I think a lot of us are waiting for a vehicle that is more barebones, unproblematic and repairable. This is an issue with the entire car industry not just EV's. So if Canoo can make an affordable vehicle, with "Right to Repair" in mind it would be fantastic. Beeing able to fix an older battery in an affordable way. Access to Knowlegde and Components for Component Level Repair. Long term support for parts. And components that are manufactured in a more rust proof way to last longterm.

I really want one of those $21k 2-door models with space behind the seats and the molle bed walls. And I already have a stick to clean the windshield so far away from the seats. ;) It could be everything I want. Build and toss a $500-$1k foamie camper on the back and live in it for a few days on a trip. Take it off and haul stuff for self and friends. Lay it out and carry plywood sheets for a shed. The room behind the seats is enough for my 3 bags of groceries each week. Add a few solar panels and recharge it at home. Love it.
Same... I put up money in 2020 for a pickup that was supposed to ship the following year. They never created any consumer products and have been trying to land corporate fleet deals for delivery vans ever since. Get out and get your refund while you can!
I think about that quite a lot actually. The problem is I am home during peak hours for my state. I can't imagine how fiendishly expensive it would be to charge a car sized appliance at that time. It looks like I need to buy my solar array first, then the car.
Wat EV drivers need to understand is the grid in ALL nations cant handle TOO many EV'S and it takes upto 12hrs and more to charge at ur home, wat u gonna do in emergencies? for us 5mins at service station and boom 300+ mile tank. ever seen a cyber truck in snow😂😂😂
The only HUGE problem i see in this vehicle, is when politicians see their milk cow (Taxes from fuel sales) dwindling, charging vehicle (Electric power) or registration hit sky high ( say 5,000 a year to register it) and in California's case, perform emission on the batteries..... they will figure how to do such travesty.... Don't believe me, lets talk, 15 years from now....
The registration will be higher. Texas is charging an initial registration fee of $400 and after that a $200 annual registration fee. Ice vehicles are $50.75. $200 is no where close to $5,000. I’m not concerned.
I’ve been following this truck from when it was announced several years ago. I’d love to get the off road capable version with racks, tie downs, etc. maybe even a recovery winch.
Looks fun, but as discovered, starting a new car company is extremely capital intensive and manufacturing is hard. They have good manufacturing partners, at least, i just hope they have the materials secured to produce the orders.
Japanese car makers have been making forward control "trucks" this shape since the 60s, and VW first made the type 2 truck in the 1950s, it's just a reimagining of those trucks with EV power for this century.
A lot of automakers have promised 500 miles per charge but have not produced what was promised and also price range of end product so we the consumers will have to wait and see.
Someone always makes a statement like this but it’s from a very uninformed perspective. Engineers have been designing electronic devices that are waterproof well in excess of operating requirements for decades.
Put a bench seat in the Canoo so three people can fit if need. Also it's good the bed is six feet. All the new small pickups like the Maverick have way too small of a bed. Basically usless.
4x6 ft bed is already bigger than the maverick. After the 50% price increase of the cybertruck, I cancelled that. I really want a van anyway. Let's see if canoo ever ships. Hopefully it cost less than the VW Buzz.
I'm guessing the Army would plan on only using these on US bases with EV infrastructure. I don't see any real tactical benefit to using these anywhere near the battlefield. Limited Range, long down time after each use, completely unusable in cold weather, a single hit will probably turn it into an inferno.
I wanted to be all in on a truck and with my cybertruck reservation and foundation series being tested by RUclipsrs… it’s not living up to the hype or what was promised. Now I’m rethinking my truck purchase and I’m hoping this won’t be a bust.
Where are they getting a range of 500 miles? Canoo's own website says 200+. There is no way possible to get this cost down to 21K. Heck an Arcimoto FUV costs just under that. I LOVE the design but we need to be realistic with price and expectations. I would buy one if it can land around 50K, can use the Tesla charging network from the start, and has 250-ish miles of range. I currently have two Model Ys and will likely never buy another gas car again. The wife thinks the Cybertruck is too ugly though. Also very glad I sold my GOEV stock when it was around $2.50. This morning (1/23/24) it is worth 18.6 cents/share. Running the risk of being delisted from the market at this point.
I love the canoo conceptually and visually.. I hope it's the American version of Toyotas new imv0.. solid transportation with limitless upgradability..
For this to work I’d think we need EV to be replaceable batteries meaning a pack of batteries is charging while you’re going to work and swap out to a full battery pack when you get home. Cool design, but Canoo is in deep financial distress and lacks production system and supply chain necessary to make and deliver these trucks profitably
