We can always tell a captain who spent a lot of time in the right seat by the position of his mike boom on his headset.

You're right. For those who may not know:
The position of the microphone boom on a pilot's headset can reveal information about their level of experience. When a pilot is in the right seat for a long time, they may develop a habit of positioning the microphone boom on their headset to the right, as they would have to move it out of the way to view the instruments on the right side of the cockpit.
Therefore, if a captain positions the microphone boom on the right side of his headset, it could suggest that he has spent a significant amount of time in the right seat as a co-pilot or first officer before becoming a captain.
