Reducing words in your home is a huge thing! We recently moved and have nothing on the walls yet, and I personally love it. While I do want to add in some wall decor, I am embracing the calmness that I have now with blank walls.

Yes! I'm a painter and had colorful paintings filling the walls. After going through a total burnout and my nerves being incredibly sensitive, I was noticing I felt more disturbed and anxious in the room that contained all these paintings. I took them all down, have blank walls in there now, and am so much calmer. It's amazing how impacted we are from STUFF.

Oh I so agree with Elin about the words on the wall. I feel exactly the same about them.

I just came accross your video. Thank you for presenting such good information in a very calming, concise and positive way. And a hugh "Thank you" for not talking way to fast and for not throwing in a lot of non-essential rhetoric. I did subscribe and I'll be back! You truly are a "slice of light!" 😊

I got a metal document holder from homegoods and I got hanging file folders to go in it and it’s perfect for my important documents!! And the metal holder looks so neat and chic!!! And the hanging file folders are pastel and the whole thing just looks so chic and looks good enough to keep on my shelving unit!!

These are great tips! I like the idea of putting electronics out of sight completely when not in use. I'm going to implement that asap. My main issue that creates visual clutter is my night stand. It's just always a disaster haha but this was a great video thank you

I love to build things. My house reflects that. When I lived in a 100 year old Victorian house, the table saw was in the front parlor. The dining room had the work bench and the wood pile. Both laundry washing machines were in the butler's pantry.
(Two machines are faster than one.) The drafting table and computer were set up in the drawing room with the library. While I was living there it was all about building the pipe organ. Today I have a beautiful automatic carousel organ which I take to music festivals and public events. I would never have been able to achieve that had I been forced to make my home look like it came from a life style magazine. Love ya dear but if we had to share the same house, we would drive each other nuts.

I love my white walls then my plants become the color and art. I eventually want to get rid of my tv and maybe just have a projector but for now I got some white electrical tape and put it around the harsh black frame of my tv and it looks much better.

Your whites and creams are soothing, and fit your vibe. Definitely not my style, though. I have reduced the number of things on display, and color and pattern play are important for me.

Same, I would go crazy in a colorless environment. I don't find it calming, it's just nothingness.

I've realized I'm clutterblind. I've never heard that word before but that's me. Until suddenly one day I see everything, maybe if someone's coming, and I feel I'm seeing my home through the eyes of the other person.

Great tips. Most minimalist house decor is cream, white, beige, which I love, but don't bode well with larger dogs, dogs that shed or dogs that like to play outdoors. Any minimalist tricks to have the light colored furniture or rigs that cohesively exist with dogs? I don't like the idea of covering up my furniture, what's the point of the lighter comforters, etc?

Couldn't agree more about the word signs. Pretty sure they contributed to my son's break-up with his girlfriend. What man wants to be confronted with "Home is where the heart is" ; "let the evening be gin" on some shabby-chic piece of driftwood imported from China? ? Grrrr.....

These are great ideas for our space.
Have you ever considered also creating a minimalist space pdf for these ideas?
It would be nice to also have them on paper or in our phones to mentally check through.
I prefer your videos any day over just pdf.
But, if you ever created both. I’d download the pdf while listening.
And keep it in our home folder.
I’m with you on most word sayings. The only word saying type of paper I have on our wall is a phrase about being present and being instead of perfection.
It’s a good reminder for my whole family.
