I was kinda wondering if Luffy could beat all of Zoro’s opponents. Especially early on, since they’re all swordsmen and he’s vulnerable to cutting attacks.
True. I think he would make it in most cases, too.
Exception is Mr 1 and maybe Ryuma. I think Luffy BEFORE Onigashima Raid would also stand no chance against King.

No hate for zoro but I don't think he'll be able to defeat big mom or Kaido alone. I don't think luffy will get much much stronger, so big mom and kaido will forever be threats.
bro, whether Luffy could have defeated all of Zoro's opponents, especially in the early stages of the series when his rubber body was still more vulnerable to cutting attacks.

Yeah. He could also just use three sword style with the butt of his swords like he did in Water 7. If Zoro is smart enough to figure out King's weakness, it wouldn't take long to figure out Buggy is vulnerable to blunt force attacks. I honestly don't know what he was thinking here. His thought process on how the fight would go is so oversimplified I thought he might be joking.

A super lame version of the story without marineford. Actually Blackbeard probably would have ended up getting Luffy and turning him in and Luffy would have been executed. Unless dragon took Whitebeards place

On the topic of Buggy, what if Zoro just used the sides of his blades to do blunt damage instead of cutting? I think he could win after figuring out that cutting is ineffective.
Edit: YES I AM AWARE OF NO SWORD STYLE. I went with the sides of his swords because that was used in Whiskey Peak while no sword style debuted in Long Ring Long Land, which was much later.

theres a whole arc between dressrosa and wano tho. he got stronger before he got enma. and he still barely beat king with enma. i highly doubt he would beat doffy especially considering doffy can stitch himself back together if he gets cut. he couldnt really do much to luffys punches.

my guess is that zoro can legit defeat all except kaido whom luffy on 1 v 1 cant even defeat "that given, not argumentative at the moment so far chapter 1103 is concerned". I believe even katakuri who is < King imo but katakuri seems stronger because of his observation haki. I guess the only issue will be him but he will manage
I think you nailed more than 90% of the battles. The one I strongly disagree with is against buggy. All that zoro has to do is reverse his blade and he can easily beat up buggy with the blunt side. Another option would simply use his strength and punch him or kick him. I know he is a swordman but he is faster and stronger than buggy so there. Also, if we take into account the non cannon movement of no sword stile that could be a third way (assuming he could do it at this time)
Of course, I think post wano Zoro does defeat pre wano Katakuri. I think it’s also very safe to say that Katakuri has been honing his abilities. Obviously we haven’t seen it yet, but if the two ever did clash post wano. I think it would be an incredibly interesting fight. I’d even rate Katakuri above King in terms of power. Something I’m aware is a hot take, but realistically as Katakuri is likely now in full command of Whole Cake Island I think he more or less has to become yonko level post wano. I can’t wait until he’s reintroduced into the story, whether as the more likely friend or even as a foe. Zoro vs Katakuri pre wano though goes to Katakuri easily as you said. Katakuri is one of my personal favorites in the whole series, if you couldn’t tell lol

simply getting into fights with strong people is enough to make u mcuh stronger. he fought luffy for 12+ hours which more than likely had a growth on katakuri
Katakuri offensive power is nowhere near the lvl of King. Zoro couldn't block. When King exploded, Zoro even stated if he didn't get his armament haki up in time, he would die. Mochi? King will burn through all of that. Future sight? Speed overrides future sight. King moves so fast he can turn invisible.
Don't. Katakuri got clowned by Caesar. Marco didn't get any stronger during the timeakip.
Some of the matchups were treated like Dragon Ball power levels and left out nuances important to OP power scaling that make these fights interesting to speculate.
1) Buggy is the absolute hard counter to swordsmen without haki but we see Zoro using swords inverted as blunt weapons all the time pre-timeskip and Buggy was incapacitated several times by Luffy's normal attacks so as long as Zoro realizes quickly that Buggy will need improvisation he could take that one easily. The only doubt is the fact that the first time he faced Buggy he got tricked into being stabbed and weakened so if we assume that didn't happen to give Zoro full strenght before the fight it means that would probably happen during the fight, maybe taking away his opportunity.
2) Don Krieg boasted about his steel armor the whole fight and it took Luffy multiple finishers to break through it. Zoro has a whole arc about finally becoming able to cut through steel and that happens way later in Alabasta so, its not a clean win agains Krieg. It's not impossible because he can swim and wouldn't goof around as much as Luffy so a hit to Krieg's head is still viable but it's an unclear result, pending to Krieg's side.
3) Mr. 3 is another problematic matchup because we literally see Zoro try and fail to cut the wax at this point so even though its not impossible given Zoro skill and persistence, this one pends heavily to Mr. 3 side and it's not a clean kill.
4) Wapol poses a weird challenge because he's literally made of a special metallic-alloy that we later see being used by advanced tech because of its special properties and Zoro still can't cut metal at this point. Again not impossible but it would be far from easy as the enemy would be a metal fortress full of canons and weapons against a swordsmen without haki.
4) Crocodile is pretty much open to interpretation since if we buy that Luffy can hit him because his fist being wet makes the sand crumple we are forced to apply this bullshit logic to wet swords as well. Maybe he can't cut him, but he could hit him with blunt force, and thats ignoring his pre-haki that took down Mr. 1.
Still don't think he can match Crocodile's skill since it took Luffy multiple tries to win that one and he nearly died in multiple of those, being saved by his Luffyness but it's another messy fight.
5) Moria is absolutely not going down by Zoro's hands in Thriller Bark tho. We see the absurd difference Gear 2 and 3 make at the very end of the pre-timeskip, in terms of speed and power.
The entire crew spent the night ganging up on Oars but Luffy literally crumpled him with a single Gear 3 attack to the face. Luffy is just too fast and too strong using the gears to be comparable to Zoro at this point and Moria wasnt even defeated by Luffy, using both gears he still only managed to push the Warlord back enough that the tower falling on him finished the fight. Being able to tank the same damage, through the Kuma bubble, doesn't mean Zoro would fight as well as Luffy did.
6) No-haki Zoro would never touch the gorgon sisters in Amazon Lily with simple sword attacks. We only see the tide of battle change when Luffy starts using Gear 2 to blitz them and all his attacks were being repelled by their armament's like nothing. Maybe he could tap into some haki here but the fight is still very much biased towards them.
7) Katakuri is the most interesting matchup of them all if you think about it. Luffy was only able to win here because of his natrual affinity for evolving mid-battle. He insisted on extending the fight as much as possible so that he could basically train observation haki while battling and it paid off in the end but we need to remember that the one straw hat with the earliest talent for developing haki is actually Zoro. In Alabasta we saw him use both armament and observation haki before any of those were even explained.
If we agree that the main requirements to beat Katakuri is being strong to last long while developing haki mid-fight to match his future sight, Zoro is probably the only other candidate that would make sense here.
The only part that makes this seem a bit impossible is the fact that Luffy needed Gear 4 to keep up at the end stage of the fight and people sometimes forget but Gear 4 combines the speed from the blood-pump of Gear 2 with a superior version of the strenght of Gear 3 (since he learns to inflate the muscles instead of the bones, gaining power beyond just size) and all of that encased in constant armament armor.
That is an absurd boost in speed, power and durability that Zoro just doesnt have and would need to progress the same as Luffy did but using just base form through the whole fight.
Even an Asura here woulndt make that much of a difference outside of a certain finisher if he cant manage to last and trade blows for as long as Luffy did to be able to adapt to future-sight.

Great vid as always bro, just one thing tho im not so sure Zoro couldnt handle Doffy, he didnt have an actual tough fight that really pushed him for a very long during that timeframe so we never got to see what his full power was between then and him getting Enma and its not like there was a timeskip for him to increase his strength during that period of time so realistically the whole Doffy situation is for plot reasons, just like how Fujitora could have taken out Doffy as well and yet was 'struggling' against the strings.

Mihawk had more fun in marineford then everyone else, he didn't used a named attack or something. And now his bounty is higher than 2yonkos and buggy is scared af from him.
1:22 Zoro can just use the back of the blades, like he's wont to do so from time to time, especially when he doesn't want to kill the other person or hurt them more than necessary. The back of the blade for Buggy's case would be devastating whiplash blows, so, I would say the fight could be prolonged, but once Zoro figures out the problem with the Chop-Chop Fruit, he will win.

When it comes to doflamingo I dont think even luffy would have been able to break the bird cage, not even fuji tora was able to break it. But considering how well zoro was doing throuighout the ark without using asura I think he stands a good change of beating doflamingo.
Same thing with katakuri, we never saw zoro even need to use ashura before wano so if he did use it against kat i think zoro would win.
I think the only reason Luffy lived the poison was because of his willpower and devil fruit it was giving him extra help.

Ngl idk if zoro would’ve been able to break krieg’s armor. Remember yhe point of plate armor is to be incredibly resistant to swords, and krieg’s armor in particular is made of an incredibly durable material. Luffy was able to break it cuz he has incredibly blunt strength which is plate armor’s weakness

For the early part, I think Zoro might be crazy enough to fight Crodile with his own blood and sweat and win.
"It only makes sense for the pirate king's right hand man to be yonko level as well" I can't wait for that to happen. i think sanji would also be a yonko level since he's the other half of the "wings of the future pirate king" The strawhats would be a real powerhouse by the end of the series having 3 yonko tier members, a former warlord of the sea and possibly another yonko commander level like yamato if she ever joins the straw hats.
Even Fujitora was just blocking the birdcage. That doesn't mean he couldn't cut it. So zoro blocking the birdcage and not cutting it doesn't prove anything.

I'm not sure how strong one would have to be able to cut up Doffy's seemingly most powerful weapon - the Birdcage - but you just need to be strong enough to beat up or cut up Doffy. Luffy beat him but surely wouldn't have been able to do anything about the Birdcage itself.
Everytime Zoro has a close match up he learns something about himself, Swordsmanship, or the world. I think if Zoro had to fight buggy, Zoro would be a slightly different fighter. East blue buggy and Zoro would make Zoro fight with the back of the blade to smack people around, especially when cuts won't do anything.
Imagine Shishi sonson using enma and with advance conq haki. That one single sword slash that's really strong. I think that's a slash hawkeye would respect

The great thing of luffys and zoros friendship is that they compliment each other so perfectly. Zoro is not only luffys sword but also his shield literally blocking any sharp object for him because thats his weakness.. I would not see luffy defeating mr.1 or ryuuma, not because he is to weak but because they are his natural enemies.. I even see luffy struggling against king.. taking a direct hit from him like he did with kaidos club would not work, even in gear 5... and that's exactly where zoro steps in so that luffy can focus on the other antagonists while zoro improves more and more against these "sharp" fighting styles and also as a swordsman which also fits his way of life..

I think current Zoro could pretty easily beat Enel because even if his blades conduct electricity, he has advanced conqueror's haki now. He can probably just pull of an attack like divine departure that KOs Enel without even touching him.
For the Katakuri fight it all depends on wether Zoro could develop advanced observation in that situation like Luffy did. He has been shown to be able to evolve during his fights when he fought mr. 1 and he could probably last as long as Luffy did.

Honestly, I think the Buggy fight isn't as difficult. It's not like Buggy can't be cut but rather split up before the hit appears. So if Zoro can cut him up fast enough so he can't react to it should be a W for Zoro. Post timeskip I'd say based on Luffy's fight with Katakuri using his fruit very similarly to dodge, I'd say Haki isn't even a factor for Zoro vs Buggy
Doubtful. If buggy is fast enough to evade mihawk in marineford, it is likely that he doesn't need reaction time and it's just a fruit property, otherwise zoro east blue shouldn't be faster than mihawk.
We don't know if he has a limit to how much he can split. He didn't have an issue using it against Mihawk.
Regardless i do think Zoro may win though. He could really just throw Hands or use no sword style or some strategy. He did actually fight Buggy in the series and the moment Buggy said swords don't work against him Zoro straight up fired a canon at him and sinked the whole ship

In the Big Mom Arc, Luffy could only eat Cracker`s knights because Nami softened them with rain. If Zoro had the same assist, he would cut them like butter, but they would regenerate (Luffy said so). I think at that point he would probably be able to handle the softened / regenerating knights, but im not sure about the hard ones. If he could land a hit on Cracker himself, its game over. I would give this one to Zoro.

For the Celestial Dragon fight, zoro would win. Shocking right. Zoro was about to cut saint charlos (in the anime at least) but luffy punched him first. The scene is right after the punch, he says : "I missed my chance to cut him down because you beat him up first". So no, he did not took the hint.
