American here...Before you even mentioned the scale that was my exact thought. I feel the customer that is going to purchase your delightful cookbook would be savvy enough to want (or already have) a scale for accuracy. Scales are so inexpensive and so easy to use. For anyone giving the book as a gift they could complement it with a scale for a complete package. ❤❤❤

I get why you enjoy your "Alone" weekends. My husband is a Wildlife photographer, works from home, I'm an Artist work from home. we are together 24/7. We get along great, but I do look forward to his road trips away. Something about doing what you like when you like and not having to be concerned with anyone else. If I want to sit and read there are no interruptions. Pure joy.

American here! I have been using a kitchen scale for many years for baking purposes. It also comes in handy when I find a recipe from a different country. Americans who enjoy baking, probably own a kitchen scale.

Yes I have noticed in the last several years that Americans are using scales more and more when baking & less things to wash when you’re finished.

22:22 I think you’d be doing new bakers a great service by having Christopher explain in more detail why grams are the preferred measurement for bakers around the world- including the U.S. Once people understand why the precision offered by grams is so crucial for a great bake, I’d imagine they wouldn’t WANT any other measurement!
We need someone to explain why a system that provides more accuracy is better for baking which requires more accuracy, in general, than cooking? Is this a product of not teaching critical thinking anymore? Really?
American here! We cook and bake at work and for the sake of adjusting quantities quickly, we use grams and kitchen scales. Scales are CHEAP! I learned to do this at my last job with a Michelin-star chef who only used grams on his recipes as well.
Cecilia, you deserve all the subscribers and recognition your channel can get. It’s clear how much work and passion you put into each video. Can’t wait to see winter in Svalbard as it’s still 85 degree where I live and I’m dying to be able to wear sweaters and flannel!

I was drawn to your channel because of my heritage…I am Canadian but my paternal grandparents came from Norway and settled in one of our prairie provinces. Some of your daily habits like airing your bedding,snacking on knackenbrod and going outside in all weather to enjoy nature seem so familiar to me! 😍Good luck with the book launch!
In America. We bake and we love using grams as a measurement. It really is more accurate. Having a kitchen scale is much more common now than it used to be. Just do your measurements in grams, you'll be fine!
A kitchen scale is all you need; they are easy to pick up. So, make the recipe in grams (metric measurement)! No problem 💕
Another American who already bakes with a scale using grams. I think it’s perfectly fine to not do the conversion. It’s sweet that you considered it, but not necessary 😀 I love and appreciate all your work and look forward to everything that you so generously share with us all 😍
Scottish person here. First of I adore your channel and as someone has already said, you deserve all the recognition you can get. It is so evident how hard you work to give us a look into a world some of us can only dream of. Re the measurements, I follow many bakers and chefs from around the world and I’m so used to converting. I wouldn’t even consider it a problem when compiling your cookbook. I have an old scale that does both grams and ounces but if in doubt I just ask Alexa or good old Google ❤️

American here! I agree with what others have said- I feel like the people that are purchasing your book are probably going to have a scale or will be more than willing to get one. I personally appreciate recipes that are in grams because I know they are more precise and accurate. If they don’t have one, they’re available on Amazon for less than $10
P.s. I purchased your baking recipe book last year and really loved the caramel yum yums! Can’t wait for this new set of recipes!

I prefer your town under snow even know I wish your Autumn lasted a few weeks longer because the browns and greens and overall Gloomy vibe is a whole Mood! The snow makes it beautiful on another level! Also 2 degrees where I live means it's the dead of Winter! And we don't even get snow, we're just cold! 😅
I'm about to buy a scale because right now I use a mixture of cups and grams... 1 cup = 200g flour, sugar ... It works for me even know I lose or gain a few grams here and there... It's just home baking so it's ok.

I have a kitchen scale, so switching to grams would work for me (and if you don't have a kitchen scale and you cook, it's the best $20 you'll ever spend).
Digital scales are cheap and so easy to use, dogs just make the world better ❤
My baking got so much better once I bought a digital scale and started using grams. I also find it much easier overall, since then you can just put your mixing bowl on the scale and don’t need measuring cups when adding ingredients. Looking forward to your cookbook!

I’m in Pittsburgh, and that’s the same way here. Less snow than usual! Sometimes that’s good and yet sometimes it’s blah. My daughter and her friends only got to go sledding once last winter!
Single, solo, caravan dwelling disabled American. I wouldn't buy it now, since there's no one to cook for. But I would have back when I I had a houseful. I used to make these "world famous" cinnamon sticky buns that took more than hours start to finish but were completely worth the time and effort.❤ measurements are everything, and I do own a scale and a conversion chart.
If you ever decided to do a 1-2 serving cook book or baking guide I'd definitely be interested. I have an Itty bitty RV freezer so more than that is too much❤

Cecelia, I live in New Jersey USA. I prefer measuring my ingredients in grams! Yes, my OXO brand scale does measure in both gms and ounces. I bought both cookbooks last year. I’ll probably get this years’, and have no problem using grams. ❤

I know others have said this, but a serious American baker has a scale. I sometimes look up British recipes online and find them very easy to follow due to the weight measurements. I also like the idea someone else posted of gifting a scale with the recipes. I can’t wait to try some of your holiday treats!

I agree! I am from the US (living in MX) and love to bake. I bought a $10 kitchen scale years ago and the measurements are so much more accurate! Folks, if you bake and don't have a scale, please get one. You can convert oz to grams with one button. Even for your flour. Your baked good will be so much better!

UK I use grams or pounds/ounces. I do use cups but when it comes to baking, you have to be very accurate so I prefer grams❤

USA here. I would by cook book and use it with no conversion. Love the tranquility that your videos give me and the views are spectacular. I normally hate the cold anything bellow 50 F is too cold for me. With that said your videos have giving me a bucket list - take a year or two and live in a northdic town and experience the weather and the nature that is there. That is a bucket list dream! For now will continue to watch and experience the views you provide.
I have 24:35 24:36 24:38 n converting to grams. I find it actually easier than cups (American here). Though I know some people find the idea of changing to grams hard it's actually easy. I originally bought my kitchen scale to use for dividing a skein of yarn into two equal amounts for knitting socks! Then I use a cheap Mr Coffee drip machine to make my coffee & discovered if I weighed the amount of coffee I was using I could get a reliable good cup of coffee every time rather than measuring by a spoon. So easy. And the kitchen scales are available in a wide variety of prices I think I paid $10 US dollars for mine at my local pharmacy CVS.
Once I started watching the British baking show some years ago I converted to weight. So much easier! Not to mention the accuracy. I think others who are passionate about baking will be fine with those measurements. I also agree with what someone else said about including a blurb about the necessity of accuracy in baking would be helpful for those on the fence

It's 2am in Australia, I'm happy I couldn't sleep and got to see a new video so early! I'm so envious of your transition into Autumn and Winter, it's Spring here in Aus and warming up (28C tomorrow) I do NOT like the warm weather! I was thinking the same thing! With the wind how does it stay intact? During pandemic a local restaurant here started using them on terrace that overlooks the beautiful creek in town. They call them igloos and still use them each winter.

Hello from Southern CA 👋🏻 It’s been in the high 80’s and 90’s F this past week and watching your cozy video is so calming and relaxing. We don’t get snow in this part of CA so your videos are a nice departure from the sun. And grams are fine! We’re used to converting for cooking or baking.

I’m an American and say do it in grams. I feel us home cooks need to learn how to bake this way. Love learning about your culture. My grandmother was born and raised in Norway and other family came from Sweden. My dream is to come and visit these 2 countries.

I don’t envy winter coming so early. I live in Northern Canada and while we have not had frost, I know by the time November comes winter will arrive.
I cook but don't bake much, but I've found that when it comes to baking precision really is key to making anything turn out proper. I'd go with grams, most people who do home baking have a kitchen scale.
