- Mark meets Winslow, who has become the Dean of Mark’s college after being the principal of Mark’s high school, and he promises that he is going to work on his grades and his attendance. Winslow gives Mark a month to prove that he is prioritizing his life as a student over his duty as a superhero. Donald seemingly cancels his plans to quit the job after he realizes that he is turning into a complete android because that’s what he wants to do. He understands that Cecil isn’t manipulating him or anything. But I have my doubts because if he is part-android, then he is programmed on some level. So, can we say that he isn’t being puppeteered at all? Well, I guess we’ll never know. The focus shifts to the Grayson household, and Debbie’s coworker asks if she’d like to go on a date with him, and after some initial hesitation, Debbie accepts the proposal, which means that she is beginning to move on from Nolan. According to April (the nanny), Oliver is doing fine. The one who isn’t doing fine is Mark. The discussion boils down to the cold, hard, and unfortunate fact that it’s almost impossible for a human and a superhero to be a couple. At some point or another, the fault lines will become too huge to handle. Anissa leaves and tells Mark that if he doesn’t show up soon, she is going to wreak havoc. Mark hugs Amber and then shoots off into the skies to talk to Anissa. The shift in tone is brilliant and emphasizes that the threat of the Viltrumite invasion isn’t some distant reality. It’s right on the horizon, and ignoring it won’t solve anything.

After the previous discussions they had in season 2, he already saw Mark as an unpredictable and uncontrollable ticking bomb that could explode at any moment (and he was 100% right in acting that way, Mark himself said to Amber that sometimes he could not control his Viltrumite nature + we know that in most of the universes either he snapped at some point and took over Earth for himself or he sided with Viltrum)
Invincible's stubborness in this fight only proved to Cecil even further that Mark won't listen to when needed, that he is not reliable and that his temper could be a liability to Earth and its safety in the wrong scenario
They were lucky that it was the Viltrumites, and not another op enemy not restricted by numbers and forced to avoid hostile takeovers (especially against someone of their own), or that it was just Anissa and not someone "less diplomatic", otherwise Earth would have been just conquered the moment Mark said "No" one extra time

I was trying to figure out what Viltrimites remind me of.
They give off the same vibe as a Terminator.
Unfeeling machines that only operate on logic and make sure they accomplish their goal no matter what.
Every viltrimite we see has shown barely any emotion when they interact with someone or when they fight compared to Mark.
And I just learned something. Apparently Viltrimites are born without adrenal glands. So none of their strength gets an adrenaline boost the same way we humans get when our mental state reaches a heightened level.
Mark on the other hand HAS adrenal glands. And that makes him stronger than a Viltrimite. Unfortunately at his level that info is about as useless as a penny in a strip club.
I love how Mark never gets tired of getting his shit rocked, he really is….

I really doubt the show is going to do it. We can already tell that this show leads more to “the left side of things” and that arc was kinda pointless besides the trauma and his son, but his son never becomes super important. Also the dialogue from this moment compared to the comic is very different and far less sexual so makes me think they’ll keep it this way.

@rohitashmishra6761 what I meant was that he doesn't immediately kiss ass which makes his enemies respect him. I mean I know enough about Anissa to know that she doesn't respect Mark. But she shows respect here by not killing him. If he was just like "yes mam", she probably would have been disgusted by the weakness.
Insolence is not something Viltrumites respect.
Anissa didn't kill Mark only because her mission was to convince Mark to join them and Viltrumites are so few in numbers that they are unwilling to kill worthy members of their race if possible (e.g. see how they gave Nolan another extra chance even after he rebelled twice)
If she didn't have that order, or if it was someone less diplomatic or less disciplined than her, Mark would have just been slaughtered on the spot

Viltrumites get stronger the more they excercise. Nolan even told mark this in season 1. In the comic Cecil gives mark a training facility so that’s probably gonna be introduced in the season 2 finale.

I don’t know, getting disemboweled by an alien and slowly dying from that does seem like a deserved fate. You also got to keep in mind that rape is a pretty common thing in viltrumite culture as she mentions and isn’t treated with the same level as disgust as it is in our world. Not saying she wasn’t wrong for raping Mark, but she didn’t realize how serious it was until she became more human, then she realized how what she did to him was messed up

Evil is harming others for no one's benefit other than your own, Anissa knew what she was doing, what Mark felt and didn't care. Having pangs of guilt before dying relatively quiclly is not enough in my opinion, not even close

Like how Nolan changed, she along with other viltrumites changed their views over a short period of time and in turn realized how wrong they were because of their time of on earth. Their culture was built on eugenics and strength so feelings of anguish and emotions had to be pushed away because you were deemed weak if otherwise. Along with those beliefs of eugenics, rape was in play in order to breed with the best. so raping others became common and less serious and probably out of pride, the ones who got raped “shrugged it off” as to not look weak, making their offspring think it’s okay then creating a vicious cycle. But yes, they’re are awful people and they admitted that. Anissa even said she feared the woman she once was in one panel. Like I said, I’m not saying what she did wasn’t wrong, rape is a serious matter, but when you think of their culture, you can think her actions was just a byproduct of her culture and perhaps the reason Kirkman had that happen was to show how much more brutal and awful the viltrumites were in their efforts of purity, strength, and power, making it so much sweeter for them to change once they experienced love, something they never experienced before. Also, being disemboweled isn’t dying quickly. You die pretty slowly, bleeding out slowly with your guts out of your body. I say that’s a deserved fate

Probably wouldn’t have worked, Anissa acknowledged she was able to hear Cecil before this scene, which means she would’ve heard him tell Mark to stand down , making his acceptance disingenuous. Mark made the right choice to not submit. That in itself made her spare him.

thats like putting an elephant against a nuclear bomb, sure an elephant is strong but it cant do anything against a nuke. Dragon ball is a ridiculously strong verse, in the original dragon ball where goku was a kid there where already several characters capable of blowing up moons, fricking raditz would be tough fight for a large amount of the invincible verse. So putting mui goku against anyone here is way too overkill.

How does Mark suck so much? All he does is get his butt kicked by pretty much every villain he comes across and he never seems to learn how to be a better fighter or just avoid getting curb stomped.

He's fighting his own kind who are way stronger than him ( for now ) and way experienced , also if a Viltrumite doesn't engage in battles and doesn't push themselves then they don't stronger , that's why older Viltrumites are stronger because they have been fighting for a lot of time .
@mohakarora3375 he also gets his ass kicked by Earth opponents who he should be much stringer than. His literal only moved is to fly straight towards someone and try to punch them.
@@classicsmajor9699tell what Earth villains Beated him like this , the only one were Maulers ( basically a total of 12 of them ) ganged up on him and continuously punched him in the face and it only gave him bruises and then when the warehouse explosion happened all the Maulers were Melt besides one of them because he was able to take cover and Mark got up unscathed.
He nearly beat Thula and knocked Vidor away with a backfist. He’s clearly strong enough to take on above average Viltrumites, but Anissa is clearly much more. She may even be stronger than Nolan (she is confirmed to be faster at the very least).
