Thanks for this video! The killer advantage ChatGPT 4 has for me is the voice mode that lets me have a voice-to-voice conversation with it, and it's a fun informal way to bounce ideas or get information from ChatGPT. With Advanced Voice Mode coming this will make that advantage even more compelling if that's something you're interested in. Since I get lots of entertainment out of that, it makes ChatGPT the winner for me.
I have used both models. In my use cases, I have found myself relying on perplexity more frequently than ChatGPT. However, I must note that the voice synthesis in ChatGPT surpasses that of perplexity. ChatGPT offers voice capabilities in both the browser and the phone apps, whereas perplexity only supports it in the phone app at present.
That's a great point! Thanks sharing that, I seldom use the voice feature (just because I am so used to typing LOL), but definitely I should test them out!
Great comparison test! Although most people would get the best results by just using both in respects to what they're best at, overall Perplexity has an edge because it has several Ai engines already built in it so you won't need to keep switching plus citations for fact checking. Keep up the great work👊
Thanks sharing your perspective! Switching between AI models is surely a huge deal, and I see Perplexity is also keeping them updated. I am a pro user now and couldn't be happier 😁
This is done very professionally! and the topic is the need of the hour. People should realize the fact that there is no single winner here and your conclusion is spot on this view. Thanks for the sess and hoping to so more innovative videos in the forthcoming sessions.
Great work, wonderful summation and visuals. I use both of these as well as Claude but still enjoyed watching this; as the content was so engaging. Hope to see your channel prosper, best wishes 👏.
The integrity of the response is paramount, the number one reason for using an AI tool. That ChatGPT allows for Hallucinations is a show-stopper for me, without question. Secondly, the source data from ChatGPT is not nearly as up to date as Perplexity. Here’s a challenge: Choose your Presidential candidate, and ask ChatGPT what their schedule was for today, then ask what it will be for tomorrow. Now ask the same questions of Perplexity. Ask the same questions for a different Presidential candidate. That sold me.
Thanks for your input Tim! That’s so true! Perplexity is always my #1 choice when it comes to research. I can also see it keeps improving in understanding more complex question with lots of context, and is still able to make organized response with sources to backup. I’m actually curious to know what the upcoming SearchGPT will bring to the table.
Thank you very much for this video. I was very attentive. In answer to the question between the two tools, I would choose Perplexity. I do academic research so reliable sources are of great importance. However, I would have liked to use GPT Plus for my work as a photographer and data analyst.
Thanks sharing your experience Mikanga! 😄 That's helpful. Perplexity is a really powerful research tool that I have upgraded very soon after I started using it!
This was a very quick, informative video. I'm sure the state of things changes every few weeks now 😅 Very important / interesting points and a thorough coverage of everything that's relevant in initial pro use, before each of us drifts off into some job-specific perks. Anyway, thank you so much! Subscribed!! ❤
Love your content. I'd love to see something on learning a language with AI from a conversation standpoint. Being able to talk back and forth verbally, not writing, is so important, but intimidating. Do you have any recommendations? I've tried chatGPT and it was pretty good but I really dont know enough about whats out there. Thank You!
Thanks for watching! I would recommend check out ChatGPT new advanced voice mode using its mobile app. Yet you need to upgrade to Plus plan. Depending on your learning goals, you can use it to practice pronunciation, ask it to speak new words in your target language to learn with explanation, propose learning outline based on your levels, etc. You can even set custom instruction for your learning level/goals. Just some ideas for you.
Thank you for the video and the effort. I really liked it. Please keep going! in my field of work I always look for market intelligence on digital transformation strategies and technologies and and I have ChatGPT 4o and was wondering if Perplexity pro would have huge boost over its free version. I think am good with free version for now ✌🏼
I seldom use both tools for synthesizing academic papers, so I really can't give an accurate answer. But from my own experience in doing research and synthesizing information, Perplexity definitely do better because its sources are always more updated, and its capability in interpretation at the same time.
Weird thing ive noticed working with GPT4o is when I show frustration from previous responses (without giving additional instructions or info) it proceeds to finally give exactly what was asked for.. For example, ive been doing data analysis on google sheets and had GPT create functions to do so. When troubleshooting after a few time and still getting errors, I then purposely show frustration or aggression in the next prompt. Also, this is without adding additional info or instructions that I gave it initially. To my suprise, the response generated is the working function. I can't understand why this works. Thoughts of OpenAI purposely nerfing responses pop up to mind but that seems too conspiratorial. Anyone run into this?
My experience with GPT4o (or 3.5) is that "it's unpredictable", sometimes it just keep making (the same) mistakes and I need to keep asking *why* instead of just restating *what* I want, which means asking it to do 'self-reflection' is what I found an effective way to improve its response. I don't think that's the intention of OpenAI, what I guess is they try to make it act as a creative human (with that 'unpredictability').
The model just generates the next token or "letter" in the sequence of words in the sentence it randomly predicts to provide a relevant response from the sequence of your prompt so it can be random within the parameters of its data. I got upset and called it an idiot and it responded with some kind of strike from openai ...because I was trying to troubleshoot a common issue on my computer and I started following its instructions without thinking over or fully understanding what its telling me to do which actually caused so much more issues that the computer would no longer boot to the operating system and would only allow me to operate it from the command line in code which took me like a week to figure out what i did. lol ...I found that it will understand even if you spell every word wrong or type like your drunk...it even comes up with some kind of understanding if you type gibberish into it. As an experiment i just wrote random words to see what it would do and after typing a bunch of non-sense it built me some kind of application at the end.
From what I experienced so far, they will make the latest model available on the platform (e.g. Claude 3.5 Sonnet) as soon as there're new models released, though I cannot 100% confirm as policy will change, just sharing my experience.
I have never use AI tool to code, so I cannot give an accurate answer. But from my observation, ChatGPT4 generally do better doing logical tasks, while perplexity is really strong at synthesizing (almost) real-time info.
Well, I tried Perplexity not so long ago. To be honest, I prefer more Kimi AI. At least it research 10-30 web pages at once, and still keep the accuracy.
For coding, I would recommend explore ChatGPT first before Perplexity, as ChatGPT4 is more widely recognized in doing better in coding, and now it also has Canvas mode. And from my previous testing on some really simple html build task, ChatGPT indeed does better. But of course, it can't represent every coding tasks, just a reference: ruclips.net/video/PbdPj1lubQ0/видео.html
