This is a virtual timeslip for drag racing that is based of GPS satellites. But exactly how accurate is it? Is it close enough to get good repeatable data when racing with no timeslips? Lets compare a few passes at the drag strip with a timeslip.

I think the difference between the two could be that the dragy starts the moment the car moves as to where the timeslip doesn't start till you break the beams
I have tought the same thing, but I noticed in another review video that the Dragy has what looks like a tree on it. I wonder if it has both options? A tree and/or the beginning of motion.
@@BobaJett The tree is put in place after the fact. The tree is timed to start whenever the driver desires, not the other way around. They aren’t reacting to a tree, it’s just a “filter” put on after the fact.
That is exactly why dragy is slightly off to the slow side. On the dragy it does measure roll out for 0-60.
On the draggy it says nhra rules witch means the rollout is on if u turn the rules off u no longer have rollout
Wow, that's amazing that it's that accurate. I see one in my future without a doubt.
I paused half way through the video and ordered one off of ebay. I'll have it Tuesday 😎
It said 4 were sold in the last hour (before I bought mine), I bet the sales were from this video!
Damn, if I was a kid again, and wasn't worried about breaking my car to pieces!
Me and my buddies would be deffffffinitely getting one.
Definitely close enough to give you a good idea of what you’re running and if you made the right changes or not.
Not give an idea. This is 99.9 percent close
Ordered one yesterday evening drunk as fuark..now I can see it was a good drunk call😂😂
I have been debating on if i wanna get a dragy and this video helps me make up my mind!
Awesome! Thanks for putting together a video at the track.
Great no BS video! I’m buying one today. Looks super accurate. It seems the 60 ft times are the most far off but still extremely close. BTW your reaction times are dialed in!👏🏼👏🏼 Thanks for posting the video.
Sweet af I just found this custom emoji!!
Great video, love the direct comparison. You have convinced me to buy one. Thanks... much appreciated!!!
Thanks for this info John!
I have been doing dragy videos on my page for a good while now, they are a blast to play with
Great review! Thanks👍👍
Hi John Thanks for the videos remember that you also can watch on the blue line on the dragy screen if the car looses momentum down the line and use that info to set up the car 😉
Thanks again John
They’re awesome. Wish we could share pics here. Used it this weekend just for grins at the track and for a 4.95@145.78 slip the Dragy said 4.94 @145.98.
Vbox is more accurate
How much power sir?
@@ALEX.THE.RUSSIAN 8000 HP
@smzxe YT in the game lol? Or you mean 800? , your running way faster then that with 8k hp
@@ALEX.THE.RUSSIAN, right around 1500 back then to run that. Little over 3100lbs.
Just ordered Dragy. Very cool to know it's pretty much dead on accurate 👍
Pretty Awesome definitely close enough to get information from testing
A lot better than the G-Tech I bought back in the early 2000's
Cheaper, too. 😲
💯Nice review , wow, that thing does seem accurate, I think I'll buy one.
Gonna try and come to Piedmont this weekend.
This video has now made me go buy one for my channel 👍
Just got me one!!
Whether or not its accurate, its consistant and that gives u something to work off of
Yes
Well done.
PLOT TWIST: It's the track slips that are off
How would you prove that it's the tracks timer that is off...✌
@matthewvarnam4302 how would you prove its the dragy🤷
A very, very interesting thing that most people don’t know about is; at a drag strip the MPH is *calculated* by how fast the car goes over the last 66” of the track and that the displayed MPH is an *average* of the speed it took to go that last 66”. This is a fact and both the speed at the 1/8 mile and the 1/4 mile is a *calculated* *average*
I do not know exactly how a dragy works but based on the facts above the dragy may actually be more accurate. May not. Either way a dragy is an amazing little device.
Very close...the trap speed is almost dead on. I'm sold.
Just order mine today
I have one.. I find it very fun to use. I have not been to a drag strip. but in my personal car, I use it.. and I get within a second of what GM says my car will run 0-60
Now what you are missing is a link that you could make a few pennies for every Dragy sold. I am due for one, after realizing that the Holley GPS won't plug into a standard Terminator X screen. Thanks John
I bought one because going to the track is a hassle sometimes and luckily I live in farm country on a long highway . Our car is registered and I activate the insurance when I want to play .
🚓🚓🚗🚗Just what I needed. You rock T John. I just subbed to show my support for your Channel.
Thanks!
The 60fts don't seem to be the most difference. Might have to pick one of these up for next year
using the Dragy too ....also have a GTech device wich very acurate too but slow in connection because just using Sattelite Signal ..Dragy is using GPS from Cellphone signal too .. thats why its connecting that fast .. 60ft cant be exact because dragy starts when you move ..and 60ft timing starts when you pass the stage light.. I think..
I'm getting one for sure. Question is should I weight for an new improved version next spring? (They always do that to me if I buy now). Every one on here is talking about placement of dragy. I don't think there's any thing there. I would agree that roll-out would have a lot to do with it. Try super deep stage. Turn the top bulb off, less roll-out. or shallow , the farther back you are , the more of a run at it you get.
Draggy are awesome, I have a Kawasaki z125 we make 1/8 mile (9.6-9.9) hits up the road on it to see if the kids we change make it faster
I thought it was the new giveaway prize.
the difference in times is from “roll out” when you release the trans brake at the track the draggy starts.. but the track slip doesn’t start till you break the beams. if you deep stage it would be even closer. 👍👍
The slip with the best reaction time was the closest to the Dragy. Most likely deeper staged like you said.
Great point!
Bought mine this week...
Jacksonville in da house!!!
Those are some impressive times man, how much power and boost are you running?
No need for Dragstrip after today thanks DRAGY
Some of the difference has to do with roll out on the stage beams.
To bad your not sponcered by them. I ordered one!
I'll buy one as soon as I win Charlie Murphy! Otherwise the Silverado doesnt really need one.
Bought. They oughta give you a cut.
I know this video has been up a while, but I have one question that I can't find the answer to anywhere... Is it a one time payment at purchase for the use, or is it subscription based, where you have to pay monthly? Glad this video popped up! Your car hauls, and excellent driving on your part!
Once you buy it, there is no more money you pay. You just download the app to your phone, when you make a pass blue tooth the phone to the dragy. The phone has to stay in the car to record the pass.
@@TurboJohnRacing Thanks for the quick reply! Good to hear! I might have to pick one up for tuning in my snowmobile clutches!
Wow surprised it's that close thanks for video ✝️🇺🇸👍
I know the video is old but if you think about it why its slower by just a little.. other then the starting line dont the beams at the 1/8 and 1/4 pick up the nose of the car? meaning it starts your time at the tire but finishes at the nose where the draggy is just a exact start and stop on the same spot so it would make sense that it would read a touch slower but in reality its probably more accurate then the beams at the track in that sense?
CrApple
Can you actually turn off the display, stick it in your backpack and it still records everything? Asking because I'm on a motorcycle. Thanks!
Just bought one.. but Dam that Foxbody haul's ass
Do you hit start after you preload or before?
I heard dragy now accounts for the 1 foot rollout is that correct??? Tks.
I love mine we went 684 on the street and 683 at the track it's pretty accurate
Track and street will be totally different usually street a lot slower since no prep
Ry Crash first I seen anybody use it!
When your knockin on one fiddy's door and you don't want to shout about it but you would be cool if it was out there. Call in Dragy
What is the 0-60 on a 4.90 pass?
It seems the dragy isn’t effected by things as the lights are with shallow staging verse deep staging and such. That seems to be the only real difference
draggy is kinda pointless unless ur trying to be on the leaderboards. If your in a area with good cell reception Race timer app
What was to 60mph fox looks like it would run on most electric cars
Hundreth … thats whats after tenths
I have one ... I think I might of lost it when I crashed
Kyle I love the new car. Still can’t believe how quick it got built.
That sucks
Do you think it would make a difference if you put the Dragy closer to the front tires. If your dragy starts 8 feet behind the starting line it stops its 1/8 mile 8 feet short of the finish line because it just measure 660 from its start point.
It could screw with it because of how much the front lifts. It monitors altitude as well.
I was thinking the same thing
🤯
660' is 660' lol.
Would putting as close to the front of the car as possible make the difference? Not familiar with the dragy at all just wondering
It would prolly be less accurate due to the front elevation change upon launch and down the track. Center of vehicle is probably best
For guys racing on dirt in 200 ft, do you have to run the whole 1/8th mile to get the 60 ft times? Alot of us mud racers tune for the 60 ft. Just curious.
it has different instrumentals you can set
How does the Dragy react when you are bumping in? Curious about when you "reset" it to get ready to go. I assume you have to wait until after burnout?
I'd assume you'd %100 have to wait to be fully stopped before going
And yes click reset
Anyone use it on a Samsung s9 or ubove?
Just bought one, I’m new to all of this, if you only test at 1/8 mile does it calculate what you would run in the quarter?
No
Now could someone like use the phone from the starting line or does the phone have to be In the car?
It has to be in the car
@@TurboJohnRacing ok thank you so much I just bought one for my dad and was curious
No.
Dragy doesn't factor in roll out. I believe that's why it's a little slower
It actually does factor in roll out. If you make a custom 60ft, it will show you the time with a rollout. This time matches the 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile report.
Wow. Can even see where he peddled it.
Yes, it's crazy accurate
@@TurboJohnRacing good enough as a G meter or not that good?
The slope on the dragy is a joke....-1.09% on a dragstrip. Then it goes +0.10, or -0.60, or -0.35...WTF.
Was the device secured properly on the dash or what ?
Or it's that accurate, as your suspension will change the elevation on takeoff(front lift) and if the road isn't level it will also affect it.
. Maybe Billy the kid showed you it ?🤔👑👽
The dragy records slightly slower times because of rollout, right?
Yep that’s correct
👍👍if you deep stage it would be even closer. draggy starts at trans brake release.. but track slip starts when tire rolls out of beams.
Dragy drg69 or
70
Is that frost on the ground?
dew
Draggy is extremely accurate
Great video John! NC here as well! Come to Piedmont Dragway for the Triad Street Scene $5 drags. We do not prep it's $5 to get in free to run! Mostly street cars but if you have a tag you're welcome to make passes! Check us out at Triad Street Scene on Facebook! Let me know if you're coming I'll pay your way in LOL ($5) but it'd be cool to let people know that you're coming out...
Draggy more accurate then old abused system on racetrack
used my phone and gave a better result.
I noticed on my Dragy that the slope rating changes a lot. Some runs are verified, some are not, even on the same road that is level.
Wonder if it is picking up on the car rising in the front or something
Lol coastal plains
dragy also calculates the Slope
It’s accurate enough for $150
Do your competitors give you shit about publishing ETs?
