So about a year ago i got my first boat, started watching your channel. As a car mechanic i figured it be no problem to work on outboards. Yea i was wrong. But because of your channel ive been able to learn. In the last year ive repaired over 30 outboards, and made some cash doing it. So just wanted to say thanks. I spend more time now on outboards than on cars and never been happier.
Sweet!
Your new street name is going to be outboard whisperer.
him
Like it
He is amazing with these motors!
Lol, so true! He makes it look so easy!
Nice vids mmmmmm
Never tapped so bloody fast in my life good on ya mate keep up the good work 2nd
I'm useless with repairing anything, don't own a boat - yet I watch these videos for some reason
It's because of the of the boat guy's personality, he is so relaxed and casual that it makes you relaxed and casual. it truly is the ZEN of outboard repair.
It's relaxing and you learn a ton!
Me too.
Don't watch it. he's picking only some nice pieces (out of the ones he repairs daily) and mostly sells tools in "non located product advertisement" videos. He mostly cleans the boats dirty engines and boats. "I got an amazing deal on the engine. People don't know what they have..."
No. People mostly do know what they have. He just sits in the business deep enough to get 1 or two such "amazing" deals per week.
Go out buy an engine, clean it and it will be worth shit. Worn to death. I know I do it on my own. It doesn't look so easy in real life. It's not easy in real life just like all similar "great deals".
make the two of us
When I hear you say “I haven’t seen anything like this” while cleaning a carburetor we all know it must be bad since you have cleaned many on your podcast. Great job getting them all up and running and looking good.
When I heard him say that I was like nah that’s bs. I know this guy seen it all 😂
You get so lucky with these motors. Every slightly questionable motor I have ever bought basically needed machine shop work. Wish I could just pull a carb off or replace a water pump. Geesh!
I have the same luck must be a trained eye to pick the good ones
RIGHT?!? me too man lol
Would love to see a detailed tutorial on the 25 Merc gasket job buddy that'd be great 👍
As would I, been looking for a video and there’s nothing out there.
BUSHCRAFT AND FISHING WITH THE PIKEY I would like to see that as well
Me too
I love the restoration videos on boats could you do that?
@@nicvandervinne9155 Let me think. It's easy. Get a good service book and do it for yourself. Piece of cake you simply have to try.
Glad to see you're moving up in the world, it's the small youtube guy's like you that deserve it👍🏼👍🏼
Keep up the good work my friend
I started watching (and immediately subscribed to) your channel a year ago for your restoration work on center-console boats. But-even though I'm not a mechanic-I really enjoy viewing, listening, and learning from your work on outboards. This session was/is terrific, in every respect. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and expertise with all of us who are addicted to small(ish) boats, Keep up the great work.
Great video you have shown me that I can work on outboards, and maybe they will run when I'm done, thanks for again.
Love watching you return these boats and motors back to life! Also, I'm learning so much from your videos...keep them coming!
I love learning more and it is a good reminder for me of a late friend and the things we did.Keep up the good work!
Outstanding TBG! Your videos are informational and therapeutic seeing how you methodically troubleshoot the issues of these outboards and boats, and restore them to life. The Sternmaster products appear to really come in handy...I'm glad they provided the gear. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work...God bless.
I’ve always owned small outboards. It’s fascinating to watch you be able to diagnose anything and fix it
I love your videos. I had boat meters all my life, I'm no mechanic. I've learned a lot just watching you diagnosing all these problems with meters making it look so easy. Keep up the great work.
You are a wizard man, love learning from these kind of vids
Enjoy them all, moving back to Florida and when I get there I will look you up for my next boat or kicker motor, your videos helped me fix my merc 15, and I can't tell you how much I appreciated it! Be well
Awesome video! New to outboards - got a 2006 Mercury 15hp which runs fine thankfully but looking forward to learning how to maintain and your video is perfect for actually seeing various issues for first time - many thanks!
The difference between your old stands and the new stands is like night and day. You're going to have to hit them up for more. Great vid!!
Love the repair videos! Working on our first boat motor now, a77 Johnson 115. You make it look easy...but I know that’s experience!
make sure you do the thermostat and poppet valve grommets as per the service manual! not an easy job but easier if you have 3 hands:) starboard side ... if the cylinders get too hot must pull the powerhead and check the water deflectors in the block. if they are old and crusty they wont direct water up top. i tap a new indicator hose on the top starboard side to burp all the air out.
Love your videos, always learn a lot from you. You're inspiring me to be an outboard mechanic. Looking forward to your future videos. Stay safe and best wishes
Nice set of stands! Great job on the engines. Totally like your break down of your procedures.
I wish you would post more often! I truly enjoy your work, and its well worth the time it takes to witness it :)
You are incredible! We live in a throw-away society today. Good to see that there are people like you who still exist in this day and age. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you for sharing them.
This is a great channel, a lot of knowledge being shared. Thank you!
Great video - very educational - you have quite the.mechanical intuition - Thanks ‼️
You do a very good job man. Keep going that way, thank you for your passion.
Great videos of the quick fix on those engines. Keep up the good work 👍
I'm just an outboard motor now and your videos helps me alot ..... thanks bro
Love your videos on motors, thank you.
Awesome you got a sponsor!! I tell you what I have been looking for project motors (Boat, Generator, etc) in my area and I can’t find any! It’s amazing you even stumble on so many good deals !
Dang wish I lived in an area that I could come across the yammies like you!!! I just got my dad's 1976 9.9 Evinrude running like a top. Hadn't ran in 20+ years. Your channel gave me the motivation to get it going!!! Thanks!!!!
I like your multi engine repair videos. I dont even look for them. I see them and watch for entertainment. Thanks for uploading
Those stands are bad ass! I really like the smaller off-road style ones.
Love these vids. Learn so much every time!
Dude great detail on the Tohatsu float, thanks!
Awesome work as usual. That Yam 90 will be running when you are a grandfather
Dude your videos are always fun and informative I'm so glad you got sponsored man good things happen to good people
Your videos are awesome man really cool seeing you get these broke down motors running again
Subscribed! I dont know what's so fascinating about watching someone fix boat motors !
He explanations are so easy to follow. Not many people can teach well like this
As a boat mechanic myself I love your videos. Keep up the good work. Peace✌️
You're a pretty fair mechanic! I learn some good stuff from your videos. And I find them interesting in any event.
Great videos I learn a lot from this channel, you make look so easy like you're changing the channel on a remote control.
Thanks for the float bowl setting tip!
Loved it! Thanks for making it.
I DO thoroughly enjoy these videos on motor repair! I just bought a 76 Starcraft with a "Series 402" Merc 40 hp motor. It's been raining here solid for 3 days since I bought it, but tomorrow is supposed to be the 1st of many nice days ahead and I have been itching to check everything out! The seller did start the motor when I saw it 1st time - (dry - I didn't like that!) so it will have water this time and hopefully the impeller is good - but if not - just will need to replace. I'm starting with just getting it to run up to temp and go through the gears and after that will determine if I need to do carb work etc. By the way, got the boat/motor/trailer package complete with depth finder, oars, safety equipment, bumpers, lights - everything - for just $700!!! I'm planning to completely refurbish and customize the boat to match my truck and all new graphics too! :-)
Favorite kind of videos along with fixing up broken cheap auction boats
Great video and great to see a good sponsor on board mate.Cheers Rob.
Hey man I honestly would love to see more of these videos, I’m sure I’m speaking for many people👍🏽they’re gold your the man🙏🏽
Great video man I always set my idles just a touch high to allow for in gear idling torque and on a triple I make my centre carb a touch richer just to help cooler morning start ups

Why hasn't this guy got his own workshop. He really deserves one. Love his videos, and I don't even have a boat.

Would love to see more comprehensive repair/maintenance videos.
Thanks again. Great video 👍🏽
Very nice thank you for showing it on you tube have a nice day
Great job (as always) getting those outboards running. I'd really like to see a video on how you detail under the cowling. Also, any suggestions on how a DIYer can install a new rear Holder, Clamp Band on the upper cowling of a 2002 90 Yama 2s? Would like to use the rivets so that it looks correct.
I am so glad you made another video.
man this was awesome to watch I could watch this all freaking day I love messing with Marine engines LOL😁😁😁👍👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣
Good for you due to the work you've put into this channel this along with show and tell ...several years ago Kevin Costner stared in a movie named" A Field of Dreams" over all the tag line was built it and they will come...that is what your doing with your channel right...Good luck and keep building 'ThatBoatGuy'
You Da bess youtube channel, I would start to buy, fix and sell motors just from watching your channel. But I like staying home and do nothing for a living. Great job on the videos! man.
Love the vids man. The One-Armed Mechanic. Camera in one, everything else in the other. 💪 You should wear a head mounted camera.
You always make it look so easy!
Great videos man...keep em coming please 👍🤘
Another great video can’t wait for the next one.
Those motor stands are going to come in handy when you finally flip enough stuff to open up a shop! I’m excited to see where you are going with all this stuff....!
Man dude I really watching you fix these boat motors I'm a big fan
Nice new stands. That’s great❗️
Awesome video mate, keep it up 👍
A true mechanic not assuming goint thru the motions and gettin er done with some suds to boot!! great vids my friend! Johnne in Clallam Bay Wa
That Joe Exotic sticker on your truck though 😂😆
love the videos!! keep it up !
Great video, that 4-stroke Merc 25EFI "sips" fuel & gets great gas mileage, about double of a 90's Johnson 25hp 2-stroke that just guzzled enormous amounts fuel & oil.
Great job, thanks keep up with more videos and yes make a video of the head gasket job 👍👍👍👍👍
suggest that you get a 50g bucket for tank testing, using a hose to provide water can hide cooling issues (as you found with your recycling bucket)
and it's supposedly better for setting in gear idle... great work, good luck!!! I miss fixin outboards
Great video, thanks.
I love that old Dodge in the driveway!!
Great video , wish I new where you are for the future
Love the video..cant wait to see the next one😄
Holy crap ... You make it look so easy 👍
