Extending the warmest thank you to everyone running up ‘Washed Away’ rn. Recorded this track in the midst of uncertainty and a lot of my first takes made it to the final. I really didn’t think I’d hit on anything that would resonate out the gate, but I can see now that it was my willingness to try that paved the way for self belief and renewal. Hope it makes you feel the same🫀

take me apart is truly a healing album… i’m excited to see what’s in store next
me feels it's more healing but in the vein of releasing. take me apart was very much (imo) a meditation on love and lust (for the self and some), understanding yourself and your boundaries in relationships, testing societal and self imposed limitations of what it means to feel good and be good in a relationship (with some and the self).
I partly feel like K2 is going to be in the vein of a lot of 2022 music- letting go, feeling free, releasing (washed away), but with that amazing kelela touch that always breaks our hearts and bops our heads.

Some say that when you go under anesthesia, you experience a taste of the underworld ... A few days ago during surgery ... I had my air pods on playing this song on repeat, and I feel like the frequencies in this song brought me closer to god than I've ever been ... I cannot think of another way to describe it. This is a very healing song she has made ... and the shortness of it keeps me coming back. I will never forget that feeling of hearing this while being in and out of consciousness & traveling through different dimensions ... I felt this song on my soul. And I have been healing so well too ... I believe this song blessed my surgery. Thank you Kelela!

I know this post is a year old, but I had a very similar experience a few weeks ago except I was high (lol). But it was an out of body experience and I literally felt my old self being washed away and being reborn in to a new version of myself. Being closer to God is what I felt too. Very hard to describe, but I completely understand where you are coming from!
