These fish are one of my top five favorite aquarium fish. They have a charming personality and when tank conditions are at their best these fish show some beautiful coloration.
Hello from 🇬🇧 Nice video. I got one on Saturday to go with my other Dwarf Cichlids, until I see them on Saturday & researched them I'd never seen them before or even knew about them. I only got one as I wanted to see how it worked out but I feel I should get at least another 1 or 2.
Been a hardcore fish guy for 2 years . Five tanks, kept almost a hundred fish and am a member of my local aquarium society. How come I have never heard of dwarf acaras? I'm a new world cichlid guy too. Thanks for this.
Have you had any luck with a pair? I've got a couple of these but I'm trying to find out if there's something easy to distinguish between males and females? I read that females have white spots in their dorsal fin, but I can't find any images on the net for this, I think though I might have spotted a couple in your video? Thanks for the help!
+FishPie I have not had any luck with a pair. Early on I thought I had a pair as two of the fish in my group were smaller. But eventually they all grew to the same size. I read an article a while ago that it is often difficult for reasons unknown to obtain a female -- even when buying large groups. I have not heard the white spots theory. Please let me know if you have any success with this. -- jc
+fincasters ah that's a shame ! The two I've got swim everywhere together, which seems like a good sign did yours bicker with each other ? The white spot thing I found on here www.theaquariumwiki.com/Laetacara_dorsigera which I thought I saw a couple in your video had! Anyway I'll let you know how it goes might do a video on them! Thanks for the reply
gotinnout88 I believe they would do well together. Especially if you put them together when the Blues were not adult sized. I would recommend lots of hiding places as well. The Blues will be a bit more aggressive than the dwarfs -- so they will need some places to feel comfortable while they all learn to get along. Please let me know if you do this and send some pictures!

Absolutely charming little fish. This is a species I've been wanting to keep for many years. Thanks for the video!

+Matthew Haley They can be hard to find. Need a good LFS that will order them for you.
Just wanted to know if these dwarf acaras would do fine in a tank with the blue acaras?

この魚、日本じゃ手に入らないんだよね。今はもう中年で中学生の時からずっと欲しかったんだが。
