Chevy Cruze problems

- This is the third time I have had to take my 2014 Chevy Cruze lt to the dealership. I bought it with 54,000 miles with a warranty... And boy am I glad I paid for the warranty.
I love the car but 3 visits to the dealership in 6 months is bad :/
First problem was a camshaft seal ... It was making a really loud noise.
Second was a mutitude of things
1: camshaft positioning sensor went bad
2: left drive axle seal was leaking bad
3: water pump leaking
4: radiator reservoir leaking
And after all of that they forgot to add transmission fluid and it was shifting horribly.
And today ... This happens... I think it may be my turbo but still don't know.
I usually work on my own cars and am knowledgeable of vehicles. But this Cruze is something else. All I can say is buyers beware ...the warranty is worth the extra money !!!
I'm gonna guess underboost code for the check engine light and cracked turbo housing near the waste gate. Those cars can be fixed by pushing them into a lake and buying a Toyota.
Naw on mine I learned everything after 247k miles on mine I got a almost new engine with low miles most of the problems go back to water pump and thermostat but if you take apart the thermostat and just leave the housing the car won't give you any problems. Even with the thermostat open the car still reaches around 210 F 😂 freaking gm And replace the sway bars on both sides are made of plastic.
Or taking care of them
I drive one and I agree only by pushed into a lake and I’ve had it since it came out in 2014
No bro it’s called a Chevy Cruz I own one I have had six coolant leaks 4 oil leaks I also had combustion gases leaking from my spark plugs My turbo blew up last summer and now I’m having electrical problems that will either cause my car to have no power, or turn my steering wheel to the right randomly on its own. A Chevy Cruz has a curse when you fix one thing another will break that’s likely four times as annoying and same thing for the expense.😂 all this has happened in the car only has 95,000 miles.
This is was my initial plan 😂 I paid for the turbo coolant line. Now gonna spruce it up for a toyota trade in.
Don’t drive the car with turbo problems! The turbo “fan” can break apart and ruin your entire engine
You can also lift a Cruze engine out with one hand so big deal
My cruze did same thing. No kidding replace your gas pedal. There is a chip in it. Once it fails you go into limp mode. It takes like 15 minutes to replace. Then your good to go. I unhooked battery to reset computer after repair.
Mine was the turbo, sold it right after it was fixed under warranty
I had one. I think the trans was going.
Mine has been problematic from day 1. Have spent close to 3grand already and have had the car a little over a year
$2,200 repair for mines. Had it the same amount of time.
@@anarkismiles1 mines doing solid now. I replaced my turbo and catalytic converter and a bunch of other stuff just recently. If you know how to do stuff yourself it’s ALOT cheaper for this car. I now have a cold air intake and have it tuned running 168hp from the dyno
it would be a lot cheaper if you do it yourself. but honestly i am thinking about selling mine before something major comes. i’ve had 2012 manual 1.4 turbo for less than 2 months and i’ve replaced thermostat and already got another check engine light for air leak from hose giving turbo under boostcode
@@BlackouTTProductions i have the same car but auto. I have replaced almost everything all myself. If you’d like I can make videos of what you need replaced or we could video chat and I could walk you through everything. It’s a lot easier than it seems
@CruzenNBoosten how much was it for all that? My catalytic converter needs to be replaced and it's at 108k miles. At what mileage you had to replace all that
Had my Chevy Cruze for the last 5 years.. had to get a new engine at 120k miles then had to replace cooling system components and now ignition switch and fuel tank sensor..
Yeah unfortunately that model is just bad, I sold mine about a week after I had posted this video. I would recommend getting rid of it, it's just a terribly unreliable car
Yeah I learned the hard way.. haha I just paid it off so I’m going sell it and put that money down on a truck or something more reliable..
These things always happen with a full tank lol
Bro 😭😭
I gave up and got an older car a 2011 Camry over my 2015 Cruze I don’t regret the downgrade in technical capability it’d a lot better to keep $1000 that month then using it on a new repair
@@lukedavenport8576 me and my wife love our cruze I work on cars and have a fair bit of knowledge on the common issues of these cars so I address things regularly before they have a chance to go bad A bad turbo is a $300 part and a 2-3 hour job these cars are actually pretty simple to work on and allot of space as well. Car is still hands down better than all of the 4 Subarus I've owned
@@notyouraveragemechanic7376 Simple to work on - but not when you have to work on it all the time. All things considered, I'd take the Camry.
I stg I just filled my tank yesterday now today I have a check engine light like wtf💀
This car has endless problems, I have a 1.8L its been driving me crazy every time i fix something another thing come up, my mechanic been telling me to sell it for months since i kept visiting him a lot .
I had the same engine 1.8 a lot of problems, no A/C, overheating, PCV valve replace twice, battery replace twice, if you still have it sell before is too late
My 1.8 still going hard n I beat the shit out of it. Only replaced oil cooler one time n fixed a vacuum hose.
Yep here it goes again. I replace a hose, next thing you know it’s a bad sensor after replacing a hose. So these Cruze it’s always a problem. I have a 13 Cruze LT with air suction problem wasting gas (looks like an FREIGHTLINER truck
My advice after 247k miles remove the thermostat and just leave the housing this will fix about 80 percent of all issues of the car it will still reach temperature of around 210F even without the thermostat. do replace all the hoses by 150k to 200k miles along with the cooling fan and radiator this will save you so many troubles in the near future advice from a chick who has replaced everything but the engine and transmission lol this will save you money on the long run and tow trucks and getting stuck on the desert highways. Yes forgot do replace the regular oil for 5-40 synthetic oil engine won't burn it like it does with regular oil and will save you a lot of money on the long run. Remove plastic sway bars for metal ones, replace the negative battery cable every 100k miles if your car won't turn on and leaves you on the street every few miles cost 25 dollars most mechanics don't even know about this issue and think it's something else. Never replace the valve cover on this engine while it's warm learned the hard way make sure it's completely cold. So my engine is finally at the end of it's life I plan to buy another engine with low miles online not worth buying a new car if I already know how to fix everything.
I have a 2014 Chevy Cruz 1.89 turbo six speed manual and nothing but problems AC pump, purge valve ,shifter cable linkage because I couldn’t just buy just the bushing valve cover gasket , either ABS wheel or tire pressure sensor reader wire on both front are just laying there because the clips broke ….hahaha I bought it thinking I made a great investment , haha I thought wrong, specially after looking through reviews , I have 165,603 miles on it
My 2104 Chevy cruze is the worst car I've ever owned. First thing that happend about 4 years ago I had the oil changed by the dealer the next day the car started to shake went back to the dealer they did fix it under warranty then the battery went bad 2 times had to get 2 in one year then just recently the small water hose broke to the radiator then went to go smog it they said it did not pass because the turbo was bad then the car started bogging down when stopped the catalytic converter went bad because of the turbo was bad, it will cost about $4000 to fix I still have 2 months to pay on the car I wont be getting it fixed because the car is not worth that much it really sucks have been seeing many many of people say that the cruze is terrible
Wish I would have looked more about the car before I bought it. Thanks Chevy for making such a cheap car.
My best advice is to fix what you can and bite the bullet and trade it in, even if you have negative equity in my opinion it worth it.
I traded mine in for a Jetta and was happy with that decision, wishing you the best of luck !
Great ideia, check engine on and turbo problems, lets floor It!
Well of course ! If it's already fucked might as well fuck it some more.... in all seriousness this car was trash to begin with, at the point when I recorded the video I had given up on caring about the car. If I had actually cared I probably wouldn't have done that However the car would have been fine even though I floored it since it was in limp mode and was 1 mile from the dealership lol
I have a 2014 RS 2LT
After 120,000 turbo started causing issues.
Coil pack failure, replaced. Intake manifold caused turbo problems, Replaced. Last night I replaced the oil supply line due to a leak. Fixed the underboost code again.
Luckily the car was only 8,000 bucks at 68,000 miles and paid for itself after we sold the pt cruiser (which was worse than this car by far). Otherwise I’d be pissed. I expected to run into some issues with a low end Chevy.
Never buying a turbo charged Chevy ever again. Or a turbo period if I can avoid it. The majority of my issues are turbo related.
It also had a coolant leak. Fixed that too.
Double check the check valve in the intake manifold these engines love to eat them and everyone’s quick to blame the actual Turbo PCV systems on the 1.4 are junk while you’re at it may have to replace the valve cover if it’s squeaking
Hi
I have sam problem
How you fix
Because it says it’s revving almost 6000 revs per minute but yet the engine sounded like it wasn’t even kicking in
I had problems 3 and 4,mine only 47,000 miles on it
I don't have check engine light on at all I have changed multiple things on this car Front converter, front 02 sensor, knock sensor, map sensor, mass Air flow sensor, coil pack, spark plugs, oil cooler, water pump list goes on from here. Now I have code P0463 fuel sending Unit going
Turbo is done my friend.
This is most likely a clogged oil feed line, causing your turbo to overheat and seize the bearing. Once your car cools down it’ll drive like normal, but I would get that checked out before the turbo explodes like mine did last summer.😂
It’s probably the throttle body control sensor
Unfortunately it was the turbo, sold the car right after it was fixed under warranty
Looks like limp mode to me
Have you check the fuel filter?
Well it happen to my car because of the gear box. So its in the workshop now for Overhaul. Hope it gets better after this
Betta getta Jetta
Check pcv pipe (ridged) almost looks like cable insulation.
My car is doing this but we don't have a turbo. It's doing exactly what this car is doing. Have no idea what is wrong!!!!!
I'd take it to the shop fix it and sell it if you can, I had so many issues with my cruze, if you can buy a Toyota
Check engine will give you a pretty good breakdown of what the problem is From what I just seen I’m assuming throttle positioning sensor maybe mass airflow sensor clogged catalytic converter or a turbo give me a code and I will get you a AWNSER And solution
Turbo probably went. Had to replace mine at 100,000 tho
Yuppp
I have the same problem and sometimes it’ll sound like something in my engine is clicking like a fan is getting hit with a stick sound lmao. Anyway , my engine also gets really fucking hot but according to the engine temp gage it’s at what it should be. 🤷 I keep putting oil in it because I’ll check the dipstick and it’ll be bone dry and after I put some oil in it , it’s fine for about a week before it starts doing the clicking and losing torque just like yours , but I learned to try to keep your rpms somewhere between 2-4K if you’re just fucking sending it at 6k (like I was ) you’ll keep having and worsening whatever problem WE are having. I also got a code for the knock sensor. P.s I’m 19 not very vehicle savvy as I want to be.
Sounds like your oil cooler. That’s how mine was n I replaced it at 169k miles. Good cars they really are, people hate em cuz they don’t beat on em right😂 if you don’t full throttle your car every once in a while everything builds up inside your exhaust, motor, throttle body will gum up causing the valve to not open/close properly. Beat her every now n then n watch😂
@lukegreenwood2051 mines leaking oil badly I think it's the oil cooler seals but that's a really hard job to do. Any suggestions
The waste gate can get stuck open it does it to me every once and a while the goes away.
The big problem about a Chevy Cruze is being a Chevy Cruze
well dude, i'd lay off the throttle & rpms at that point, that car was TOAST!!! WTF ARE YOU THINKING? You really think driving around a broken car like that isn't going to make it worse? lol 6k rpms and 30mph max.... loving it.
Lol just saw this, this was my 9th time bringing this "certified pre-owned" car back to Chevy. When I made this video I was so done and frustrated with this car I really didn't care 😂. I traded it in 2 days later for a new Jetta. 3 years now going strong no issues.
Cheque the turbo the vastegate thing could have snapped happened to my car I just put it back on and it was fine
Plugged cats ?
Yeah that seems like about how much power my cruze has too lmao
Check ur catalytic converter
Clutch slipping problem
That looks like your transmission is in limp mode
Your map sensor
Can we talk about how it’s 113°F?
It's still fggkn hot 🔥 it's sept.
@@vdeadant fr tho
Turbo or might be the issue with cluthplates..
Twas the turbo, car was a lemon
Mines is a 2014 1lt
That same shit happened to me. It was bc of my valve cover gasket. There was oil in my spark plugs had to get it all replaced. Cost like around 500 total i think don’t remember.
I have one just paid 2 grand to get the head gasket fixed and they fucked up kn my car and the whole thing is shitty know
@@gtaforlife320trade it in
yeah same here. I had bad misfires and decreased speeds at full throttle. it was bad ignition coils and cracked valve cover. both ending up to be $500. but before Oil/Coolant leaks from the Oil Cooler gaskets. $1000 for a $2000 job. so im not complaining...
looks like your wastegate is stuck open. give it a smack and i bet it will close and build pressure again
Time up
I have a 2014 chevy cruze rs and mine does this all the time with or without engine light. I have had problems to where my turbo stops working completely and then rpms shoot to 5000 and sometimes 6000 and my pedal is to the floor with no power like you're experiencing. Do you find it happens more so on hills? Ive taken it in to chevy I can't tell you how many times for a multitude of different problems. On 4 different visits for this problem, each time they said it was the O2 sensor and replaced it on four different occasions. The next visit they replaced the entire turbo. The next visit they replaced pistons. Now it is doing it again and they can't seem to figure it out.
Jessi Hoecherl I've had mine in the shop 7 times in 9 months that I've owned it, as soon as I can I'm trading it in !
I have this car guys. It’s such a piece of shit.
Am experiencing the same issue
Ive got a 2015 chevy cruze 1.5 L turbo. When my wife and i bought it had 30,000 miles. We had to replace the turbo around 60,000. We thought we bought a lemon had it in show about 10 times the first 2 years. After that we kept up the maintenance drove it correctly and ive beem doing repairs myself haven't had it back nor any problems in 4 years. Take care of them get to know your car try to identify the issue before it gets worse amd the car will be a good car.
Throttle sensor body giving you mulfuction.
Damn and a full tank of gas 😢
maf sensor
Under boosted my gfs car is doing the same exact thing
say problem as me no turbo underboost
Ur reduced engine power lights on
If I bought a 1.8 NA Cruze, would I be better off than if I bought a Turbo?
Turbo adds hells problems I have one it sound good with my after market intake but there’s a new problem every week with it
@gtaforlife320 I am now looking at a 2004 Honda Accord. Probably a better buy for now but I still do love the pep of Cruzes
Throttle positioning sensor
Blown turbo
Exhaust leak
what is the problem because i have this problem
I took it in to the dealership, they told me that the turbo bearing blew and they replaced the whole turbo under warranty, if you can get rid of this car it's awful.
the speed its nott correct
Waste gate i have 2011 cruze it sucks !!!
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING...
Throttle body
Turbo gone
Trobody
What year
2014
There’s nothing WRONG with it……..other than you know….its Chevy Cruze.
Have them replace the catalytic converter.
FartsTrading Academy the turbo bearing exploded , according to the shop
How much did it cost to fix the turbo ?
It was covered under warranty but if I remember correctly at the time the invoice showed around 3-4k its been a few years so don't remember exactly
Cruze is one of the most problematic cars you can buy
Bad turbo put a big zzp turbo on there
My thermostat blew out after 2 months. For sale
