The art was amazing, and the whiplash made me flinch hard. This scene is so heartbreaking. You can see he could move forward, start enjoying life, maybe find enjoyment on this new path, but no. The past is always close behind.
Akane is a sweetheart. The first thing after the initial tragedy she thinks of is the repercussion of keeping the secret. The sheer loneliness of it. She knows sadness, she knows hurt, but loneliness is the real doom.
Genuinely feeling bad for aqua :( His gloomy personality got played off as a joke a few times before but it sucks he can’t allow himself to be happy about the connections he has to others because a part of him can’t forgive himself about what happened to Ai even tho there’s nothing he could’ve done realistically since even tho he used to be an adult he has the brain of a child at the time Also very sweet to see Abiko sense experience true joy while sharing the workload and cooperating with others
About the counselling thing, it’s really not a big thing in East Asia in general. Children who just lost their parents would obviously get some help from social workers and stuff, but after awhile and for adults they pretty much were expected to just suck it up, especially for guys. That’s why the suicide rates in Japan, in Korea and China were so high.

He's currently authoring a new manga alongside Oshi no Ko called Renai Daikou, and the characters literally explain psychological theories and shit. Essentially, Akasaka's a combination of two very scary character traits for an author to have: a psychologist and imo a bit of sadist (to his readers) lol. He even wanted Kaguya-sama to originally be just as dark as OnK but his editor went against it and that's why its a romcom instead.

That one frame of Ai is so proper for what it is, it wins the first place in being horrifying, and the author knows it as he uses it perfectly. The way it is messy makes it feel grounded to an unsettling degree, but the way the blood moves like flames? That's the picture of hell right there.
I can almost hear Aqua's AT field cracking down when Kana said that... Shutting down the traumatic experience isn't healthy, but sometimes it seems to be the only possible solution...
Aka plays it straight in that he makes it obvious that Kana is end game, just like Kaguya-sama he makes no plot twist on that side, but he does such a great job of giving importance and distinction to Akane's relationship with Aqua. A lot of the default "blue haired love rival loser" are left to shit but Akane does carry her own weight, even if I might dislike some decision or another on her side.
Same here actually. You know after reading the manga and recent chapters, I feel like Akane had more like a motherly love for Aqua instead of a romantic love. Am loving Akane in this arc for staying with Aqua And supporting him ( some of her actions were quite reckless )

In the original story, Ruby's vision is blocked by the emergency services and she is kept away from the scene. She cried and asked him what was going on. Akua was the only one standing next to the corpse, which caused the trauma → In the anime, the scene where Ruby was forced away by the emergency services because her vision was blocked was cut out.
Fun fact: At the end of the manga chapter from which this image comes from 14:09, there is a side-text that says: "They've become more than just a business couple".
The collaboration scene is great, I think, because it’s finally giving us what we’ve wanted since the initial clash between Abiko and GOA and the “telephone game” description, the direct cooperation between these two creators that clearly needed to happen. There’s been so much buildup to it, and it finally delivered, and it’s so satisfying… but it resolves in a way that throws us right into ANOTHER crisis, one focused right on our core cast of performers and _especially_ our protagonist. (Come to think of it, there’s another, much later scene in the manga that also follows the pattern of a much-awaited catharsis leading to an “uh-oh”, but that’s season 3 or 4 material. And it’s a very different kind of “uh-oh”.) Kana’s blunt appraisal of Aqua’s acting issues is more interesting when you consider what she said on the Sweet Today set, even before he went all-out for the proper shoot - she liked his acting, appreciated it, thought it had the feel of someone who’d put in a lot of hours honing his skills. And, of course, the performance in the actual episode was even better. Here, though, while she’s not taking back any of that, she’s saying it’s _not going to be enough_ for what this script requires. His “use whatever I can” approach has gotten him a long way, but now he needs to act from the heart. …And then, of course, she steps on that landmine when the stock “get the child actor to cry for the camera” prompt turns out to be the worst possible example to give Aqua. God, I’ve looked forward to seeing RUclipsrs react to that for _so_ long. I once made a spreadsheet for character appearances by manga chapter, and this was the longest Ai had gone without appearing - Aqua’s been so busy dealing with the demands of the play, actually living his life, that even though the whole reason he took this job was to investigate her history with Lala Lai, he hasn’t had time to think about her. And then his trauma slaps him in the face, almost literally. And, of course, the last big scene I was looking forward to people seeing - the girl who’s long been the closest to figuring out who the twins are finally closes the gap. This episode almost felt strange to me because it was the first time Aqua really lost control. He was devastated - but still in control - during Ai's murder, and he experienced some issues after Akane imitated Ai (which Kana helped him through), but he's never really showed any sign of weakness. Good episode, and enjoyed your reactions.
Akane is the smartest character in the series, smarter than even Aqua himself. There's no way Kana would be able to figure anything out, much less comfort Aqua the way Akane did.
But she wasn't acting like Ai. The stars in the eyes also imply someone’s talent, and it's not limited to Ai. For Akane, her talent is basically being highly deductive and piecing everything together, which helps her understand her acting roles. We even saw it in episode one, when she was trying to get into the character of Princess Saya. In this episode, when she was talking to Aqua, she didn't change her voice tone to Ai's cheerful or joking tone, but kept her soft and shy style, implying that she was still herself.

So while I don't think she was necessarily disingenuous, at the same time her comforting Aqua didn't feel completely sincere either because of that reason. It would have felt more emotional to me had Akane simply comforted Aqua normally and naturally, no acting involved.
