The main shift I would make to this one (besides having all of the cultists constantly call out to each other with their deeply stupid codenames) is to make the ring easier to find and not require attunement. Since it controls the skitterwidgets, the opportunity for the players to start a boss fight by ordering the boss's minions to attack it seems too cool to pass up (even if it makes the fight trivial - the whole adventure is intentionally silly as it is).

@steelySam I am wondering what did you run once the tower was in space? What did you have follow this? Did you consider space the Astral Plane and maybe jump into Spelljammer?
I kind of want to have there be 3 separate towers. Two have already set off, one failed one successful and the last yet to be attempted.
Alternatively, have the rocket take off during the final battle and have the fight take place mid-flight before the PCs have to try and land the thing.
I'm not big into Dungeons & Dragons I'm pretty sure that magical candles exist but in DND can you make a character that specializes in magical candle making
Yeh I think artificer could fit a concept like that. They are all about crafting magic items, no reason they can't be magic candles.
