I took some classes at Ron’s shop. That may have proved to be the third best decision of my life. I was able to evolve my painting business into something that I like and absolutely enjoy. I’m not near the master that Ron is but he certainly knows how to give his students the best tools for success. Thanks Ron

Great video! Love the look of this faux paint. I would love to do an accent wall in my house of this exact color. Could you please tell me the exact water based/ acrylic glaze you used and the darker brown color also? Thank you :)
If I want to do this style on a wall, but want some darker areas left.. Is it a matter of allowing that to sit just a bit longer and blend with other areas?

I'm stARTing a new Faux Finishing business here in Delaware, OH ( just north of Columbus about 1/2 hr or so ) that I'm calling " Faux d' Elegance " & I'm doing some faux finishes in my APARTMENT - ( YA ! LOL ! It's pretty off the hook ! ) . Watching this video just inspired me to try this in a way that I can actually remove later if / when I move out & have to return everything to their BORING / SANITIZED white. If I put the tissue paper on Pink foam board insulation & screw it to the wall & edge it with a cheap, but nice chair rail molding - I can remove it later & take it with me to my next location & nobody need worry about the permanence of what I've done & * I * get to enjoy an elegant home decor that would otherwise be strictly forbidden ! VIVA L' ELEGANCE !

Mr. Layman, I have watched all of you videos, and I really enjoy them. However, I have not seen to do an example of faux multi color slate. Could you do one? slate comes in so many beautiful colors and combinations, and is a material widely used in home decor. Thank you so much for the tutorials.

I'm painting the master bedroom with the textured walls. I wanted to do the leather look with glaze, but I am using a flat paint. Will it be okay to use glaze over that??
Hi Ron! Thanks so much for this video. It's exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I'm turning a particle board entertainment center into something that looks more like a black steamer trunk. Do you have any recommendations for a good paint and glaze combo?

Good clear instructions. Im wondering if I can use the granite chalk paint I already have? I realize the wax application would need to be some what light as to not tear the new "leather" or would I get a more genuine finish with regular paint with a mat finish?
You can use any color or just abut any paint, wax will work just fine. I've often waxed this finish for a different look and the wax creates a soft luster that polyurethane can produce.
If I used a gold color with the tissue, do you think it would look more of a tuscany look, opposed to leather? I am looking to create a textured finish, opposed to just the look you did with just glaze.
Is the finished surface flat enough to use for a kitchen counter top? How many layers of clear polymer finish do you advise for such a use? Thank you Susan
If you want it smooth it would take as many coats as you like until it's smooth. I'll post a video this week showing a similar look with no texture that will work better for a counter top.

Please, someone, anyone. Please tell me the brand and name of the glaze used and where I can find it. I want to do this to my walls but it doesn't help when you can find the antique glaze and how to mix it to make it work. Thank you to anyone in advance.

I have a wall that started.. Painted first coat now need to finish with final color and glaze.. What is the ratio glaze to paint for final coat?
Did you read the instructions on the can? Every manufacturer is slightly different, go with the instructions

It will help mask imperfections, just feather sand the edges of the repairs and sand repairs lightly.

Hi,sure as long as you prime the plastic with a good primer, I would use a shellac based prime BIN from the Zinnsser corp is good

I usually go 4 -5 shades darker then the base color
