BAFTA winning Grand Designs is widely recognised as the pre-eminent series on modern architecture and design in Britain. Now in its 17th year, Grand Designs is one of Channel 4’s biggest returnable factual series and has grown into a global phenomenon, selling in over 100 territories. Apart from the TV series, the Grand Designs brand has also expanded to include books, a monthly magazine, architectural awards and a biannual exhibition, Grand Designs Live. - Развлечения
If I’ve learnt anything at all whilst watching GD it’s: double the estimated cost and time for your Grand Design.
“Good feng shui” said no-one in a caravan
There is only two people on this build not in La La Land , and thats Kevin and the digger driver 😂😂😂😂
I like their positivity
Kudos to the thatch roof installer, incredible
Thanks for these uploads of early episodes.
This is far and away the best reno of this series. I am in awe of that thatch!
there's probably a lot of bugs in it.
You both are an inspiration. A superb home built with love. Congratulations to Sue and Martin.
@Grand Designs It's been a year now - will you guys be uploading the next, third season?
A wonderful home. Would have loved to see it finished.
Cliff for President!
Bro I gotta watch this for construction homework 🤣🤣
Same lol 😂
Need waaayy more episode up in here
Thank you for the uploads! Very grateful!
Thanks for this upload.
Was great to see the re-visited episode of this last night, the house looked stunning a labour of love over the last 20+ years from the whole family.
Hello SODtv,
Would love to watch the re-visit. Can you share the link here?
It is in dailymotion: Grand Designs Season 23 Episode 11 | Devon Revisit
@@alpardagonenmis6765 Thank You
@@alpardagonenmis6765 Thanks so much!
Another gem to view 😉
We never get to see the end of the good ones...how about some revisits please Kevin..eg did the guy who was building his super sized mud brick house ever finish it? Or the hippy couple who were building theirs and their kids had grown up and probably moved out..or this one. Loved the light it was amazing!!! That was one amazing lady to live in the caravan with her little children and never complain..."we will miss this when we move..." Personally I love caravan living but without children fulltime. Most people cant wait to get out.
these early seasons did have followup episodes. you should be able to find them somewhere on the internet, I'm sure.
@@midnightkiteflight6333 thanks for that 👍🙂
fabulous house, plans or no plans.
The only thing I really don't understand: Why do all these people try to build vast buildings for a small number of people? Where are the kids? Don't know!
What happened Grand Designs? Why aren’t you continuing to upload season 2?
Ahhhhh yes. Metaphysics. One might as well value, respect and connect to the energy which manifests all matter, then not. The alternative is folly, that we've labeled reality. Good show, in bringing those fringe couples or should we say ... true romantics. 💕
Had to laugh forget the architect and have his wife design it through meditation. Love it. And I love that they are working with the old barn. Could they have used something other than cement? Isn't there a kind of concrete or some such that absorbs CO 2 rather than giving it off. Forget what it is called. I wish they had been able to finish the Castle in France . Love the earthiness of this.!!!
There was a concrete alternative. They said it cost too much.
Beautiful House
Where do I start with this one. I always find it interesting all these people that have such strong convictions on being green until it starts to affect their wallet. I would love to hear what electricians and plumbers would have to say when this guy calls them non specialist trades. I wonder what sort of state his electrical and plumbing wS in when the house was finished, if it ever was finished. I have met many English people like him in France. Grand ideas with no idea or skill or budget to support it.
Oh m8 it's finished, there was an episode, u wouldn't imagine
French pay rates are extortionate,
*And* the 'artisans' often incompetent!
Every Frenchman wants to be an instant millionaire, and see brits as dumb fools.
I had one fool ''artisan'' quote me 18,000 euros for a roof job, that I'd already costed at 6k max.and eventually cost 3k!
He had a big smile when he gave me his quote.
That vanished instantly when I said *NO!*
That's why brit peoples budgets are way out when the come to france.
.
the four of them are crazy
I love your show but I watch it on RUclips and the picture is not very clear , there’s a blurriness to it. Any chance that can be fixed to get a clearer picture?
check your settings on the You Tube channel but it depends on your internet link. With these old shows, you will be lucky to get 480P.
Wasn't a fresh followup e of revisit posted few days ago? And now it's nowhere to be found?
Twelve minutes in: We're meditating on how the interior of the home should look.
Fifteen minutes in: We don't have any building plans or blueprints drawn up to follow up and shockingly we found the floor is supposed to be 3 feet deeper.
Seventeen minutes in: Concrete is bad so we're putting crystals in it.
Well, this ought to be a wild ride!
I love how the writer doesn't think plumbing nor electrical isnt a specialized trade
Not really.
When I was in the RAF wireless trade, if you wanted to insult someone, you called them a plumber!
As for electrics, if you cant join two coloured wires correctly. you have a problem!
.
@niklar55 well hate to tell you but that's not an insult here in the USA, if not for us you would be drinking crap water or still crapping in a hole in the ground, sad to say in UK they don't respect the trades as they should
@niklar55 on top of that just because you seem to think plumbing isn't important, go live without it, it's taken advantage of 100% oh and we do fuel gas in usa also as a plumber don't have to have a separate license, so your ignorance is showing through thinking plumbers are not a specialized trade I have to get a license to plumb in every state I work in, get some education, maybe in your country plumbers have a crap position, but here in USA we build 100 million dollar homes and high rises
Not farm houses

I operated my own building and construction company in the UK for over 25 years.
ALL my work was from recommendation, I never had to advertise.
I did most of the work myself, ''from chimney pots to foundations.''
That's everything, plumbing, (gas, water, central heating, oil.). electrics, bricklaying, carpentry, tiling, roofing, welding, and wiped lead joints on electrics, and gas.etc. etc.
The bane of my life during that time was plumbers!
A lot of my work was fixing their complete f ups!
There isn't room here for me to list them all.
One job I found FOURTEEN redundant fittings between the floor and the end of a 2 foot pipe!
*I did not say that plumbing was unimportant.*
What I said was that plumbers had a reputation for being hamfisted R soles!
My 25 years experience proved that!
As for electrics', much the same.
Recently an ''electrical inspector'' wouldn't pass the electric in my sons house, because instead of ceiling roses, there were junction boxes, behind the skirting for easy access.
It was in effect, the standard system inverted. Too dumb to recognise it!
A gas plumber came to my house, and could not even use a Stillson wrench the right way around. He'd been working two years, for British Gas!
An electrician quoted $2000 (equivalent) to fix a ceiling light. It took my son 10 mins to locate the transformer, and replace it!
One customer told me he employed me, because he never needed to employ another tradesman.
During my 25 years I had zero callbacks.
I was asked if I guaranteed my work, and for how long. My answer, YES, and indefinitely! I had total confidence in my work.
I wish I could say the same for the rest of the R soles in the UK. There are similar problems in France, where I live now. Again, too long to list here!
I also did work for my cousins in Mass when I visited. Roofing, carpentry and gas. They never had a problem with my work.
I've also repaired and rebuilt car gearboxes and engines for a garage. Fixed and rebuilt fur coat ironing and cleaning machines.
I'm qualified to BSc, in engineering, and studied to MSc.
The pay for engineers in the UK was crap!
That's why I employed myself.
OK?
.

I don't respect the 'trades' for good reasons!
See below.
I saw this more than a decade ago ... and the predicted costs have me eyebrow to the ceiling ... under 300,000£ (around 470,000$ CAN) - in Canada now, 470,000$ would almost be a down payment on a small house in an old neighbourhood. Outstanding how inflation works.
I bought my house in Bulgaria five years ago for £5,000.
It’s great to see another upload but i’m surprised that the Upload quality is 360P considering we are living in a 4K world. It’s OK to watch 360P if you’re watching this on a mobile device but if you’re watching it like I am on my 4K Apple TV on my 4K 60” Samsung TV, the quality is extremely poor. Please upload in higher quality, minimum 1080P if possible.
you do realize this is a really old episode...
@@wahahabuh yeah it's filmed probably in the 90's
"but we live in a 4k world"
the stupidity never dies
it was shot in the early 2000s mate. SD non widescreen. probably on a Betacam with a line resolution of 640 max before Post.
no power tools...wow
It’s an eco build with a double garage and using Oak. Hey the concrete is only a problem if you have to look at it. Fawlty Towers, Rising Damp etc this is right up there with the best!
Hate concrete chops down green trees lol
What a weird couple 🙄
Cottage core
it appears the UK carpenters don't use many electric tools. That would add more labour and cost to the build. Choose a builder who uses modern equipment and save heaps of money.
I'm shocked that it took more time and money to build than they hoped - what happened? Maybe it will be finished by next Christmas. More meditation required.
"Eco" isn't real, it's just a feel good term as I'm sure most people that are actually in the production of anything will know. Good for marketing to hippies though.
Follow kris harbour. Hé gets pretty close to natural building
'Eco' is a strange word, agreed, but 'green' is real enough. Our home is insulated with blown-in cellulose, for example: recycled newsprint run through a hammer mills to make it fluffy. It's an excellent insulation and my wife and I have entirely abandoned fiberglass now. By the way, there are no hippies any more, and those that resemble hippies tend to be poor anyways. "Green' aficionados tend to be well educated and upper middle class.
Champagne ambitions, on Ginger Beer money!
They'd do better working rather than meditating!
.
I hope the wife isn't actually paying the spiritual housekeeper. What a bunch of nonsense.
I was watching this and started laughing half way through
No I think its great. In Buddism we do the same. Before start building your home, opening a restaurant or other business or doing something important in life you must choose the right day, and pray for good luck and positive energy. Its not nonsense.
this cant be official channel, 360p.... wtf
what do you think this was shot on? Probably a Sony camera and a separate Ampex one-inch U-matic video recorder! HD wasn't really available until a little later, around 2007 onwards. Nobody had flat-screen TVs back then, they hadn't been invented.
£275k 😭
70% of the uk cannot afford a house. 85% and working with debt. These folks spending on fancy struff are just as bad as the leech landlords making a income.
The Green Hysteria was already in place back then. ....amazing.
Why do you call it “hysteria”? This couple is able to build a home their way and they are not hysterical. Would love to see it finished.
Those kids are going to grow up as serial killers or work in the theatre or something. Poor kids
I cannot believe how lost these people are to the truth of whom they worship - To the Dragon, who is the beast, SATAN. That sort of Meditation is nothing but witchcraft. So sad, I pray the family will wake up and see the truth between God, the Creator who is the Great I AM, who has created the dragon/Satan to judge the world of sin. Chose this day, whom you serve.
On the other note, the home will turn out nice, once its finished.
OMG they are just talking about a mythical "being." Nothing real. Read a little bit about the middle ages and you will see how dragons were part of the folklore even at the Church´s most powerful era. You people see evil everywhere that must be so stressful, relax.
@@sergiocorreaasmar "YOU PEOPLE", That is stereotyping, and judgmental. As You say, You people who are awake to the truth, will the rest of you people who are a sleep and blinded from the Truth of God laws are perishing due to sin. As you stated: You people, yes, I am one who is a Christian, who loves and worship the One True Living God and proud of it. While you sir, serve the beast and proud of it. But remember there is hope for you. Repent of all sin, and ask Jesus to come into your live as your personal Savior and be baptized by the Holy Spirit, believe in your heart, that He died for our sins, and third day, He was raised from the dead and you are saved. It's not Religion, which came from the devil. It's a new way of life. Blessings.
OMG you are hilarious🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@donlynefullofpeace7054 read your comments and maybe you'll realize who is stereotyping and judging. You are saying people follow the devil without any evidence. As far as I know that is not your place. Do you think you are God? Or a prophet? Who gave you that authority?
You got it all wrong! Read your bible properly and don't give the Creator a bad name.
