Look up ensalada de nopales. It's a really tasty salad that goes great with beans and tacos.
I remember watching a survival show taking place in Monterey one of the guys was like "damn we need to find food" and I as a Mexican was like "dude you have a shit ton of food around you!" looking at all the nopales around them.
I love cactus pear aka prickly pear aka tuna fruit. 😍😍 In peru there are different colors of the fruit. Yellow, dark pink, orangish and ive seen light green at a supermarket in the states. One of my favorite fruits and it has its own flavor it's nothing like bubble gum 😆
Cactus salad is one of my favorite, when I was a kid I used to go to a huge market in Mexico City, a lady used to sell cactus salad with fresh corn tortillas and queso fresco. Absolutely delish! 🌵
Don't forget the beans and chicharones
I haven’t noticed the fruit having a strong taste. A nice mild sweet taste. Very dense. Delicious. The pads are so tasty! Love them cooked any way. Never ate prickly pear until we moved to New Mexico. Lots of fun!
I’m from England and had no idea this fruit existed. ❤it sounds and looks amazing.
This cactus looks exactly like my wild aloe in my backyard
The only thing i can tell from the comment section is there really is no description of the flavor and a thousand descriptions, outstanding, that helps so much
Flavor varies from the color of the prickly pear. It can be a bit bitter or really sweet. Both flavors are extremely refreshing when cold.
quit ur bitching and try it yourself ... IF you actually care .
GOnNa cRy?
You know.. you have Google.
They vary even plant to plant. You just need to try them.
Nopales are the best... and the fruit is delicious 😋 They are so good for you..
I think they taste like green beans. My fence-line is full if the good kind. Not all are good to eat. These are smooth. If they are jagged looking around the edges, I'd avoid those
@@intractablemaskvpmGyyou are supposed to eat the new offshoots only after they get some size. I think you must be eating older parts by accident but once they grow full needles I wouldn’t eat them.
@@sergiokieri3137 I agree. But, I meant not all cactus are the same. I had two common types that look very similar but only one is good to eat.
I never knew you could eat a cactus until today lol. Thank you!
This fruits really tastes amazing, grew up eating this
