I think the Gary story really highlights why EVERY Rolex AD needs to have EVERY model available for customers to try on. Even if they are only shell models that don’t have a functional movement. It is difficult to know how a watch will wear from pictures on the internet…and to wait for years to get one only to find out that you don’t love it in the metal is a shame.
Late to the party on this but I fish a bit here and there and know that it’s important to know the moon phase when fishing for certain species and choosing what lure you’re going to throw. That being said I don’t think I would ever go fishing with VC on my wrist.
That whole comment about money was so spot on. We ( as many people ) will justify that dinner or the new jacket or shoes or whatever smaller purchase, but when a big ticket item that they really want, and could get if they just didn’t spread their money out, could be achieved if they prioritized their spend. That’s really it. I like that I collected things when I was younger, but now, I’m moving all that along, because of space and clutter and I just don’t need all the stuff, and I want to prioritize my spend.
I probably was over 20 watches at my "worst".... from watches with crooked numbers to the left of the comma down to a Timex my daughter got me for birthday. I am now to the point that if I don't wear them, I feel like I should offload them. I can't just stare at a watch in a box or case, I have to wear it. This is why I change my watch 8 times a day when I'm home like some sort of weirdo lol. Great show as usual.
I did the exact same thing, getting slightly less popular option and having doubts. I got the DD40 Yellow, Silver Dial. And DD40 Everose, Green Dial. I'm thinking I should have got the gold on gold and the brown on rose. I love those combos.
I gotta disagree on the sizing of complete calendars. I have a 1948 Leonidas triple date moonphase in 35mm and it's not the easiest thing in the world to read. By comparison, I have an Eterna "1948" moonphase chrono in 40mm that is much easier to read even with the 2 chrono + sub seconds dials. Hands play a part in that but the size is important.
I dig that rose gold green dial. its a beauty. Gary be happy! if they had done the day and date in the same green with gold text that could have been pretty noice.
One use for moonphase is photography. A little niece i know but then again we are talking mechanical watches and then also mooonphase so i think its fair enough. An atrologer might also find it handy. Maybe a bit romanticised but the hole subjet is and thats where the fun is
Completely off topic. These Egard watch commercials crack me up. They pose the question, something like: 'how do you feel when you get an Egard watch?' I'm like, if I got one, I'd feel one of three things. 1. The person who got if for me isn't paying attention 2. The person who got it for me just doesn't like me. 3 I'm being pranked...
I'm nice to ADs as well, not as nice as Gary, but nice. Thing is though, I enjoy talking watches, I'm friendly, and I enjoy the hunt. So I go in person to ADs within a day's drive, talk watches, put in my request, check in once in awhile. I started doing this in May after my AD wasn't getting me anything. I had three Rolex I wanted, and this weekend, I'll pick up the third one. Picked up my first Rolex ever in July, my second one last month. I never bought a thing from either AD that has come through for me before these pieces. Being genuine and nice can work. Admittedly, I've been very lucky, and I get that.
Is moon phase really useful at work? Because everyone buying submariners is working at the bottom of the ocean, right? I doubt 1/4 of dive watch owners have ever been in scuba gear for any reason.
To each their own but, if anything it makes it better IMO as it’s the Watchmaker’s 4. Used mostly for watches/clocks specifically. Also the original way 4 was written. It came before the IV that we know today.
I often go without to get what I think I need at the time (or what I really really need) Gotta make it go around. Spread it… Love you shtick guys. You rock it. On ya Gaz nice watch, you especially nice person you…
Moonphase? I have an Omega Speedmaster moonphase. I think it is mesmerizing to look at the moon (esp. the full moon) and even at Omegas moon that is very photo realistic. What I think is unnecessary is a month display, who doesn’t know what month it is. And even a perpetual calendar is unnecessary, it is not a problem to set the date five times a year.
Hey Gents, could you please let us know what you think of the new relaunch of the EBEL SPORTS CLASSIC in your next video? Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
Never used to be a huge fan of gold but there is some about a gold Rolex... CZ was in a rush somewhere.....maybe to his AD to get on a list before EVERYONE steals Gary's idea!
I don't understand why people love rose over yellow. Pictures online make rose look better than the color actually on the wrist. On the wrist though..... Yellow all the way
I've had a Sub and GMT from an AD with no previous purchase history... We're roughly the same age, I'd go in talk "soccer" every week or two, eventually started playing fantasy football together and then got the watches ;)
The chase is always cool, then you are underwhelmed as you achieve your goal. Then you put your watch way, then you wear it again after a month. Then you realise why you bought it and you get sense of warmth all over. Time always reminds you why you wanted the watch in the first place.
Moonphase watches are useful for the people who still track time by the lunar (or lunisolar) calendar such as Jews, Muslims, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Hindu, and Thai to name a few.
I feel like im too pale for a yellow gold day date although I love the idea of being able to pull it off. Maybe if I move to a hotter climate and get a tan xD
I'm Chinese and use the moon phase to track the lunar calendar. There are days on the lunar calendar that marks good/bad luck to do certain stuff so a moon pahse is kinda handy 🌚🌝
You guys are way too young to judge the matrix, it's obviously aged, but it was a blast when it was released. Only talking about the OG Matrix of course, the sequels were rubbish :) nice vid!
Gary’s genius idea: Being someone in New York who’s actually nice to people 😂 genius Gary, genius I say!!

Movement has weight to it
I want that green jacket Christian wearing low-key
Late to the party on this but I fish a bit here and there and know that it’s important to know the moon phase when fishing for certain species and choosing what lure you’re going to throw. That being said I don’t think I would ever go fishing with VC on my wrist.
Where did Christian get the olive shirt jacket though? It's a look 👌
Appreciate the boom watchfam at the beginning. Nice touch
For me the “want” is always more fun than the “have” but that’s what makes the experience exciting and makes you keep coming back for more.
I agree

Christian, what size is your wrist? I have a 6.25 wrist and love my 36mm DJ, but was wondering if I might go up to 40 for a DD...?
I probably was over 20 watches at my "worst".... from watches with crooked numbers to the left of the comma down to a Timex my daughter got me for birthday. That rose gold day date is gor-geous.
I have to agree its one of the most beautiful Rolex watches.
I love the moonphase complication… I part of my life actually depends on the lunar calendar, the novelty for me has an added layer of real relevance
Anyone got an ID on the jacket Christian is wearing in the vid?
I did the exact same thing, getting slightly less popular option and having doubts.

If money is excluded, want yellow gold, Patek Calatrava. FWIW, wearing a Nomos Club Automatic Date with a blue dial. Love the watch.
The Gary Story: I laughed, I cried, it was better than CATS. I'd listen to that story again and again.
I gotta disagree on the sizing of complete calendars. I have a 1948 Leonidas triple date moonphase in 35mm and it's not the easiest thing in the world to read. yellow buttons and matching glasses - and a yap that registers as noise pollution
Moonphase complication is beautiful. That's it's use.
13 months ago a rose gold DD with the green dial was sitting in the case at my local AD. Still kicking myself for not picking it up.
Both of those jackets are super nice. Who makes them?
Ooh oooohhhh. Love ❤️ is in the air. Keep it coming guyz. 💕 to see you guys together.
Yellow is classic! Love my 228238 yellow white romans - was offered green dial back in 2019 but never appealed to me.
Turned down a rose olive day date a couple years ago during the peak from ad. Went with yg dd40 with black dial. No regrets. Rose is hype
You guys are killing it!
I dig that rose gold green dial. its a beauty. Gary be happy! if they had done the day and date in the same green with gold text that could have been pretty noice.
Chrisitan, what jacket is that? it looks nasty!
Great banter guys!! Keep it up…
Seriously, what is that Jacket and where do I get it?
I would use the moon phase function everyday if I had a moon phase watch. I want the ones with the 29 1/2 day calendar instead as it's easier to read.
Just picked up my first Swiss Timepiece
1981 Tudor prince oysterdate absolutely mint condition !
great discussion as always...(and nice ending)
Great concept! Can’t wait to see more
John Green did a really cool video on John Wick's death question. Worth checking out
One use for moonphase is photography. A little niece i know but then again we are talking mechanical watches and then also mooonphase so i think its fair enough. An atrologer might also find it handy. Maybe a bit romanticised but the hole subjet is and thats where the fun is
Micheal is a great addition to the channel

It was nice to meet you two at the GS9 event. Hopefully GS will have y’all take more of their photos/videos.
Christian, love that coat. And Michael, I already knew Christian got you that, I watched your video. ;-)
Hello! And I’m Christian, sporting the 70s Tom Selleck throwback mustache!
Outfits this episode...fire!!
Yellow Gold, Roman numerals, white dial, 40mm is incredible
Cool story. Be great to see an updated state of the collection vid.
That intro beat tho 🎶
That rose gold is superb 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽 I’d keep it.

Moon phase might be great for werewolf endeavors 🐺
That R .L. polo sweater is beautiful
by the way moonfase is important when hunting at night for certain species
Anyone knows what jacket Christian wears? Love the green shade, great video anyways!
I love the rose good olive dial DD, but man having “IIII” as the Roman numeral for 4 really drives me up the wall
I really just looked up the Roman numeral because I thought i was wrong. Almost lost me mind.
It’s the watchmaker’s 4, classic!
To each their own but, if anything it makes it better IMO as it’s the Watchmaker’s 4. Used mostly for watches/clocks specifically. Also the original way 4 was written. It came before the IV that we know today.

You guys are getting better and better, the perfect antidote for all the pretentious guff and nonsense in watchworld....MOAR.
Hey Gents, could you please let us know what you think of the new relaunch of the EBEL SPORTS CLASSIC in your next video? Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
I have pagani designs...i need this😎⌚️✌️
There are two kind of collectors:
The ones that want a very specific Rolex and then there are the ones that want to be happy and enjoy the hobby 😄
Yellow all the way
i like the jacket Christian, whats the made?:)
WCJ is going to have a field day with Gary
I've had a Sub and GMT from an AD with no previous purchase history... We're roughly the same age, I'd go in talk "soccer" every week or two, eventually started playing fantasy football together and then got the watches ;)
Guys I do like the Roast! Fun to bust on friends. BTW, the white on the Carolina Blue doesn’t work, change the text to Black. Cheers, Jock
Nice pajamas on the left Michael!
The chase is always cool, then you are underwhelmed as you achieve your goal.

Time always reminds you why you wanted the watch in the first place.
I live in Staten Island and I’m very hurt.
Only Keanu Reeves could score that many brand new submariners.
You lucky fuck!!! GARY!!!!!!!!!! lol that's amazing!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥 all the props to you 👏👏👏👏
Moonphase watches are useful for the people who still track time by the lunar (or lunisolar) calendar such as Jews, Muslims, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Hindu, and Thai to name a few.
Fishermen, would maybe use the moonphase....
great cardigan Michael. \m/
I feel like im too pale for a yellow gold day date although I love the idea of being able to pull it off. Maybe if I move to a hotter climate and get a tan xD
Waiting for 'The Iron Snail' Merch 😃
To be honest... I check my moonphase several times a day and night. I know exactly when it's full moon. Also keep my Viagra close.
Fyi city boys … Hunters and fishermen use the phases of the moon. However I have never seen a hunter with a Patek moon phase. 😂😂😂😳
Werewolves need that moon phase 🤷♂️
It doesn't even look to "rose-goldey", I like it.
Also, I'd submit my collection for a proper roast lol.
love the 'stash
They are hammered again.
Man what glasses is he wearing I need them
Moon phase is nice for fishermen or gardeners, in saying that…..
I love my Rolex HULK homage by Steinhart.
How did he get 5 submariners at retail????
Highest intro ever 💨🥔✈ 🪨 😆
Tell Gary I will buy it off of him. Name the price!!!
Wow reeves is a stand up guy
Moon phase can be actually useful if you're Muslim or Jewish for example, as those calendars are lunar based.
Lunatics need moon phase watches!!
…” I sell them..” 😂😎
I'm Chinese and use the moon phase to track the lunar calendar. There are days on the lunar calendar that marks good/bad luck to do certain stuff so a moon pahse is kinda handy 🌚🌝
So you have a hulk with a green dial and bezel …. And you want a two watch collection so you want ANOTHER green dial watch?
This watch used to be in all the Connecticut ADs in early 2020 now you can sell it for 70k 😵💫
Can’t get a Sub? Blame Keanu or go to work for him…
You guys are way too young to judge the matrix, it's obviously aged, but it was a blast when it was released. Only talking about the OG Matrix of course, the sequels were rubbish :) nice vid!
Isn’t arguing about the usefulness of a given complication on the flipping wrist watch kinda ironic?
He can get 5 subs from a AD at once and everybody else is on a 3 year waitlist just for one. And that’s if they’re allowed on the list.
Well moon phase data is not useless if you are in the wine 🍷 industry 🤭🤭
That was a roast of Rolex
You want a moonphase to tell, and show everyone who believes people act more crazy\aggressive when the moon is full, that they're wrong.
