. the CD player is your age what you mean you learned from vinyl lol just messing with you but you had decent tab books and i had PVG and you had CDs lol

Great job as always! So many toys....along with talent and skill, it must be great to be you!🤘😎🤘- Stan
GP8 is very underrated
bit of kit MIJ Alan Murphys secret weapon plus amazing musicality
Yeah it’s cool! I’ve been using it in my rehearsal/live rack lately in place of a pedal board
You got this "smooth" playing style.
It stands out 🎸👌
your tone and playing is great!
Man those kotzen style licks you played during the "satriani" section yeeeeeee
Haha, I was trying to play country but I had too much distortion!
Recently purchased one. Love it! Great video 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Thanks John! Appreciate you stopping by
Great playing and great sounds!
Thanks Fernando!
Killer playing and tone as usual!
Thanks man!
Great playing
I’m 58 years old & live at home on Long Beach California. Believe me bro, when I grow up I wanna be just like you Clifton!🤟🏻🤟🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎❤️🎸🎶
You totally Kick Ass Man!!!!!
Hey I just wanna add… NICE Git-Fiddle🎸🎸🎸🎶🎶🎶
Hey Richard! Thanks for checking out my stuff, I always wanted to play on the West Coast but joined the Air Force before I got the chance. Stay well!

Sehr gutes Beispiel.
Danke für die Vorführung.

😀
These units still sound great in 2022/ I have 2 of them, will get a 3rd !!!###
Yeah! I have a pile of em too lol. As long as you embrace that it’s a boss pedalboard in a box then they save tons of room on a pedal drawer
Roland's always manufactured pretty high quality stuff ... professional gear i guess ..but I could probably have fun with that in the comfort of my home ..good video 👍
Yeah! I have old boss pedals too but I like the idea of this unit replacing 8 of them.

Just picked up one of these for free in a recent buy, I was super impressed. But I gotta figure out how to use it!

And that’s a 35 year old processor too, my buddy had one back then but it was beyond our skills at the time honestly

How did you record this? Signal chain: GP-8 > ..........? Sorry if I missed that part!
Hmmm probably into the helix then my interface
It's a pity that the most important part which is the display of GP is very tiny and difficult to see... that makes me skipping quickly
Phil Emmanuel......Strat - GP8 - Fender Twin.
