When people in court say they are "trying to" do something, it usually means they've thought about it once or twice. They're trying to: move, find work, pay rent, get financial aid, call probation, file documents, etc. etc. etc. 😵💫

@@tt14life90 Unfortunately, Michigan law is heavily slanted in favor of the tenants, and the judges have to enforce the law as it's written in the books.
You'll see the same thing in Judge Simpsons court when he's handling landlord-tenant cases.

We have been actively and aggressively looking to move but we can’t find a place that will allow us to trash the place and not pay them rent. They want all these requirements like payment and no evictions 😂

Nah, come on now. Let’s look at the facts.
The landlord filed a poor notice to the court regarding trying to make them move claiming damage. They didn’t argue the rent issue.
If they wanted to argue the rent issue, they could and that would be hesrd instead.
As it is, the judge can only hear what’s filed in front of him. And the facts alleged were weak. No specifics about what was damaged. when it was damaged, where it was damaged, how much it cost, or anything else.
Imagine someone trying to throw you out of your house and they give so little evidence and the judge takes that little evidence and orders you to be out of your house in 10 days?
He’s being fair and trying to protect all parties based on a weakly filed case.
People work so, so hard to not have a job, it's amazing. 😂
I would NEVER get into the business of renting. Tenants have way more rights than landlords.

Lawyers always draft orders. I've never seen a jurisdiction we're lawyers weren't required to draft the orders for the judges to sign. Judge Simpson does it all the time so does Judge Fleischer

It's the same here here in the UK its a nightmare they move in pay 1st month rent and security deposit then stop paying then you can't get them out,they come up with all these excuses of repairs, no heating hot water it goes to court back and forth the Judge 9/10 goes in favour of the tenant while your racking up thousands in arrears of rent and can't pay the mortgage and lose your property sometimes it takes 1 to 2 years to get them out the government should make it a criminal offence and jail time. I have been following that scammer woman Candace clarke,dixon or whatever she calls herself doing this for over 20 years in USA not one bit of jail time and it's not just rent evictions she has stolen mortgage money!!! How do these scum get away with it it's disgusting!!

Tenants like this are the reason I got out of rentals. I just sold the properties years ago and put the money into the highest interest bonds/CDs I could find. Easier and no more constant headaches.
What these deadbeats don't seem to realize, is that just because a landlord files an eviction and stops asking for rent, it doesn't keep the landlord from suing them later in a different civil case for past rent and damages owed.

I lived in a one room apartment that resembled a storage locker in a city without available rentals. I paid the rent until something better came out.

Being a landlord can be a real pain. I have had the same tenants in my one rental property for 10 years, and they have been perfect! What a blessing. But before them, OH MY GOSH, the money, time and effort I had to put out there to get rid of bums who wouldn’t pay.

DiMio's behaviour makes me think he and his family are very unpleasant tenants. It seems to me that the testimony indicates the damage they have done - broken window, screen door, skirting and graffiti. She says she has pictures. This is Middleton protecting tenants as he often does. I see that is a good thing and a bad thing in a judge. In this particular case I see it as a bad thing. DiMio is a horror.
This is why I couldn't be a landlord. Many are predatory, but there are many good ones too. I would loose my mind dealing with someone like this.

If I was the owner/landlord, with regards to the move out day, I would have said they can stay the extra 17 days if all back rent is paid within 9 days, otherwise they get kicked out in the usual 10.
