I've been storing things for my kids forever. Thanks for pointing that out. One kid said, "I'm the only one with no stuff there...." and I said it's in the cabin. She had forgotten. So true.

I really like your comments about storage being a transitory place and not a permanent home. A bit of a wake up call for me!

2 or more times a year I start and clean closets from the inside. when tidying up, i often switch places and reorganize my storage space. usually less goes back into the closet than came out. in the meantime, for example, there are 2 empty cupboards in my kitchen and i removed one and put my washing machine in its place. That saves me time because I don't have to go down to the basement every time to do the laundry. only downside: my husband often can't find things and has to ask me where it is.....
    😅

Hi Elin. So happy to see your subscriber numbers edging up, month by month. Soon you will hit 100,000. Well done you! Your videos are lovely and your output is so consistent which cannot have been easy at times with the health problems you've experienced. Keep going, girl: you're doing great!

Biggest storage battle for me is holiday decor. Been a few years since putting any up and really considering donating.

Downsizing to a much smaller home and a new state where attics are not common or very small and no basements has really simplified my life.

I don't keep anything in storage. I have only one container for Christmas decorations. I gave up all nick nocks and furniture. I keep years everything now easy to clean my home and I have time for myself, more than before.❤

I love the closing comment about using our storage space to improve our quality of life. My storage areas have been neglected and have become those "black holes" that create stress. I have spent the last several weeks purging my home of extras, clutter, rarely used things, and especially of sentimental things that no longer connect me with my parents and family. Your videos have inspired and encouraged me to git r done.

At 4:56, you look absolutely adorable in your hat. It made me grin, so I thought that I should tell you.
I'm a hat girl, especially now that we live in Australia and I've had a few skin scares. My favourite hat is my Linen Tilley hat from Canada.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and ideas on minimalism and decluttering the excess in our lives. I also really appreciate how you share your health issues so vulnerably and how you work around them to keep your home and life based on what is essential and important to you.

Wow, I never associated storage with shame - perhaps it is a cultural thing? I think many people in my country think it is very normal to store things away for future use, maybe even in the next generation (e.g. I received many childrens' clothes and toys from family members and things have been in the family for generations and get used again and again - although of course with some 'non-usage times' in between...

I also enjoyed seeing your home. It is beautiful. Please know there are so many that love your content, and appreciate you.

Thank you I found this to be very helpful. There is one thought about storing things for other people. Some times you need to say no to storing things for others. I did this because I am working on decluttering items from my home and items from an estate.

Love the advice. I also find that sometimes just adding additional storage design elements like nice stew in hooks, change up the shelving so it’s more functional can also make all the difference along with decluttering. Food pantries are also intimidating and I struggle with that

Really practical tips thank you. Labelling is a good one & yes a well lit & clean, even easily accessed storage area is important. We have (my husband & I) in the last year expanded the flooring in our attic (UK) and extended the lighting. This has all made a massive difference. Capitalising on the space. Thank you for the content, I am binge watching as I have only recently discovered your chanel. Liking your chanel. ❤ Well done. May the Lord Bless. x

This was a very interesting video. Not too many have addressed this topic/ area before. I never realized how true it is that it really is quite a ‘shameful’ / taboo kind of topic/ area. I’m glad you opened up this ‘conversation’ and addressed this head on.

I grab my broken laundry basket for donations and a trash bag when I declutter 😊 When I'm on the fence, I place it in a box with "today's date". It keeps me aware of unused items and let it go 🥰

Haha, I clicked this video thinking it would be about storage solutions like for organizing. I desperately need help in that dept.. we're renovating our house, which is plenty big, but have zero closets and hardly anywhere to put things. I mean regular things like books and bathroom supplies.

So sorry, storage is a problem for you. I have both an attic and a storage room in my basement. Without labeling, I know exactly what is there and when needed, it is retrieved in good condition and used. One such item was a bed spread that had been in storage for almost 40 years. I also use the storage space to collect items to be sold at the next yard sale. Easy to bring down price and sale. Hope you find peace with your storage space. My heart aches for you.
