  • You don't always need fancy saws, and power tools to work with metal. Even simple projects can be done with good scissors, tin-snips and - something a lot of engineers seem to have hardly ever heard of - NIBBLERS!
    For relatively little cash, you can have use some great tools to speed up your prototyping, when plastic and card are not robust enough!

      There are two types, one is chip nibbles and the other is strip nibbler. The former one can make a round hole square and cut from inside holes called a die punch type nibbler.

    Hi. I want to cut the metal mesh used when you put up plaster. Which of these or similar would you suggest please? Thank you.

      Try big scissors first (I've found hey can cut a lot more than I imagined). Otherwise, the Tin Snips should do it.

    What thickness aluminium would the tin snips handle? I have a couple of ideas for projects coming up that will probably need 1mm and 2mm Aluminium sheets. I was going to use my jigsaw, but some of the stuff I want to do is quite small and intricate, and I feel it would be safer to use snips if they would be up to the job.

      KingBollock 2mm will be fine. You can’t corner easily as mentioned but it’ll certainly cut.

    Hey man
    One doubt
    Can Tin snips used for cutting like Stainless steel ruler in our stationary shops?

      @JudePullen  3 года назад

      Doubtful. But the Nibblers probably can. Though I’d suggest a hacksaw to be honest. Good luck!

    You don’t mention the names of these tools very well. I’d love to go buy the last one but you never say what it’s called.
