- I won't call the song "Hairmageddon." HR doesn't like it.
This may be a controversial take, but I always felt that the music to Splatoon 3's final battle against Mr. Grizz was a little underwhelming for climbing the side of a rocket to fight a messy space bear. It gets REALLY good once the true showdown begins and the Squid Sisters/Deep Cut/DJ Octavio collaboration kicks in, but the first phase of the fight needed a little something more to keep the energy up! This week I thought I'd take my own stab at a boss theme!

If there will be a rainbow Alterna, this should be the boss music. This guy needs to be like a video game composer.
For those who don’t know what I’m talking about there are mods for Splatoon twos hero mode and OCTO expansion called rainbow Canyon and the rainbow expansion which are harder versions of the original

I feel like the boss theme we got in the real game wasn't necessarily bad, but, like, not a boss theme. It felt better suited for something like the Fecto Forgo fight from Kirby in the Forgotten Land. Now, this is a boss theme. And it's still got that Mr. Grizz motif in there, plus salmon run elements. Gotta love it!

@@NoteBlock I'm making a new update for Splatoon 3's story mode revealing that the true culprit was actually DJ Octavio manipulating Mr. Grizz. I'm having the "Secret Final Boss" be like a Salmon Run level going in three different waves. The first wave being an Octarian ambush, the second wave being a fight with Octolings & the third wave be the boss. Can I please use this as the music for Wave 1? I'll give you credit.

I personally think the original fits the situation during the boss battle really well, but I love your take on a boss theme, well done!
This one feels more like a second phase of the fight where things are more going your way, it could work really well as a replacement for calamari inkantation 3-mix
To me, this feels like a second phase where it’s actually going more Mr. Grizz’s way, so it would be a phase between the first phase and the Calamari Inkantation phase.

You also can’t forget that he’s an abnormally large, extremely intelligent mutant bear who managed to survive a Noah’s Ark type rocket ship crashing on earth, who runs a business and speaks solely in business terms.
This is such a good take on a new theme! I love how the orchestral hits add a ton of suspense and contrast the otherwise electronic and upbeat soundtrack!
If this doesn't appear in game for a rematch, we riot.

Phase 3 Grizz sounded good, but yeah I agree the first two parts needed spicing up. This is a great take on it! ✨️ got that Splatoon high energy melodious effects that makes the OSTs memorable to me imo
Well the first two phases were supposed to be unsettling
I think "Bear With Me" makes perfect sense for Mr Grizz. He's a bear that runs a business that's made if fuzzy ooz and wants to destroy the world. But this could definitely work as like, a twist final phase after the calamari incantation. Where he goes, "Alright, if I can turn all marine life into mammals, I'll just turn your home into them"
This is what i imagine the song would sound like if the battle was on a basic platform, with grizz contstantly hopping back and forth, hitting you.
And now this, this would be the theme for when he goes full bear. Screw sitting there and taking it, RUSH MODE!

The beginning makes it sound like Grizz being an Xtrawave fight for Salmon Run and I love it

Xtrawave siren goes off and everyone prepares for the fish fight... only for a giant meteor to crash from the sky, uncurling to reveal Mr. Grizz.
Grizzled Voice: Wh- what!? Grizz is back? Take the egg cannons and GET RID OF HIM!
Grizz: Hello again valued employees. I am afraid your new department manager has made too many changes and must be given the pink slip. Please step aside, or I will be forced to cut your pay, and you, in half.
The fight would feature little to no salmonids and instead use Alterna enemies, and you'd just have to wail on Grizz as he changes the tide by jumping into the water, uses all his attacks from his bossfight repurposed, and even surrounds certain parts of the area with a makeshift fuzzy ooze (you can just shoot the fuzzballs to get rid of it.) You'd have 250 seconds instead of 100 because of just how tanky Grizz would be. Occasionally goldies will spawn to provide eggs.
The fight would end with Grizz getting blasted back to space (success) or the Grizzled Voice saying he'll have a more suitable team handle Grizz. (failure)
Got bear problems? Call Heavy Weapons Guy TF2, he'll wrestle any bear to death.

Every time noteblock posts a final boss theme you know ur in for some good shit
OK I get what you mean about it being a bit underwhelming, but at the same time I think the original was going for a more isolation based theme than a climactic or boss fighty based one.
Like your surrounded by the vacuum of space so help is incredibly limited and not even not even Mr Grizz considers you a serious threat up until you're about to pop his last zit which is when the theme is at its most intense.
The 3mix may even play into it since it'd be following up an isolation based theme with a more "everyone is here" kinda theme. You know "power of freindship", "can''t do something alone" and all that.
Not to imply your take is wrong, just that I think they went for as tame of a theme as they did for a pretty good reason, assuming I'm guessing correctly.

Unpopular opinion but I actually like the OG a little better. The unsettling and almost alien tone fits much better with the situation and what you're fighting. Fanmade song still slaps though!

Similar to EX bosses in Kirby, this would be the theme of Mr. Grizz EX. Or Mr. Grizz's Revenge, or Grizz Soul, or somthin'.
God after reading Grizz Soul I immediately thought of dark souls, and now I'm wondering if that could work in splatoon, maybe it could be called Splat Souls, and it could be like an ultra hard mode. Doubt It'll happen but fun to think about.
