  • Electronic music pioneer and legend Jean-Michel Jarre recalls what brought him to mangle with sounds and what his biggest influences were when he began composing electronic pieces. That video was also the occasion for him to look back on his latest release Oxymore and how Osmose blended in his latest compositions, providing a wide array of SFXs and drone tones.

    Amazing innovation! The Osmose key-switch technology is far beyond the keyboards offered by Yamaha, Korg, Roland, Novation...
    Congratulations on creating a truly 21st century keyboard. Will the Osmose be able to utilize the expanded capabilities of MIDI 2.0?

    Je rêve de ce que peut faire une artiste comme Hania Rani avec Osmose. Elle qui fait de ses pianos des percussions, ce serait extraordinaire ! Dans un autre registre, enregistrer en vidéo le premier contact de l'Osmose avec une pianiste célèbre comme Hélène Grimaud devrait être un moment unique ... Merci messieurs d'avoir imaginé et créé cet instrument exceptionnel. 😗🙃😊

    I got to play one in a shop a couple days ago and I am absolutely smitten. As a keyboardist, I have always wanted the level of expression that a violinist has over their instrument, and the Osmose is the first keyboard that I am aware of that has offered such extensive sound shaping capabilities simply by the manner in which it is touched by the player. I will get one.

    • @ExpressiveE
      @ExpressiveE  Год назад +2

      We're glad Osmose has met your expectations! We hope most keyboard players will react the same way as you do, as our goal is to make expressiveness a standard in pianists' playing!

    While I essentially agree with everything JMJ says, I think the danger is getting lost in the textural side of music and forgetting the thing that grabs you. Unfortunately I think that is what happened with Oxymore. It's a wonderful example of music concrete but not a great example of music. And perhaps that was the point but it just doesn't grab me enough.
    Still, it's always great to see JMJ in his studio. When I start doubting him as a musician, these kinds of videos always reassure me. More of this please JMJ

    • @ExpressiveE
      @ExpressiveE  Год назад +1

      Very interesting point! While we can't comment on the textural VS melodic approach (which are not necessarily opposite to us), we simply want to stress that this video focuses on Osmose being used an "SFX generator". The synth has also tons of keys, lead, bass (and more...) presets and it is at-ease at producing "more classic" music. :)
      Like every instrument, it really depends on the player.

    I'm glad I found this video! The Osmose looks like a killer addition to a studio and now I definitely want one. Is it just me or is JMJ running the Osmose through a Bose TV Speaker!? That's such a great idea but for some reason there isn't anywhere else I've seen someone doing this. Looks like a great way to make your creative synth space immersive. Expressive E is that something you've seen anyone else doing?

    Sympa comme vidéo toujours plaisant d'écouter monsieur Jarre dans son approche (dommage qu'il ne parle pas dès l'articulation (des modes de jeu des instruments) et des possibilités offertes dans l'osmose mais en même temps il est difficile de tout dire en 10 min et je pense qu'il a dit l'essentiel 👍
