He basically was in a small capsule in an experiment to prove that the void wasn't just empty nothingness, but similar to science fiction warping he bumped the 'edge' of his tunnel which broke his capsule. Instead of being thrown into lifeless nothing he felt like he was back in his lab. But it was the Man In The Wall who greeted him, taking his form like he takes on your operators form. Just like with rell being put to rest, the man in the wall's implied intention was to leave the void and enter the real world in his place. 14:31 is a reference to something in railjack, but when the door was shut to the void the man in the wall's finger (the copy of him anyway) was severed. He studied it and the study of this finger led to the inventions of the solar rail network and long term, the tenno powers by accident.
However he had a scary thought, what if he was the copy? He decided not to take any more kuva, thus when he died he died permanently. Mother mentions hearing her father 'pounding at the untime door", this is her hearing the man in the wall trying to get through, rather than her real father.

The last sentence is for some reason absolutely terrifying

He went through a portal, saw the man in the wall, the man basically called him a childhood name just like "kiddo". When he escaped the void he was blind and mute. After his discoverey the void was used a lot more such as void drives, and othe tech and the 'zariman incident'. Its ok that u didnt get it on the first try, i didnt either plus DE loves their poetic writing

I know right?! I think the Poetic side of it really can throw you off I love it and wouldn't change it but its almost Shakespearean!

@@Zall I think its DEs greatest strength in their lore making compared to every other game. Their poetic writing brings out the otherworld-lyness of the orokin and their theme of being self made Gods. When they speak of the void in that way it makes it wayyy better than being cut and dry about a different dimension

You did interpret this very wrong. He was by himself, and his capsule broke when trying to enter the wall because it grazed its edge. "Rended like strips of flesh by dax blade", is just a simile. There were not actually dax there. The rest you got pretty well. The man in the wall is the twin he encountered in the void.

Damn! I completely missed the 'Like' part of his speech i somehow only heard Dax Blade and automatically assumed they were there!

    Again; yay :D 1Kay!
The beginning was a describtion of the Void portal, how it split light like a dax would slice through flesh,
The whole thing was just Albrechts experiment and experience with the void.
But your right, the artstyle was similar to the Sacrifice because both are explained and depicted by a vitruvian codex, which is like a Book and a Usb-stick.

Ohhh also the computer in the lab in the newest update is a good place to catch up with the story so far after you complete the quest nice little detail. And explains the new war paradox shenanigans a bit better.

2024 first time viewer here, the "severed digits" he talks about belong to the man in the wall.
when he wrote in his own blood on the floor "close it" his subordinate or his daughter closed the portal, his "Wall of Lohk(Void)" with some of the fingers of the man in the wall still sticking out, severing them. these fingers were studied with both greed and reverence by his fellow Archimedeans, scientists who served the Orokin but could also be Orokin themselves like A. Entrati.
it's still an argument if he only canonically lost one finger or multiple that day, because once he gains it/them back he can travel through time without having to weave a new Strand of Khra(Time), he does this by finding negative emotions in a person to latch onto, I think...
him or his "void copy",I guess... is currently gearing up to be the big bad of Warframe:1999 coming out winter this year
I assume it's his copy because dispite his status as a Orokin, dispite forgoing continuity for so long he still looks arguably "human" by Orokin standards. no blue skin or disproportionate features like a long right arm
