Ok, so, In book 2 (Don't know which episode) Aang, Sokka, Katara, and Toph are stuck in the desert without their way of transportation (Appa, Aangs sky bison). And then, the GAang get thirsty. So, Sokka thinking it was safe, finds a cactus and uses it as a way of hydration. And then, he acts like he took one of every drug ever produced. There it is.

You should put the whole inside of the prickly pear in the blender and blended it, the seeds won't break nor get damaged and they sink the the bottom of the juice.

Well you’ll have to go Southwest. I live in the Chihuahuan desert of Texas as well so it’s everywhere here. I also grew up in the Texas Hill Country which is pretty plentiful as well. I don’t bring the tunas in my house until the thorns are scorched off because they can get everywhere and the thorns are tiny which get all in your skin if not careful. We also make prickly pear margaritas, and martinis. Such a good way to quench your thirst in Texas!
This is a great video. When I was a kid I went to play golf with my dad. I was complaining about how hot it was and how thirsty I was. My dad walked over to some cactus and picked a couple of those prickly pears. I ate them and was shocked at how wonderful they tasted. That is what made me check out this video. I can't wait to try and make some juice this upcoming summer.

Just finally got a chance to make this. Tastes a bit like watermelon with pear overtones. Zero acid/tartness at all. Just kind of that melony sweetness to it. Very surprised by the flavor. Super refreshing. Definitely would be good with some Tequilla on a hot day.

ive noticed with fruits, taste varies depending on location and how much water theyve had. during a good monsoon season, they taste sweet and juicy, during times of drought, theyre somewhat dry and bland. also if fruits arent fully ripe yet, they not be as sweet.

The tunas in my area (California) aren't that color. They range from yellow to a peachy orange. I wonder if the flavor is the same?

@@BroockleI planted a "thornless" variety, but it seems to still have glochids. And the older it gets (I planted it about 6 years ago), the more thorns are appearing, so I guess its reverting. 😢

In morroco they come like that in green and orange/yellow nt of red while being orange/yellow theyr so juicy and delicious to think that it came from a cactus is just a miracle

Here in the middle east there are red, yellow, and orange prickly pears and they all taste quite similar. Definitely one of the best fruits you can put your hands on......
