That’s an awful lot of rage! Savagery describes it perfectly. And the silencer makes me think he was going to kill somebody eventually, he was angry young guy waiting to blow up, it just happened to be these three. He mustve thought he isnt going to get caught, Im so glad he was wrong. Not knowing is hard for the victims families, four decades is long time to wonder about who and why. Completely new case to me, well done. Those 80s neon lights were perfection!
I love all the 80's themed things, like the background music, stylized neon writing, etc. It brought back memories and really helped place these events into my own timeline. Thanks!
This was an EXCELLENT piece of journalism!!! I commend the detectives who solved this, the prosecution, and certainly commend you guys for this magnificent documentary 👍

While I agree with you, morally, the courts have to take into consideration a lot of things when granting bond. If his record all those years was clean, and the object of his original rage is no longer alive, then he really doesn't (in the court's opinion) pose a threat to the community. His finances (i.e. his ability to flee to avoid prosecution) play a role, as well. Bail is granted when the likelihood the subject is to reoffend or flee is minimal. I can only assume this was the case. It still makes me a bit angry, though.
@@lauraduplooyThat’s laughable😏 That’s extreme leniency when the prosecution is accusing someone of a triple homi.. And Adding to that, the fact that they never asked for the “Penalty” is also strange as hell.
@@PortlandCripsterThere will always be a gulf between what society and the courts deem appropriate . This is yet another example of the need for criminal justice reform. I’m so glad this case was finally solved. I’ve lived here most of my life and still drive by the building nearly every day. It’s a constant reminder of the tragedy that happened so long ago.
I can barely hear them talking because of the background music. It is very distracting. I'm 12 minutes in and I really love this series being from Houston but just a friendly suggestion - PLEASE turn off the annoying background music. ♥
I love evidence room so darn much. This show is impeccable! I moved to houston in 2011 but had to leave a couple years after Harvey. Houston is my whole heart and i miss it so much but i watch from WTX every time there's a new episode. Keep them coming ❤
Crazy! I don’t remember the murders but I remember the business. Used to see some really sweet cars down there. This is just crazy! How was he able to slay 4 people with just a 22 and a screwdriver? Were the others in shock, too scared to move because of what they are witnessing, until it was their turn? I think this took more than one person.
I worked right across the street at Sonic and my sister was best friends with Beth's sister. What a shocking time in my life. I can only imagine how the families felt. It appears that Oatis had a little daughter. I know the Wilburn's were devastated. Great reporting.
Manufacturing and/or possessing an unregistered suppressor is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison. How did the former roommate feel comfortable telling the Feds that he helped make the suppressor used in the commission of this crime? Was he granted immunity? If so, how did that come about? Was it, “Hey, federal agent, I have something to tell you but need immunity”, which I would never trust, or did he get a lawyer and broker the deal?
In his earlier photos, there's something not quite right about him. Developmental issues maybe? They said he had a hard time learning to be a mechanic. Possible connection? Also, he bought a gun and puts a silencer on it that's permanent, so we'll before the murders. Did he just think it made it a cool thing, or was he planning something else? Maybe not this, but this came up first. Anger just took him over. Sad.
Easy for a cop / FBI agent to say hindsight how smug the 'suspected' killer was, and that he didn't think he'd ever be busted... How about this.. It took law enforcement / prosecutors 30+ years to charge him and take him into custody.. DO NOT be so brash and a holier than thou 'investigators' when a killer lived free for 3 decades +!... Wasn't sentenced until 40 years... IMO, this is what is so littered with garbage in the true crime and cops talking about cases genre... Far too often they get to go back after years and years and re-write the record in these accounts.. There are some rock solid top tier investigators.. There are far more who are lackluster at the best of times, and criminally negligent many others... I actually was in that shop and met Ms. Wilburn when I was maybe 9 years old with a friend because of his love for Corvettes (his father owned a bunch! Gen 1 (1/2) as well. She was very nice to us but I did recall she could be 'terse' to a few people I think worked there.. I clicked on this video because the shop and that incident were long ago forgotten until now.. RIP.. I do believe they got the right guy... But, everything I stated above, I feel is 100% legit.. P.S. Could someone please tell that asst. prosecutor or her makeup person to pop that darn zit/s on her face..
I constantly say the same thing when I see these smug investigators using the benefit of hindsight and evidence to “put it all together”, as if they knew it all the time. This former Leaque City cop turned FBI agent is the exact same way. The male prosecutor who was interviewed as well. They won’t take any credit for such a flawed investigation in the years after the crime, but boy oh boy will they take the credit for solving the case. P.S. that oily sheen on her face was cringe worthy.
At least it was solved And they got a conviction. I can tell you that when a family member is murdered and they solve it and arrest- but the perp has tons of family money to win appeals over something extraneous. Well, it doesn’t sit too well.
There is no difference between a silencer and a suppressor, they are two names for the same device: I would of thought you would google it to make sure you new what you're talking about but I was wrong,so I did it for you sucker!

I came to the U.S. from Ireland in 1999 as a 19-year-old painter. I went on to join the army (MOS15U) before even becoming a citizen. (I had a green card) Anyway, my nephew was murdered in Dublin in 2012 & his killers goth 4 years & 6 years. One of them hanged himself in prison & the other was shot dead after serving less than 2 yrs. Much of my family are involved in crime in Dublin (armoured cars, holding area for banks, I.e, the banks bank). So after finding out who they killed they snatched on everyone they knew had committed a crime & the judge rewarded them for this.🤮My family name is destroyed in Ireland because the media claims we are a cartel, as opposed to a family who sought justice for our kid. This got out of hand leading to 16 ppl shot dead across Europe. My family had to go up against the Kinahan cartel who was protecting the killers & we’d do it all again. We got to protect our children. 🙏

One at a time. The first victim, Beth, was a woman up against a stronger man. The electrician was tangled up in the chains being used to hang the new lights and likely wasn’t in a position where he was able to get away. The boyfriend came to investigate and Dean got the drop on him.
