Each time I listen to this evergreen, it is a nostalgic and sweet trip to the Nigeria of 70s when the country was peaceful and good and life was meaningful like the music of that time......like this!!! Many thanks to this legend.
This album was the first Sunny Ade music that made me bacome King Sunny Ade's passionate fan. I was in my mid teen age and it was in the mid 70s I think.
Listening to this masterpiece and reliving my youth in Itire, Surulere. Surrounded by love. A doting mum, friends from all parts of Nigeria. Kids loving life and getting into one mischief after the other. Grateful to the Almighty to have had such a life and the gift of this kind of music.
Nostalgic! I can still remember Dr. Sheinde running into trouble with the Nigerian Medical Association because of this record with Sunny Ade singing that anyone that goes to his clinic would receive immediate cure and relief. This was taken as an 'advertisement' on his behalf as doctors were not allowed to advertise. Can't now remember if he went to court to resolve the matter.
To those still in the dark about the history of Lagos lsland, KSA laid it bare with the special praise for Oshodi family. Listen to it and learn who stake claim to Ereko, Lafiaji and Epetedo. Long Live the King!
Thank Thee ALMIGHTY GOD For His Everlasting Mercies upon us, listening to this evergreen music at this period year 2024, I remember rocking with the beautiful song in the 70s Thank You LORD !
Sunny you are great and you shall be forever great. Using your music to turn the lives of people around for good is a divine. God will reward you with gifts of eternal values.
This takes you back memory lane, ever green, and Dr. sehindemi was a family friend, his clinic then was at tokunbo street on the island; AMESO clinic, it was. now adays music are just rackets, this is real music, with quality sound.
The last time I saw him was when he was made the health commissioner in lagos state. I have since left the country, I saw his third child in London once and that's all. .
Music is an Art, the Bass and Rhythm guitar are superbly blended, throw in the percussion and the conga drums and SHEKERE at the background. This Album is truly evergreen and sensational because of the history behind some of its lead character and the uproar back then in the Nigeria Medical Association. thanks for uploading. RIP JIM REX LAWSON.
Original juju music like this is scarce today despite all the digital it is noise the youth of today are making let the youth of today go and learn from the original music producers like King Sunny Ade King of music in Nigeria ever known
May you reign long KSA, I was in primary school when this record was released and my dad used to play it everyday asking us to be dancing to it. That's how I became addicted to music of KSA.
King Sunny Ade, may you live long in Jesus name. Baba, please upload the LP made for Ladejola Oginni and Egbe Awa wa. you released it at the same time with late IK Dairo. for the same person.
Many thanks for this post. As I was listening to this music, I noticed the sleeve of one of KSA's greatest LIVE hits 'LIVE PLAY', where he sangpraise Chief Olaniyan Alawode. It contains other hit tracks such as the original 'Sunny ti de ariya', 'ibere afe aye', agbada nla ti mo da', etc. I am just wondering if you have the album, please help us KSA's 'disciples' to listen to it. Thanks
It is even more strange that you only heard this song months ago because it is one of his hit records, having been waxed while he was in London for the first time with his band in the early 70s. I was in Primary School then and most people in my village (near Ile-Ife) who had the means bought the vinyl record. You will also like side B of the record on this link: ruclips.net/video/nUwyQmx1POI/видео.html

So what became of him, unfortunately google doesn’t quite work well with Nigerian celebs of yesteryears
The last time I saw him was when he was made the health commissioner in lagos state. I have since left the country, I saw his third child in London once and that's all. .
Music is an art; Art is an idea, idea is what is in you. It tells what KSA was then and reminds me who I was then.
Young musicians should learn from the legends and produce what show prophecy and meaning of music. Live on the memory of yesteryears

Loved it. Strange that it's my first time hearing this song by KSA, considering I've known his music since the 1970s. When was it released?
