    It's shakhshoukha with a "kh" sound :) (so we differentiate it from the more well known Shakshuka), it comes from the word "chakhchakh" which in Algerian refers to soaking solid food items into liquid ones, like you do with the flatbread in the sauce :) Thank you for making this, it's so heartwarming to see an all time favourite dish in one of my favourite food channels !!

      If I may add, the bread could be thinner (as thin as possible but just enough for it not to be crispy) but it's amazing that you made it yourself!

    Hard time finding lamb shoulder in California? Lamb is used a lot in Mexican food, any carnicería should have lamb especially in Southern California, ask a random Mexican they will probably know. If push come to shove get it from Baja California, like Mexicali or Tijuana.

    • @ServAnt-h7d
      @ServAnt-h7d 2 месяца назад

      Why? If push comes to shove just use beef instead of lamb USA products are better in the usa. It is crazy to me that people find it acceptable to import (the SAME) food from out of the country, the US has SOOO many resources to feed Americans without seeking outside products. Thankfully trump is about to add tariffs on products from other countries. They need to NOT take buisness away from Americans and sell their products elsewhere.

I much prefer you’d try than to run away from it, otherwise how else would we learn. Also, I don’t speak Arabic so the pronunciation will be off. It’s like pronuncing croissant with a French accent, it just sounds weird doing that when speaking English to English speakers, idk that’s just me though lol.

      @@rg8162 Tried harder? whose to say I didn’t try hard at all? If mispronouncing the name of a country really bothers you then we might have bigger issues. Also, in English ‘ge’ is pronounced the same way you would pronounce ‘gear’ i don’t speak Arabic so I’m pronouncing it the way it sounds to me. Who gets upset bc someone doesn’t pronounce something right? Maybe try offering a kind correction to educate. I also explained how hard it is to find lamb in my area. How much harder would you have liked for me to try? Let’s try finding ways to appreciate someone’s effort rather than finding reasons to complain.

There is clearly a LOT of effort in this video. @rg8162 You have no content and want to talk about the effort? Do you know how much effort goes into creating content? Just the record process itself is tedious. Then editing. The research. Physically going to get the protects. A trial round. Maybe a few failed attempts. It’s easy to criticize when you have no understanding or experience in something. Try creating content then comment on someone’s lack of effort.

      They do have lamb but it's very hard to find in some areas. It depends on the region and the cut. The easiest to find is lamb chops, but even that isn't available everywhere.
