So glad you didn’t let the dreaded high school experience deter you from studying animation and enjoying it. I think you are a great artist and I love your artistic style and how you are sharing your experiences and talent on RUclips
I myself discovered anime only a few months ago. Funnily enough I was just looking for a random movie to see in a filmhouse with my Grandma (she's into films from other countries and cultures) and this film called "The boy and the Heron" seemed like it would be a nice change of pace. I loved it so much that I started watching many other studio Ghibli films afterwards and have since become a big fan. I never really got the chance to try anime since it was looked down upon during my teens for being too cringe as well. It's like you said, try to do new things in your twenties and in later adult life. You can always stop doing them if you don't like them, but if you do you can really broaden your horizon and share more interests with other people. There's still so much to discover!
The Boy and the Heron is so good! It must've been really interesting to have that be your first anime experience, I hope you enjoy whatever other movies and shows you discover! Have fun!
I got into anime when I saw my older brother watching One Punch Man on the TV. It was really intriguing for me because I didn't understand the art style at all; I thought it was kind of freaky at first. After a while, I decided to give it a watch and I absolutely loved it. So then, I began to seek out other anime, some of my favourites being Mob Psycho 100, Death Note, Tokyo Ghoul and Whisper of the Heart. I don't watch anime too often, but I do enjoy the art style and the themes that you don't typically see in Western animation. I enjoyed your video! 💛
Mob Psycho 100 and Whisper of the Heart! You have excellent taste hahaha! Love hearing your story about how you got into it, I've still gotta get around to watching One Punch Man!
Your experience is very interesting. I think for me, with how popular anime got, I usually don't have to worry about what other people think of me. So it's interesting to see a "blast" from the past.
It is a little strange realising my experience is probably 'a blast from the past' hahaha but the general consensus on anime really has changed a lot in a short time! It's exciting for what's in store!
there are some shows where in hindsight definitely seem way different than other cartoons that were obviously anime like bakugan or inazuma eleven, but at the time just seemed like the same sort of cartoons but with a different artstyle. Also my first videogame i ever played was bakugan on the nintendo wii and only recently found out they're both japanese
Yeah it's strange how we just accept them for what they are and only as we grow older these things get sorted and we realise how different they really were. Like I would discover that a show I watched was an anime as a kid and would always be confused as to why it was in Japanese hahaha
