    Chris405- nah I think YOU should take off your green tinted specs its the case of our player is better than yours infact all players mentioned Laudrup . Gascoigne were good players and as a rangers fan I have to say Larsson wasnt a bad player either both rangers and celtic have had great players over the years . God I so miss those old firm games

    In my opinion the situation here is very much like the one now, where Walter Smith should not be allowed to leave Rangers. Tactical Genius and the very best manager in the SPL history.

    The disallowed goal is probably the worst decision I have witnessed at a game since Brian Labone punted Colin Stein up in the air in the 1970 Scotland England for a penalty that wasn’t given . I was there at Ibrox that night and 25 years later still stunned at the goal being disallowed.Some years back Four Four Two magazine highlighted it as one of the worst decisions in an article about Celtic and Rangers .Even watching it back now it’s still a shocker .

    These two teams COULD PLAY SOME LOVELY FOOTBALL. had more entertainment value than many so called big teams in England. I do know in my heart they wouldnt have finished in the TOP TEN IN MY OPINION.IT WOULDVE BEEN BETTER IF ALOT PEOPLE COULD LEAVE THE UNNECESSARY SECTARIAN CRAP OUT OF IF WHERE EVER THE HAT FITS WEAR IT. I LIKE A LOT OF PLAYERS FROM BOTH SIDES.

    @MrBaphomet666 Yeah but tradition dies hard in england, they wont change their ways! Yeah german football seems to be steady, has the highest average attendances in europe apparently. Pity pro football in ireland isnt big, otherwise we could have the rugby system of the "magners league" with a unified scottish, welsh and irish league. I was about to call it a celtic league there(k pronounication), id better be careful ha ha! Imagine the piss ups on those trips ha ha!

  • @irishroverX
    @irishroverX 13 лет назад

    @MrBaphomet666 Again so u understand, i dont support celtic ok, in fact a lot of irish people dont give a fuck about celtic believe it or not. My main point is specificially about rangers gettin favourable decisions against everybody not just celtic. And dallas ref'd lots of OF matches and his neutrality is questionable to say the least. McCurry's performance in that dundee utd game was suspicious and subsequently it turned out his family had rangers connections so questions have to be asked.

  • @stephenmcwilliams5842
    @stephenmcwilliams5842 Год назад

    That blind, hometown linesman cost Celtic the league that year. The four-point swing his inexplicable mistake caused halted Celtic's momentum and the gap at the end was five. I'm convinced a 2-2 draw there would have felt like a loss to rangers.

    • @jamiecarlin-KING
      @jamiecarlin-KING 6 месяцев назад

      I watched that season Rangers were a better team than you! They had match winners. And Celtic had 1 good players and the rest average to poor!

    • @stephenmcwilliams5842
      @stephenmcwilliams5842 6 месяцев назад

      Read what I said: we were robbed of a 2-2 draw at Scumfield that changed the entire season. That was a good rangers team but Celtic should have won the league. The swing was 3 points, not 4, right enough.

    • @jamiecarlin-KING
      @jamiecarlin-KING 6 месяцев назад

      @@stephenmcwilliams5842 You weren’t really robbed tho because decisions like that were common place in the 90s, and even if you got given the goal you can’t know for certain if Rangers wouldn’t score again, it’s unlikely but because Rangers had genuine match winners you never know! Plus Celtic had to build to challenge Rangers because Celtic weren’t always even second back then, they had to get rid of those weird Kelly guys, then they built a better stadium because the way it used to look was terrible! Piece by piece Celtic became a force again! Which is why Rangers never won 10 because Celtic were stronger than they had been in an about 13 years or more at that point.And because Celtic never really troubled Rangers for years- I just find it a reach that one result would have won them the league, especially when they’ve been extremely unsuccessful with no real knack of winning the league at that time. Celtic came good and stopped Rangers winning 10 and even though the season after they won it the first Advocaat year was a treble and won at Celtic Park, but because of all the good steady work Celtic did over those years it wasn’t wasted it actually laid the basic ground work for the Martin O’Neil era! Which a great time for Celtic, they didn’t win every title under him but they were a force to be reckoned with. Mate I don’t make things up in favour of Rangers, if Celtic do good I’d say.- like u can see I’m doing. Sorry this is long I just wanted to get it right.

  • @irishroverX
    @irishroverX 13 лет назад

    Well cardiff and swansea play in england and they're welsh which states the case even more. I guess the SPL would basically collapse if the old firm were to leave but leaving is the only way they'll ever truly progress. The other problem being how to allocate them? Extend an already long premier league season to 22 teams or put them in the championship to begin with? Theres no doubt that celtic and rangers are absolutely huge, apart from man utd &liverpool they're bigger clubs than the rest.

  • @irishroverX
    @irishroverX 13 лет назад

    Thats not my point i mean in a hypothetical situation of rangers and celtic having the same squads as now and were to play the 38 games from the premiership they would be in a relegation scrap. I just meant based on current quality. But on that point, it is a pity they cant play in england i would be in favour of it, because at the end of the day whos benefiting from the current format? At least the scottish league would have different winners and the old firm could do themselves some justice.

  • @irishroverX
    @irishroverX 13 лет назад

    @MrBaphomet666 Theres a reason im impartial as scottish football is beyond a joke. I dont know how u can be excitied or passionate about a league thats got 2 teams only. Not only that 2 teams that have declined so much now that even if they were in the championship they could struggle to get promotion. Dont u think that cardiff city or leeds for example would have every chance of beating the old firm? And as for the rest, the likes of aberdeen or motherwell would probably get relegated in it!

  • @irishroverX
    @irishroverX 13 лет назад

    @MrBaphomet666 Im not saying there was a constant bias but it did surface now and again, and ultmately if a team is good enough they can overcome such things as celtic did in the past. But this match for example clearly had an agenda, those decisons against celtic were blatant. Also, on the subject of referees didnt it come to light that hugh dallas who ref'd many an old firm game turned out to be a rangers fan and his son was an ibrox season ticket holder? Talk about a conflict of interest!

  • @Bamber7

    Andy Gray was going mental that night on the gantry.....Rangers were amazing.....this was the night they won 9 in a row! Magnificent, what a club, what a support.....the one and only RANGERS!

  • @irishroverX
    @irishroverX 13 лет назад

    And on a wider note the amount of decisons against the other teams in scotland is far worse. Lord knows rangers and celtic would kick most teams arses in their sleep but the odd occasion when they are matched or even bettered they(rangers/celtic although mainly rangers) always seem to cross the line. Rangers and dundee utd of 08 being one of the best examples. Leveins interview afterwards was priceless but he really hit the nail on the head!

    @MrBaphomet666 Well i did touch on the fact that hugh dallas's son was a season ticket holder at ibrox and who no less was sacked from his position as head of ref development for sectarian abuse he dished out. And mike mccurry whos sister was a season ticket holder at ibrox and whos involved in an orange order. That infamous rangers dundee utd match 2 yrs ago was truly a scandal, like i said levein's interview was bang on, rangers had to win by any means neccessary and mccurry duly obliged them.

    What a great night that was! The Gers looked to be struggling, with Ally and Goughie out with the flu....Gazza started, but wasn't fully fit. The Hammer's free kick was truly amazing, as Goram's ability to hit Di Canio twice with the ball, innocently of course, brought the house down. Walter going mad in front of the East enclosure after Erik's second goal was the highlight of the night. Cheer up Tommy Burns resounded round the lodge, magnificent.

    There was 2 blatant decisions here that went against celtic, first being an obvious foul that lead to the second goal and cadete's goal that was clearly onside. I can draw comparisons to the way the situation used to be in spain where a lot of dubious decisions went to real madrid as they were seen as the "state" team and nobody really liked barca and therefore used to suffer hostility quite a lot. It was somewhat similar in scotland. Although thankfully this is not the case anymore.

  • @danielhughes984
    @danielhughes984 10 лет назад +3

    Incredibly biased view. Cadete was onside and never touched the ball with his hand and Celtic were the better team.

  • @irishroverX
    @irishroverX 13 лет назад

    The superleague thing might happen depending on future finance but it kinda defeats the purpose of european competition then, also scotland as an example wouldnt be guaranteed a club then in the champions league. There could be all sorts of pitfalls to it. Either way change is required, in the meantime gotta settle for trips away to st johnstone on a bitter bollock freezing january night!
