Either model or the base Stingray will offer a fantastic driving experience IMO. I’ve not had the opportunity to see the ZO6 or ERAY, but with the Stingray and 495 horsepower with the Z51 Package it offers better all around performance vs just about any “stock vehicle” sold by dealerships. I consider myself very fortunate to have the Red Mist HTC Z51. Anxiously awaiting more information on the ERAY vs The ZO6 once into the hands of the public!
Hello 👋 My experience with the C8 Z51 until recently was two 10 lap track events in Speed Vegas! When Justin and I did our Ft. Lauderdale and the Keys excursion, my C8 Z51 rental with GT1 seats was great! That definitely solidified how pleased I was in the C8 platform. The E-Ray will better suit my use of the car once I obtain one ...ha ha ha 😈 -Shane
Great overview! Like you, I'm more of a ZO6 guy. A friend of mine moved off the ZO6 list to become #1 on the eRay list. Two others opted for a regular C8 due to cost of the ZO6. I moved from #6 up to #3 on my dealer list but they haven't had an allocation a single ZO6 yet.
I am always going for Awd beacuse that intial acceleration take off that you really feel. Its so fast at 0 to 60. Its amazing. I really wish they would just make awd v8s in general.
My 2C ,I have been driving a Mclaren 650S for the last 5 years and in that time I went to the track 3 times. This car is seriously fast but the turbos experience lag so you need to be going quite fast Before you go really fast which causes problems on the street. I am looking forward to the electric boost of the Eray and I am hoping it will give me a better daily driver experience. I, too, understand the allure of the Z06 as to cost of operation and track focus, but for me the track is just a fun thing ever so often and maybe the Eray will surprise me there if it ever gets that far. Heck, I'm not going to Randy Pobst any competition anyway. Happy driving!
I finally seen a z06 in person today and man oh man. I did not hear the 5.5 but the way it look I'm comparison to the sting ray the z06 looks 10xs better
Either one for me, which ever comes available first to me. Looks to be the E-Ray with a much lower waitlist number. I like the wide body looks and it will have more than enough power for me. I will miss having the awesome sounds of the LT6 engine.
The fastest car I ever owned was a C5 Z06. That thing had 405hp and it was very fast. The idea that the base corvette today has 90 more horsepower than my C5Z is so crazy to me. I wish any one of range was in my budget right now lol

I understand why the eRay exists, but as a pending Z06 owner it bothers me that the eRay uses the Z06's wide body. It somehow makes the Z06 less special. Since the eRay has the Stingray's engine, it should have the Stingray's body. (I know it's because GM wanted to fit the wider tires on the eRay). I especially dislike the body colored trim on the eRay; it somehow makes the car look bland. The black accents highlight the body's interesting contours on both the Z06 and the Stingray. I'm not anti-eRay and I do find the hybrid tech intriguing. But you can definitely chalk me up in the Z06 column - wow, that LT6 engine!
I understand that the contrasting accents look good to many but if you look at any of the other Super and Hyper cars none of them have the kind of accents that the C8s do. I think the body colored accents make the car way more classy and much less hillbilly nascar. I've seen them in the wild and they look great. But to each their own. I should have my Z06 somewhere in that May-June time frame with the body colored accents.
I have my order filled out sitting at my dealer for the Z06 waiting for allocation, I have a very low number (60) but many lower are not able to order due to various constraints, the number 29 guy has his order in already even though the dealer only got 7 car allocation in January, (my dealer is one of the top 4 in the country so their future allocations will be pretty high) with any luck will get my Z in late spring early summer. I am also on the list for an E ray. which I think for me is a better fit however my number is 230, I may keep the Z for 6 months and sell it if the E ray becomes available. However I really don't think the E ray will be available in any numbers for qjhite a while. Bowling Green recently shut down due to a parts shortage so not even Stingrays were being made for a few days. I think all this talk about the E ray is premature and likely my 230 number will be at least a two yr wait.

So you don’t have to get a wide body zo6? I bet if they did have body options on the e ray and the zo6 a lot of people would get the slim body to save on gasoline and I think a wide body slows it down🤷♂️
E-Ray is not an economy car, how does it get pass the Gas Guzzler tax? E-Ray is a great choice if you are too far out on the Z06 otherwise I would go a Z06 without Cup 2 tires. I do like the center exhaust and could live without the ceramic brakes. Plus the history making LT6 engine.

@@polystictus I have a 21 C8 no gas guzzler tax actually it gets very good highway mileage over 30 at 75mph on the expressway ave about 22 overall better than my dog hauler Chrysler Pacifica.
I have gone with the Z without the Z07 package because I didn't want the Cup tires, too squirrelly in the rain and it takes too long to get them to temp where you really use what they can do. They really are a track tire. I'll get better everyday traction on the road with the 4s tire. Also I really don't like the huge wing, even though I do like the front spoiler on the Z07, so for me Z06 HTC 3LZ
Good video. Couple things though: You spoke about the 15hp advantage of the Z06 but neglected to mention the 135 lb-ft torque advantage of the ERay. Also, stealth mode allows you to go up to 45mph, not 40. I have a deposit on both @ MM. Pretty sure I'm going with the ERay.
The ERAY will be BETTER ON TRACK than anyone understands at this point. Does anyone remember the Randy Pobst Porsche 918 vs the McLaren P1 test? The ZER carbon fiber wheeled car will pull out of corners with a ferocity that will give McLarens Artura all it can handle for FAR less than half the price. The regen small battery idea will see multiple benefits out on the road the Z06 just simply cannot match, BUT IT TRULY IS A TOTALLY DIFFERENT AUTOMOBILE. Its pure radio silence from Europe on the entire C8 lineup its SO good.
Not a big fan of hybrids. You end up with any and all gremlin's in the electric component and gremlin's in the ICE component. So all in on one only, not a composite of both.

I like your stuff but most of you guys, are tunnel revvers, not track people. I don't think Streetpeed 717 could find his way to a track let alone drive on one.
I didn’t say I was a track guy, I said I was a track car kind of guy. With that said, I have been on the track with my c8 twice and the video is on the channel, with intentions of going on the track again this summer with my ZR1.
The environment is what it is, the environment won't ever be perfect, realistically, relatively clean, but the ev won't ever hold up to the gasoline systems, just won't ever happen, the electric fires prevention factor doesn't have a record yet and probably won't ever have a good record, the ev of the future is one bad mistake

A track focused car can be enjoyed on or off the track but I'll be on the track from time to time regardless. I had my C8 Stingray on the track twice and even made a video of one of the times I was there. I had it on the drag strip 5 times as well.
If I was in the market, I'd go eRay. I have a C7 Z06, with Z07 package. And I haven't tracked it. I've done several Mercedes AMG driving academy's, driving their cars, at speeds. But that wasn't my stuff. I enjoy spirited driving. And I'd guess 90% of the folks who have the performance option don't track them. But then again I am out of the market, purchased a boat (150k cash) because I didn't like Stealers gouging everyone with additional mark ups,. I also ordered a New 2500 Ram Rebel to tow my boat. Went with Ram because of the way Dealerships were handling C8 sales. Sorry GM until you get your Dealerships under control people like me will go else where. Try Tesla model sell direct to customers, on models Dealerships can't handle correctly.

Probably in GM's mind, any Corvette with a price tag higher than 100k should use the Z06 wide body.

The gas guzzler tax is calculated by miles per gallon, and the ERAY is very likely to have a better miles per gallon than the z06
