Found this after I nearly screwed up our wall. This is, without a doubt, the most complete and honest faux sued instruction video. Thanks.

I am an artist and have worked with the Ralph Lauren suede paint. I was surprised that you rolled on the first coat! I have only done two layers of the suede both hand brushed, as well as only using the one color. A good video for those who have never done it before but you could keep it simple by just using the same color. Still gives a great effect.

Thank you for the video. I haven't done this technique in 20 years. I watched a half dozen other videos knowing right away they didn't know what they were talking about. Lol
I'm doing an 800 square foot ceiling in the kitchen first thing tomorrow morning. Thank you

Awesome! And so ironic. Took on the task of painting my new home this week to find out that 'I am NOT real good at it.' BUT the color that I used is the same color you have here and I will be going to get me some brushed suede in the morning! Thank Dear. And WHEN you said that the 1st coat does not have to perfect I said Thank You Jesus. I think you just saved reputation to my husband that wasn't so sure I could handle the painting!! After yesterday I started to believe it myself. Gr8 video!!

Thanks for an EXCELLENT video. Beautiful job! I love the brushed suede look and have wanted to do it in a room for years but didn't know how to do the edges and corners. Like you so accurately pointed out in your video, everyone else does the middle of the wall. No one shows you how to do the edges and corners...until now. THANKS!! I'm definitely passing this video on.

We're doing a smooth metalic faux finish (Sherwin/Will) this week. I like your texture better than the one requested - no place to hide anything with the smooth and I'm not sure how we can fix anything out in the middle. I picked up the micro fiber rollers for it and we've been practicing our random technique with the primer - (ha)

Thanks for the knowledge! I'm a drywall master and for the last year I've been asked about painting so heck I picked up a painter (Danny) whose one of the best painters I've seen. This is a great video and will help me in starting my project. One question is, Im using the Valspar Brushed Suede and it instructs you to use the same paint as the base coat but I saw you used a different color. Was this a flat, eggshell, satin finish? And should I use a different paint for base or use the Brused Suede?

I have a wall in the living room that's 6' X 12'. The wall is painted with Ralph Lauren River Rock the color Dry Bed. The effect is too flat for us. This wall is the focal point of the living room, it lacks character. Our walls have a Med. Knock Down texture. Can a brushed suede pattern be applied to a textured wall such as ours? My wife really likes the Polished Patina (R.L.) effect. I've watched the R.L. video of how to apply the Polished Patina and it's done with a plastic spatula. Can this be done on our textured wall? If not, can the polished Patina topcoat be used on top of the River Rock to get that polished look but applied with the suede method?

Hi, We were wondering since our wall has already painted in suede finish. Can we change our existing wall from the flat surface into a eggshell surface ? We do not care for the flat surface. It's not easy to clean the wall . Would this still give us a suede pattern looks ? Also, in your video you did not mention is this necessary to do primer the wall first, before paint the 1st suede coat ?
Thank you in advance. By the way, very much like your video .

diamondkeith1, would you please post a video explaining how to do the belagio faux from start. Do I have to use a sponge with that? Also, do I have to mix the slurry belagio paint with a joint compound.
I sponged it like that "slurry" the way it comes from the gallon and I don't think I'm fully satisfied.
Please give me some advice on how to use the belagio faux. Either you or anyone PLEASE....

The paint company does not suggest painting the wall with a first coat of just regular paint but 2 coats of the suede paint. This wiould save me from paying another $50 since I have a large area. Question: The suede paint has granules in it, so I'm wondering if using regular paint as the first coat is going to look LESS like suede . So before I go out and buy a base coat of a similar color, Please advise

I can’t see any of the detail. It just looks like a regular brown painted wall.😢… maybe I’ll put this on a bigger screen, but I’m trying to figure out what technique to use if I use a regular paint if it is show something like a lime wash

I loved your video. I am kicking myself that I didn't see it BEFORE I messed up my walls. We painted the walls with the dark brown suede as though it was regular paint. I have to admit that it is HORRIBLE. My questions are, how tho fix the wall and can you use a completely different color on top of the first coat to get a different finish? I was thinking about a greyish purple or green. How the heck can I fix the worst paint job that you have ever seen. The brush strokes are terrible and there are major paint thicknesses with straight lines in the corners etc. (BTW, my boyfriend did the walls) !!! I am actually painting today 10/14/14. I hope that you answer these comments in real time!!!

It is my understanding that most professionals don't backroll, at least it isn't generally done unless it's on a new wall. Can you explain what the advantage is to backrolling esp. in this scenario? Because it doesn't seem like, to me, that it would have any real benefit and would just make it take longer.
Here's a video by another professional painter I like to watch for pointers, etc, and his take on backrolling. ruclips.net/video/A5Lcyla2Lb4/видео.html
