  • It’s green, it’s cool, it’s… surprisingly small! Here are my first impressions of the car we’ll be driving for the next month or so from Onto, the car subscription company. I haven’t driven it yet, but I’ll do another video when I do, plus a full review. And I’ll get my wife’s thoughts of course.
You may be thinking “what about the Tesla you had, Andrew?!” - videos coming soonish about that!

The shark symbol was first shown in the glove box hinge of the corsa around 2004 , a sneaky designer popped it in a plastic moulding , and it stayed , looks like "they" are still working at Vauxhall ( aka stalantis )

Love your reviews Andrew. I had the Mokka for a few days, so much smaller inside than the outside design implies. Range is not great and being lower than it look a head banger when getting in and out of the drivers seat. It's a 2 plus 2 for sure.

I test drove one last year, I loved the look and the green but wasn't impressed with the way it drove. Not alot of range also put me off. The inside was claustrophobic. Then I drove the E-niro and it was so much better in everyway.
I bought the E-Niro, had it a year now and I still love it. Good luck with Flaviana and that Mokka, can't wait to hear her views ! 👏

I had my 11 and 14 yr old glancing at BEV builders here ie VW, Kia, Hyundai, BMW, Audi... and the basic comment was, why do the car coimpanies hate colour? We saw 8 different greys, three or four whites, 3 different blacks, several dull blues cough cough Hyundai & VW... The Kia EV6 Yacht Blue and BMW's Portimao Blue got the thumbs up. Keeping the girls happy!!

Night 2 vampire drained down to say 49% set the start time for 0030 and increase the limit to 80-100%. Voila off peak charged. At 7kw with a 55kwh battery 1 hour at 30 amps = 11% approx

I ordered vauxhall mokka e, in blue back on the 10th Feb, 8 months ago and have been informed its still 3 - 6 months before it will be delivered. The car companies and governments, are pushing the world's population, to go green and they are unable to supply these electric cars. I am trying to transition, but I honestly wish I bought an ice car because this is just stupid. I paid a £15k deposit, which will be sitting in Bristol Street motors bank for over a year before I get my new car. They need to sort out their poor supply issues because this will turn the public against buying an ev.

The reality is a short range, lengthy times to fill up, more expense to buy, cost similar to fill up at home as an ICE car, way more to fill up from a public charger and appalling towing range.
For me an EV won't work but I appreciate people looking for a local runaround may find a small benefit.
Four hours cheap charge on a 7.5KW charger is going to give only a really small range though.

No point complaining about the size, its a small car just over I think 4.1 metres in length. I think pretty good as a town car with the range and maybe ok for a couple of bigger trips in a year, I'd struggle with it as a main family car though. We had a look at this on motability for my wife - for some odd reason the sill was a bit wide and wasn't easy to get in for her, we settled for a Kona which is still on order and hopefully due this year! I actually like small cars, so much better for buzzing round town and parking 🙂

Regarding squeezing in the car’s charge within 4hrs cheap rate, just set the car to your chosen maximum charge, to get you through the day. It’ll either reach it or not on the cheap rate.
For more control, (using the Tesla as you mentioned), set the ‘off peak’ end of charge time (in ‘departure’, say 04.00) and ‘start charging’ at 00.00, and you’ll have four hours worth at cheap rate.

Yes, both the Model 3 and this Mokka-e are both from Onto. You can subscribe to cars for as long as you want so it’s a great way of trying different EVs.

I don't get Onto. Just looked into the cost of getting one of these per month and, even considering the downpayment and total costs, my leased, mid spec Ioniq 5 turns out cheaper a month.
It's too expensive as a service.

if you have time control on your charger, why the need for it in a car Andrew

    • @MrEV
      @MrEV  2 года назад

There are two issues: firstly, setting a schedule on a charger isn't always possible (our old one couldn't, in fact - our Zappi can, and I have it set-up with the timer). If it is possible, sometimes it's overly-complex.
Secondly, not everyone has a dedicated wallbox. I'm amazed how many people still have to rely on the granny charger.
So I do think it's an odd omission. Even my ancient Leaf has start and stop times!

Was torn between the Citroen eC4 and the Mokka e and definitely wanted this colour.
Went with the Citroen due to my back being damaged in a rear end shunt years ago and the Vauxhall has no hand grips above the doors to help me get in and out the eC4 does.
Also the boot button awkward to reach on the Mokka.
